No, Drew is done with SWTOR and working on an unnanounced game right now. It might be new IP or a return to a past franchise. He did have a complete hiatus from the company between 2012 and 2016. Since when? He just recently helped release the new expansion for SWTOR back in November. The reason he was on hiatus is because he was writing an unrelated book series. Unless he recently stated he's no longer at BioWare Austin, which he literally just returned to last year, I'm fairly certain he hasn't left. He has nothing to do with BioWare's new IP, which is scheduled to be released next year. I'm almost 100% positive he's still working on SWTOR, considering he lives in Austin. He's not moving back to Canada to work on Mass Effect and he's never been involved in Dragon Age. Edit: I went through hits Twitter and found what you are referring to: He must be working on the rumored Star Wars game that BioWare has in the works. BioWare Austin is the Star Wars studio, and there was rumors back when Disney brokered a deal with EA that BioWare (along with Visceral Games and DICE) would be making a new Star Wars game separate from SWTOR.

I hope the writing is good. You know they are trying to make an effort because in the first 10 minutes of the game they have Alex Ryder state ' We're marooned, 20,000 souls adrift at sea, and when the power runs out and stays out,we need to know if that's safe harbour'. But is it anything like Sovereigns speech? 'We have no beginning. We have no end. We are infinite. Millions of years after your civilization has been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure. We are legion. The time of our return is coming. Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything. We impose order on the chaos of organic evolution. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it. Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding. There is a realm of existence so far beyond your own you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Sovereign. Reaper? A label created by the Protheans to give voice to their destruction. In the end, what they chose to call us is irrelevant. We simply... are. Confidence born of ignorance. The cycle cannot be broken. The pattern has repeated itself more times than you can fathom. Organic civilizations rise, evolve, advance, and at the apex of their glory they are extinguished. The Protheans were not the first. They did not create the Citadel. They did not forge the mass relays. They mere found them - the legacy of my kind. My kind transcends your very understanding. We are each a nation - independent, free of all weakness. You cannot grasp the nature of our existence. We have no beginning. We have no end. We are infinite. Millions of years after your civilization has been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure. We are legion. The time of our return is coming. Our numbers will darken the sky of every world. You cannot escape your doom. Your words are as empty as your future. I am the Vanguard of your destruction. This exchange is over... Well, the Ryder speech does have the advantage of being both meaningful and true, while Sovereign's is a mix of blather, evasion, and lies, and was always obviously so. Having said that, I'll award the rhetoric points to Sovereign, sure.

My question is, is it going to be in canon with TFA or will it be set in the now decanonized TOR universe?

I'm almost positive BioWare's new Star Wars game will be canon. SWTOR is the exception to the rule only because it's an MMO that existed pre-Disney ownership. Every game since Disney acquired Star Wars has been part of the new canon. Hopefully, it will be another Star Wars RPG akin to KOTOR, but obviously part of the new canon. I'd love to see a modern take on KOTOR.

Even though Kylo Ren is a Revan rip-off If Revan was a whiny brat with daddy AND granddaddy issues... the similarities begin and end with the mask. On topic: To many bad ones...

Nah... the look is the obvious rip-off, the character is a whole other story. And TFA already snuck in BW stuff, so I'd like to see if that will get cut.

Even though Kylo Ren is a Revan rip-off Kylo Ren is actually an inferior rip-off of Jacen Solo, a character from the star wars EU. Eh... agree to disagree on that. Anyways I won't derail the thread haha
