That's just terrible. That means you have to play about 20 silver games to get an UR. But then yesterday I got three URs in three consecutive packs. =\ Thing is, you don't really notice it when you're still getting your commons, uncommons and rares to X because you're still getting new stuff all the time. But once you have all that, it's just consumables and the occasional UR. It's a terrible grind! I don't even need to max out my manifest, I just want the one UR weapon I still haven't unlocked. It's ridiculous I still haven't got it. It is annoying, I think it took over 800 hours (may have been only 600) for me to get a Talon I, I'm over 900 now and it's my lowest at III. If you play gold you can get an Arsenal every other match if you go 2 JEPs and 1 AP, otherwise I'd let the consumables take a hit and go Specter>Arsenal. I can't find plat matches anymore on Xbox so it's gotten worse for me now too. Well, the UN-POSSIBLE has FINALLY happened!!!! I FIIIIINALLY GOT THE DAMN VENOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My last missing weapon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MISSION FULFILLED!!!!!!!!!!! *sings* "Tonight there's gonna be a SCREEN SHAKE!!!!!" Aw man, finally! Now leveling the URs up is just a bonus, nothing to worry about! Man, that feeling when that card finally dropped, just sheer disbelief! I thought my manifest was simply bugged or something, haha!

What's the idea with the Venom Valkyrie/Fury then? Any special strategy?
Also, charged shot or single shot?

What's the idea with the Venom Valkyrie/Fury then? Any special strategy? Also, charged shot or single shot? Lots of staggers, nullifies phantoms, for gold I'd use an adrenaline mod on both and maybe go fire ammo on the Valkyrie. I like to charged shot into a group and then BE while they're staggered. Similar with the Asari, just a slower cooldown because she has warp and not throw. I personally don't run anything other than the raider on the Valkyrie though. If you do charged shots you can quickly follow with uncharged shots like you can do with the graal. I've accidentally taken the Venom Fury to plat with no equipment and 3 in fitness and done well enough not to hurt the team while still being agressive, mostly because of the Venom.

Biotically Exploit? =P I'm guessing you mean go in there and kill them with the Annihilation Field / Throw or Warp combo? Incendiary ammo sounds brilliant. But the Venom and the Raider seem like such heavy guns to use on these kits, who rely on fast cooldowns IMO... I usually use pistols or SMGs on them. Is this an April Fools thing? Haha. What mods do you use for the Venom? High Caliber barrel + Extended Mag? Ultralight maybe?

What mods do you use for the Venom? High Caliber barrel + Extended Mag? Ultralight maybe? Biotic Explosion so charged shot to stagger a group then run in and Annihilation Field>Throw/Warp for the BE. Throw's cooldown is incredibly low as is so it doesn't really suffer from a heavy weapon so it's more forgiving than Warp and Tech armor. I use the BEs as compliments to the crazy Warp IV/Incendiary IV damage from the shotguns and since shotguns do massive damage you get massive damage boosts from ammo, especially with the Venom because it's one grenade thing. Venom Fury gets a crazy boost from warp ammo: a charged shot does 1621 to armor and warp IV rounds give an extra 751 and 1590 (basically another charged shot!) to barriers so if you prime that banshee with dark channel she's dying quick. This is also why I love it against collectors because they are all barriers and armor. Venom Valkyrie gets another crazy damage boost from priming everything, however warp's cooldown is a little longer. If you aren't exploiting warp/incendiary glitch you can go for recharge on warp to bring the cooldown to ~3.5 seconds. Raider X weighs just as much as the Venom X. Now the reason I don't use smgs (Hurricane would be a go to if I did) is because these kits are in your face and you want shit to die quickly and nothing is better at that than shotguns. I think the Raider is one of the higher DPS guns in the game and shines at close range, which happens to be where annihilation field primes at. Venom can get you out of some tight situations because it staggers so reliably so it's always good to have a charged shot ready in case you round a corner and there's a phantom ready to greet you. Let go of the trigger and the shot goes off even if you get melee'd. Here's TTT doing her thing (this is what I model my Valkyrie play after): You can be more aggressive with a team, but the main thing is the BE's compliment the weapons. Fury is very similar and a little more cracked out with adrenaline mods.

Fury is very similar and a little more cracked out with adrenaline mods. Man, that sounds awesome, it's never even occurred to me to play those kits like that. I typically go for ultra fast cooldowns and power combos on those two. I'll take a look at that build. Only thing is, I do have a Raider X, but my Venom's only level I. I'm still getting used to the Venom lol. I tried it out on the AIU and the Salarian Infiltrator, but I forgot how strangely charged weapons behave on infiltrators. It wasn't a great success, to say the least. Also, I noticed you need to aim really precisely with the Venom. It's not like you aim at the floor and enemies fly, no, you actually need to hit them precisely. Like I said, still getting used to the damn thing, only unlocked it last night.

Like I said, still getting used to the damn thing, only unlocked it last night. It's definitely not the easiest gun to use and suffers off host by not doing damage at times, which sucks. A charged shot you can land a few feet short of the target and the cluster will bounce to it. You can also bounce charged shots off of walls and ceilings too. Big guys like praets, atlas, brute I try to hit with a charged shot. It's a really good primer too. I think you generally have to hit the feet or very close for it to damage the target. The trajectory is an arc and that's probably the hardest part to figure out. It's great on melee kits because of the staggers, my shadow only uses a venom, salarian engie also is really good with it, all the Drell are awesome with it too, QME, Batarians, QFE, Krogans (especially melee KroSent). It's really fun to use

I am very disappointed in all of you gang!!! I mean nobody even mentioned the ONE AND ONLY legitimate kit for using the Venom and that's the SE (incendiary ammo for max. cheese). I am sure SalMasRac will agree...

Also if it hasn't been mentioned yet, Fury/Valk and Venom are all effected by lag considerably, I highly suggest hosting when using these kits/combo's. Annihilation Field's primer needs to be ASAP or you run into... difficulties. Venom shots that land behind the enemy are also a significant problem.
The one big downside of hosting, 90% DR Phantoms, still get messed up by both those kits and the Venom; really it's win/win unless you're "RUSbotbbot" hosting from Siberia with a potato.

Just want to mention that a SalEng with both Venom and Scorpion won't be able to detonate his own combos, a bummer especially vs Geth that said, Venom SalEng is a great, lore-friendly kit, I definitely add my recommendation for trying it out! The Venom's greatest trait, I think, is that it can keep most units constantly staggered. Great, great fun for revenge against geth, and for maniacally cackling at dragoons and phantoms (until a turret takes you down, at least). It obviously does really well with CQ kits, which have been mentioned already. Another really good kit for learning to Venom IMO is the Geth Trooper, since it can tank the attacks of the enemies you managed to miss with the Venom - a big problem for me - and has the flamer to help taking down bigger units. Quick off-topic, since there was some Valkyrie/Fury talk, I sidestep the whole which-one-is-best argument by employing different playstyles. Valkyrie is an excellent weapon platform; in this role longer cooldowns don't really matter, biotic explosions are mostly to gain some breathing room in a crowd, but warp's main use is as a debuff, to cast as you approach your victim target. I use the Fury as a BE machine; if the game would allow it, I wouldn't even equip a weapon on her. One of her biggest strengths to me is her amazing teleport. Rush in, throw to detonate your AF, dodge back to un-prime, dodge forward, detonate again. I do spec into DC for when I do poorly in the early waves and end up short on consumables, so I have an alternative, slower but safer way of doing damage. I never take her out off-host though, that's just a recipe for frustration. That's not to say putting a big boomstick on her isn't a good way of playing her of course! Just stating my own personal preference

This sucks especially for me because they're practically my favourite kits, but my connection is too slow to host, really. People will complain. Venom shots that land behind the enemy are also a significant problem. Yeah, I had this happening constantly when I first tried out the Venom. Phantoms are 90% damage resistant to hosts? Really? (I hardly ever host, so yeah)

Just want to mention that a SalEng with both Venom and Scorpion won't be able to detonate his own combos, a bummer especially vs Geth Which combos do you mean exactly? Surely he can still do cryo/incendiary ammo/energy drain/incinerate combos? I use the Fury as a BE machine; if the game would allow it, I wouldn't even equip a weapon on her. One of her biggest strengths to me is her amazing teleport. Rush in, throw to detonate your AF, dodge back to un-prime, dodge forward, detonate again. I do spec into DC for when I do poorly in the early waves and end up short on consumables, so I have an alternative, slower but safer way of doing damage. This is exactly how I play the Fury. I play the Valkyrie pretty much the same way though. Except that she can't really combo from a distance. I mix it up by letting the Valkyrie go into groups of enemies, then detonate the entire Annihilation Field (instead of warping them one by one) and then Tech Armour whoever is still standing. xD But it'd be fresh to play one of these kits with a shotgun. I just need to get the hang of dat Venom first. I also play the N7 Shadow without ever using my gun. I'm carrying a Phalanx purely to attach the melee and power amp mods, but I never actually shoot with it. It's all powers and melee.

nothing about the Valkyrie, or any of dem Blueberries for that matter, is ever off topic Dalakaar's and HamleticTortoise's point on Fury/V's lag sensitivity is an important one to consider OP. and while personnly quite comfortable takin my V out UUG pugging i ususally do swap CQC weapons for the CSMG or Hurrdurricane. Yep, just like you mention you do, although not for the cooldown reasons per se but for the ease of mid-long range engagement on larger maps and to cater for the laggeir games where BEs turn situational. my first gold Asari solo was CSMG V btw. don't be reluctant to host either what's the worst gonna happen really it's just a game in the end. and ME3MP ain't constrained so much by the bandwidth but on latency (NZ-based player here have the extensive firsthand experience) so a semidecent connection should be fine. i, probably, would not advise hosting public lobbies using dial-up or while watching HD porn, but beyond that knock yourself out. the playerbase is dwindling so you're either will get no one at all and will have to solo, get one of the old-timers who either will stay or leave depending on how bad lag (a lot of them laugh in lag's face like andy_3_913 and Schachmatt123 did playing my host) will be, or one of those new wave peeps from the Origin Access/MEA hype would drop in and they wouldn't know what's going on anyways hehe. playing on-host is a lot of fun, despite some of the host-specific BS, and is in fact recommended in a few cases ahem... i'm losing my train of thought now with all the rambling, so better wrap up. one thing i wanted to mention regarding Venom specifically (smooth eh, very subtle!) and it's no intent to rain on your parade like i said glad you finally unlocked it, - you may find that Venom I ain't necessarily that great (plain heresy i know) upgrades unfortunately do matter and it's going to be awhile before you can see it fully shine P.S. just a couple things to try, some of my personal favourites, - Raider Fury (AM with friends cause "wheeeeee" and CM in pugs) and the Eclipse Commando (Claymoar V) cause ME2! P.P.S. for a shameless plug for ME Themed Challenges ( here's the thread and website) because why not! there's a few challenges that involve Venom there too also the Outlier Series come with σ5 – Plague is an awesome challenge for a SMG V experience. P.P.P.S. if you're on PC, feel free to add me timezones permitting happy be to be a guinea pig to try your host out

He can certainly still detonate his ammo primers, though those are not universal (cryo only primes on health, incendiary on health and armour) and result in a 6+1 explosion. Unfortunately, the priming windows for ED and Incinerate are short enough that if you equip both a Venom and a Scorpion, you won't be able to prime and detonate, your cooldowns will be too long; even that can be circumvented by keeping enough distance from your target and using incinerate to prime: if it has enough travel time, you can eat enough into your cooldown to be able to cast the hitscan ED to detonate... but that means you are at a distance, while maining the Venom. In the end, equipping both weapons gives you very little upside, while carrying a pretty hefty downside The main attraction of the Valkyrie for me is the double debuff offered by warp and annihilation field. Since you need to be at close range for the AF debuff to kick in, a shotgun kind of fits nicely (and she is plenty tanky, with a nice dodge, so staying at close range isn't too frustrating). Playing this way means you will want to keep tech armour and AF going, so you only have one power on cooldowns most of the time. If you want to try her with a shotgun, you could always give the GPS or the Disciple a go: in her hands, they both hit plenty strong on gold, they both stagger, and they are both light enough that your cooldown won't suffer too much, so you can still generate plenty of biotic booms Another melee Shadow enthusiast! She is such a joy to play that way IMO. I actually go with a shotgun and the omni-blade. Longer cooldowns mean a slightly more careful playstyle, but the omni-blade increases her melee damage a fair bit more than the melee stunner/power amp mod on a pistol. Phantom patrol extraordinaire - and I am acutally happy when I get collectors, 'cause you can't just shadow strike your way through them, got to pay attention I want to echo MPApr2012's sentiment: play on host to properly enjoy these kits! Pugs will either stay or leave. Or add everyone from here - if you are on Origin, feel free to send a FR my way!

Pugs will either stay or leave. Or add everyone from here - if you are on Origin, feel free to send a FR my way! Unfortunately I no longer have a proper PC to play ME3 on, I can only play it on Xbox 360. I wish I had a new PC, because I really prefer to game that way. =\ Also MPApr2012 Anyway. Yeah, you can give the Shadow a shotgun for the better melee attachment (I'd go with a Disciple then, because I think it's one of the lightest), but if you like to use Slash every now and then, the power mod on the pistol comes in handy. It's kind of a trade-off. I do sometimes use Slash against groups, or when we're doing the Hack objective. And yeah, when doing gold the better strategy on the Valkyrie is indeed to keep Annihilation Field and Tech Armour going. It does make sense to put a shotgun on her, it's just that I'm very fond of the power mods, so I usually run with the Talon pistol (which also gives me a faster cooldown). It's frustrating sometimes though to play the Fury and Valkyrie off-host. You run up to an enemy, and when they're not primed, you really have a problem, especially on the Fury. But like I said, I really shouldn't be hosting with my connection. =\ Though MPApr2012 says I should just do it, here's the thing. I'm sharing my connection with my roommate, who's also gaming. Now it's usually not so bad when joining a game, but people say it really is terrible when I'm hosting when she's playing. Another great kit I like as a melee build is the Asari Huntress, by the way. Although I still think it's a shame that the animation of the Asari heavy melee leaves you vulnerable for a moment. But when things get too dangerous to keep doing melee, she can still throw powers. I love that kit!

Since you're on lolconsole send me a friend request. We can run through gold to get more of those URs, plat is next to dead sadly. If I'm not doing N7 solo stuff I'm pugging gold so we can see how bad the connection is 😁

I must say all these Venom combos are amazing, but the Venom belongs in the hands of either a Salarian or a Drell. Period.
