I watched the intro video and it in subtitles references the fact that the expedition has exactly "One hundred thousand adventurers".
Once again it brings us to the problem of these adventurers breaking bad and killing each other like cockroaches as seen in the gameplay videos of milky way raiders. Sorry but I still cant get over it. It's dumb and poorly thoughtout. As a side note i enjoyed the beginning 13 minutes.

Meh it is what it is. I would prefer more to but 100k is still a lot of people. And i think that for lore purposes this is probably a round number. You can have 149,999 people and still technically have it as 100k for rounding purposes.

Some of them have had 34 years to make more babies you know. They would be young adults now, or in case of salarians, old men.

He's got a point though. You'd think that 100,000 colonists would be such a small number out of the potential pool as to be insignificant, and those selected would have been hand-picked, perhaps by an automated computer program that acertains the strengths, weaknesses, and lack of criminal records of all possible candidates.
Rather it seems like they just grabbed the first random selection of 100,000 of the people in closest proximity and shoved them on in there, no wonder 1/3 of them rebel once they are thawed out.
It all just seems absurdedly short-sighted for a project as massive in scope as the Andromeda Initiative, which would have required some extremely intelligent people to plan and execute.

Lack of criminal record just means you're smart enough - or wealthy enough - to not get caught. :sure: So who knows. Maybe they were hand-picked.

We dont really know waht the nexus uprising was about, until we read the book. Maybe most of them arent criminals, just some general colonists that get pissed by some revelation or something. Regular people rebel too if something awful comes to light.

I thought we already knew there were 20,000 colonists per ark or something like that. In any case, given that the idea is to establish a trade route back to the Milky Way, the assumption might be that more colonists would follow one that happens. I don't honestly see the problem here other than drama for drama's sake.

Most of them won't be 'breaking bad'.
Most of them will be in cryostasis still. On Hyperion, on maybe the missing ark(s).
And enemy forces will be split between Kett, Remnant fights, and then Milky Way bads. In SP, kill count of these MW people in 'only' the hundreds? Thousands somehow? Still leaving tons left.
Most are not constantly 'killing each other like cockroaches'. So far it seems that its a minority of the colonists turning to organize into the criminal type fare that we'd have seen on uncharted worlds in ME1. The rest are not necessarily staying with the Nexus and/or Initiative, sure, but they also seem like they're not giving up on any sort of civilization. Its just that with greater chaos than expected (lost arks, revelations?, much more?), there's enough (for us to kill some regularly in SP campaign path, for MP to deal with them if you only count on sort of mission type as one time) that we have an enemy force.
I think they'll be the biggest deal in the first parts of the game when the implication may be that if they're not handled, they'll be a greater problem that will directly challenge anything remaining of the Initiative.

I just hope each of the 100,000 colonists will have some Very Important Personal Problem: lost space-goat, or need some spice for the dinner, and only Ryder would be able to solve their problems. How fun would be!

Well i dont know exactly, but theres Paradise on Elaaden in addition to the krogans colony, then there the small port town on Kadara, Some prefab buildings on Eos and maybe others. Well see when the game comes.

There's hubs and smaller colonies (populated or abandoned).
We set up outposts but those are only outposts, with just the insinuation that we're pushing a way forward for faster and easier (or even possible) colonization after MEA.
Hubs are sometimes established colonies and sometimes not at all colonies. Outposts are additional content (shops, missions, etc), as 'mini-hubs' at best.

I will say the notion that you can't find room to wake them all is ridiculous. Planets are big.

I will say the notion that you can't find room to wake them all is ridiculous. Planets are big. Could it be less of a space issue and more of a "not enough resources"? You could drop 100,000 people into a desert but then they die from lack of food, water and shelter.
