So I jumped back into ME3MP out of pure nostalgia. Almost 600 hours invested in the ME3 MP at this point, and I STILL haven't got the god damn Venom shotgun. I was playing all day yesterday, bought a ton of Premium Spectre Packs and Arsenal Packs, but I literally got nothing but ammo. NOTHING. Not ONE Ultra Rare. It's almost like it's bugged. As if the game thinks I'm maxed out on everything or something. It's SO frustrating.
I mean yeah, I got all my Rares up to X, I have all the character kits at max, but most of my Ultra Rares still need quite a few levels, and I haven't even got a Venom Shotgun I yet.
I remember this is why I quit back in the day. I'd been playing for weeks in hopes of unlocking the damn thing. It's the only gun I need. I don't even care if I can get my Ultra Rares to X, at this point I'll just be happy to have the damn Venom at level I.
Yeah, the game is still fun, but it's just ridiculous how long it's taking for this thing to finally drop. [/rant]
What's the best chance for getting Ultra Rare weapons in your experience? PSPs or APs?

First of all, buy Jumbo Packs until your Missiles, Gels, Ops Packs, and Thermal Clip Packs are all 255. This removes them from the drop table, unlike Ammo.
As long as you're buying a pack with 2 Gold drops, I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter which one you buy. I'd go for the Arsenal Pack simply because it SAYS it has a better chance of weapons, but I recall a big data gathering project on the old BSN that demonstrated there really was no statistical difference.

APs if I remember correctlly, but not by a huge margin. Not having a maxed manifest or even all the guns isn't really extraordinary at 700 hours, you need to play a huge amount of time to get everything in this game. I believe the average is around 800-1000 hours to unlock all characters, weapons, mods... but don't quote me on that.

What Sal and Fmul said is true. Now I haven't played as much as you at all but I remember the same frustration about the same weapon, maybe some of the mp'ers can recall me constantly yada yada about it on the bsn back then when I started playing. I wanted the venom so badly but I couldn't seem to get it. Then suddenly Ark told me to stop buying those Spectre packs but instead go buy Arsenal and jumbo packs and voila.... there it was... already after my first or second buy I think LOL  |

If you don't promote it's APs, so you don't get useless character cards but more ammo ontop of the ammo you already got.

When being trolled by the Store and spending mucho gusto credits for some period of time, remember: Skinny Pop is your friend. Try the Sea Salt and Black Pepper for a change, If you're going for cheesy UR weapons, then eat the White Cheddar Skinny Pop,it increases the drop rate dramatically! (probably .001%)

As long as your consumables are maxed out and your rare, commons, and uncommon weapons are maxed, you should good buying spectre, premium spectre, or arsenal packs. Stockpile your money and buy in loads instead of buying at the end of every match. Make sure you have everything below ultrarare maxed though or you're pissing away credits.

Alright, thanks for the tips, everyone. I knew about maxing out the consumables, I used to do that back in the day, but I forgot, so thanks for reminding me. And yeah, I'm not promoting anything, I don't care about my N7 level anyway. I also got all the challenges and banners, so I don't see the point in promoting other than occasionally wanting to make new builds and resetting the entire class. I'll try and save up my cash, see if that helps.
Again, I don't really care about maxing out my manifest, I just want all the available weapons. I didn't even particularly like the Venom in single player.
What irks me is that my friend has fewer hours invested than I have, but he got all the weapons ages ago. (For him the Venom was also the last gun he needed).

If you really want to maximize your chances of getting a Venom, then build up some credits and remove all the other expansion packs, then roll your credits. This will remove some of the potential UR drops which aren't named 'Venom'

This game is strange. Yesterday I bought three Arsenal packs, and I get three URs in a row! Typhoon VIII, Talon IX and X. Niceness. Not the Venom I that I was hoping for but still. I got nothing but ammo for like 2 weeks straight, so it's improvement!
Also, I finally met some people I can play gold with, which is so much better.

If you play gold you can get an Arsenal every other match if you go 2 JEPs and 1 AP, otherwise I'd let the consumables take a hit and go Specter>Arsenal. I can't find plat matches anymore on Xbox so it's gotten worse for me now too. |
