The explorable area is unnecessarily big. It's not needed when you have uniform terrain and don't need to create believable transitions between various types of terrain (such as Breath of the Wild). Unless the Nomad is stupidly fast, this creates far greater amounts of downtime than needed.
A.k.a open-world syndrome
And you know this from first hand knowledge? Or yet more assumptions?
Note how much (empty) space exists between the current landmark and the next one. What for? Sense of scale? I'd much prefer a cluster of smaller, well-designed maps over a handful of big, empty, dull looking ones.
Have to admit, am impressed in how quickly you rolled out with screens on this...Dutch is incredibly slow in comparison.
"Emptiness" can give a sense of scale to the journey, but ambiance and presentation need to support it. RDR and Witcher III ( that cursed word! ) are best example of this, when it comes to natural environment.
I'm with Stealth on this. If you aren't a Troll, then why post crap like this and then NOT get involved with the discussion? At no point have you said, what you find wrong with these pictures other than they're empty so the game will suck. Really, that shit is getting old.

Wow that might actually be the most logical concern you've ever said. Perhaps if you would express yourself like this more often, people might actually take you seriously. With that being said the creators have said they don't want to make this game as obnoxiously open as Inquisition, so I'm not too concerned about this.
People comparing 2017 game with 2006 game and it's from the same franchise even, lol. Anyway. I actually enjoyed driving in my mako on empty planets in ME1. If Andromeda can make nomad even more fun and if there would be fun banter between your squaddies, I could definetly drive around for hours and enjoy the view.

Peebee: Hey Ryder see that Krogan base over the horizon? We should visit it.
SAM: Pathfinder, you can turn to face the krogan base by using the steering wheel, and push the accelerator to drive towards it.

I mean, what do you want? A new building or group of enemies every five feet? We have to Nomad. It goes fast. Makes sense we might want to drive it around a bit, so spreading some stuff out seems reasonable. I live in South Dakota, so nothing that I've seen so far suggests "empty" to me. You want empty? Try driving from Chamberlain to Rapid City on I-90. Flat and like zero towns. Then tell me that these planets look empty.

One can hope ME:A does not take after ME1. The Mako worlds were bland, empty, and tedious. While I do like ME1, the sidequest/exploration planets were not good. So indeed, hardly a new formula for the series.
Still not going to hop on OP's panic wagon until reviews come out. The possibility does worry me quite a bit, but my worries regarding this game have been wrong before.

ME1 looks bland because it's an old game. The just didn't have the tech back than to make vast worlds look really interesting.
This just in, uncharted worlds have a lot of...uncharted space.
I get that people want their maps packed with stuff in every square foot, but an unexplored planet having some barren wasteland is perfectly reasonable. And honestly, I think it can add to the atmosphere if it's well designed, which it appears to be.

There are RPGs older than ME that manage to have vegetation and moving grass. Hell, the Jak & Daxter games near the turn of the millennium had large seamless open areas with much more visual interest. The technology existed to have more than textured ground. The technology also did not force them to make the worlds boring to play in, with almost nothing of interest gameplay-wise. It's fine, the joy in ME1 came from all the other things.
EDIT: Also, I keep seeing people say "Empty spaces make sense" as if believability and logic equate to fun game design. They do not. Yes, it would make sense for uncharted worlds to be largely empty. That doesn't mean it will be fun, or a better design choice than smaller areas with denser points of interest. Not saying that it can't be large, sparsely populated, and fun, just that people should not use "logic" as a justification for boring game design if it does in fact turn out to be boring. A game should be fun first, and logical second. Or third or whatever.

The technology existed it was just hard to implement in a world as vast as Mass Effect, I'm not too concerned about Andromeda being bland. I just hope it isn't open world just for the sake of being open world, which I don't think it will be.

NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Anyway, I just hope 'ME5' and 'DA4', now that they got the 'open' itch scratched, can focus more on elaborate, populated, urban areas. Yeah yeah ME is about exploration. We can explore cities.

It's nice Flynn confirmed this (regardless of how much content there'll be in each planet, it was obvious non discovered location would've been unmarked).

Yea I asked flynn this a while ago and he already stated that he didn't think there was any pointless space and that some were designed for the nomad. Since this thread got made again I figured a more definite answer was needed. I'd say Ian's tweet pretty much implies that there won't be a surplus of map space just for the sake of being big.
I asked the devs for you OP here's what they said. Hope this helps you be excited for the game :
SomebodyOfNobody @of_somebody Som1 is concerned about the lack of map markers on this desert map. Will things be as spaced out on other planets?
Ian S. Frazier @tibermoon Looks to me like not much has been discovered there yet. Undiscovered = no markers.
SomebodyOfNobody @of_somebody ty someone refused to listen unless an official response was made. maybe now they can be excited 4 the game 😉
This is what I expected... we'll be filling in the map as we explore the areas within the map boundaries. Probably finding some things will direct us into other areas of the map to do further exploration. The markers on the map probably just reflect whatever intel Ryder picked up just at the Krogan home base. If he/she had talked to more people, maybe there would be more markers.
And you know this from first hand knowledge? Or yet more assumptions?

Yeah, just from looking at your video, there's something coming up on the left in about 2 seconds, looks like there's another thing a bit farther out, maybe 10-15 seconds away, then some more beyond that, and that's just the larger stuff. I mean, I can drive for 10-15 seconds without getting bored. I think the Nomad will be fun to drive, anyway! I mean, sometimes in video games you have to walk more than 3 ft to find something interesting.
