Why would you pay for early access if you never intend to use it?

I prefer to wait March 21st, 10 hours can go by so fast then I be angry that I have to wait till launch day. I waited this long might as well wait till release day.

If possible I'll try to restrict myself to the 17th or 18th rather than the 15th to play early access so I won't have to wait as long for the release on the 20th.

No. The free trial is only available to Origin/EA Access subscribers. It has nothing to do with pre-ordering the game. If you want to opt in, you have to pay $5 each month or $30 for the year. www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/origin-access/faq

If you want to opt in, you have to pay $5 each month or $30 for the year. www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/origin-access/faqNope you gotta spend $5 on origin to get the access and you download it as if it was a separate game in the trial section of origin. Thing is the 10% discount you get from preordering the game makes it so you actually save money if you do this. Standard version $60-$6 (10% disount) + $5 (access cost) = $59 initial cost. Basically they are giving you a dollar if you're already set on preordering so long as you do it after you sign up unless you get the deluxe or super deluxe then they are giving you more. Just cancel after release.

If you're having issues with being able to "purchase" the trial. Here's a little post I made to troubleshoot. Short version go to Origin through the ea site rather than use the desktop app. bsn.boards.net/post/345547

Ty all, I'm up to speed. I'm still really torn As I've said, I've played the ME trilogy on my 360 over the years. I'm used to the 30fps ME look - kinda cinematic, u know? My PC probably could handle 'high' settings at 2560x1600 - probably. But, 60fps on an ME game seems strange to me, though I have plenty of games (Witcher 3, DA:I, SWTOR, etc) that I play at 60fps. I've watched some of the new ME videos at 60fps and I'm like, "that's not Mass Effect." It's very bizarre. Also, my xbx1 is on my TV (42") and my monitor is 30". I still haven't pre-ordered cause I'm not sure how I want my first ME:A experience to go. I also have a PS4 (and new Switch) - I'm an enthusiast LOL. Any reccomendations on how to proceed? I know the PS4 looks better than the XB1 version, but, I prefer 360 controllers to PS-style. I mean, I could use a 360-type controller on PC and limit FPS to 30 - but is that super dumb? First world problems...

Not me, but there's a chance I get the retail version a bit earlier, so the wait won't be that horrifying.

You'll have access and then it will expire automatically once your month is up. I ordered MEA with the 7 day free trial for Origin Access. I think the discount still applies if I cancel. Even if I don't, it's still cheaper to pay a month's sub and get the discount.

The discount should still apply if you've already pre-ordered the game. You still had to provide your credit card information to actually initiate the 7 day free trial, correct? If you want access to the MEA free trial, you'll have to let EA bill you for the month as the 7 day free trial expires prior to early access.

I'm tempted to pre-order for PC and XB1 - I've seen others do PC and PS4. Is the reason to play MP on console? Or what? I'm used to playing the ME series on console, but, have a good PC too. As I've said in other threads, I'm used to the 30fps look. I've watched the 60fps vids and it doesn't seem like ME to me. LOL. it's much better on console because the low framerate (capped at 15) makes it more cinematic. also on console you can use the analogue sticks to aim, much easier and better and more fun and immersive than using a mouse to aim. console offers much better gaming experience. Are you a troll? The console versions will be 30 fps, not 15.

The ten hour thing would drive me nuts. I would just as soon play it on the 21st and not have any limits placed on me. That's one reason why I am doing a Shepard trilogy playthrough right now. It help gets the edge off and I am still playing Mass Effect. yeah that's why I'm playing the trilogy atm to get me in the zone. Currently playing a female infiltrator atm. Got a Vanguard playthrough planned for my next run.

F*** no! I am going to play the 10 hours the MINUTE it is available, and then I am literally snowed under with a massive amount of work for the next 5 days. Basically, A Giant Work Thing is due on the 21st. I hope that 10 hours will hold me over and get me through those miserable work days!! Almost there! I'm in a similar boat... I leave for 7 days on a work trip on the 26th, so that leaves only a few days to play it. And they are work days, so not much time at all... that trip is such bad timing! I have a gaming laptop I could bring, but it's not good enough according to minimum requirements. Gotta be home and play on the desktop >< Oh well, maybe they'll have patched a few bugs by the time I get back.

I'm not waiting. I'm gonna use the the early access for CC practice and MP. I'll be super prepared once the game unlocks on my PS4 Pro.

Yeah - I have an effing paper hand in on 23rd and I'm in the UK, so that's the day of release. I'm going to be so bloody busy with assessment stuff after that - not pleased. So the 10 hours is a bit of a pre-paper treat and compensation.

Are you a troll? The console versions will be 30 fps, not 15. The 30 fps cap is a completely theoretical and overly generous estimate. In reality, most games on console reach peak frame rates of 15, averaging at 10 fps with regular dips into the <5 fps range. Consoles can't really handle much more than 10fps. They'll never hit 30fps, not for another hundred years at least. Playing on console is like observing a slide show.

Oh. Hell. No.
Have the inlaws coming up the 17th. I drop them all at the airport 7am the 18th, and then I'm in Andromeda heaven for the next 7 days. 5 hours a day over the weekend, VPN Monday, then all power to the engines.

I don't think I could ever muster the willpower to wait when the option to play is sitting right there, though I'm going to try my hardest to spread out the hours instead of blowing all 10 in one day...

Use it to create your character. I wish ps4 had it so i could create various characters and then on the 21 start the game right away.
