Dragon Age has always had a nice range of styles in their weaponry, from the humble to the outlandish. But are there any weapon details/designs you'd like to see in a future game? I'd love to see more pattern-welding in their weapons/armor accents... Contrast patterns and tinting (blue-ing, etc.) s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/0b/f5/79/0bf57917944b1beae993790b2abd94e4.jpgLove the transition from rough to finished on this one... and that idea (rough->finished) could be applied so many interesting ways. I really wish I hadn't lost all my cool weapon images I had from ~10 years ago, there was a short sword from the SwordForum that had the most beautiful transition in contrast/colour from spine to flame-styled edge. Really stood out. More interesting pieces: Burl wood accents: Other... stuff.

Yes, please. To all your suggestions.
I would add, that if crafting comes back to the extent of DA:I, that we can 'upgrade' schematics. Oftentimes I found a dagger or staff or armour that I loved the look of, but it was Tier 1 or 2. Allowing upgrades to the schematic would let us keep the look we like without sacrificing 'muh stats'.
Curved swords would also be cool, but in general, more detail and differences in and around the hilt/handle and carvings would be great.

Or if they're going to change up crafting in any way, hopefully it'll be in a way we can keep favorite designs relevant at all levels of play. Also, even a couple of new weapon types would be a welcome addition. It was nice to finally see an option other than a staff for mages.

Just as Bianca was twist on the crossbow design, I'd love to see a twist on the typical bow design. I ran across this image, and while I don't think it would work as is, it was nice to see someone thinking outside the box. i.imgur.com/rqAY7VW.jpg

what i would like is basically new assets and not just reused from previous games, secondly i would like some clear design differentiation between dwarven items, elven and so forth which i feel is generally lacking overall in weapon design and i guess to some degree armor.

In going through some Artstation pics, I thought I'd resurrect a couple of the older gear and environment threads. While I'm usually on the fence with crystal-based weapons, there were a couple of elements I quite liked in this one. The satin finish in particular looks really sharp here, as well as how the translucency is handled (thinner to thicker material).

First i know its pretty to quote an over 5 years post but i would make for some already existing weapon assets an exception. Do you guys and girls for example remember the Blade of Mercy?
I think it would be great if those would make a return because they are (much?) more common in Tevinter. Also it would make the DA 2 gift quest more special in the end. But i would prefer if Bioware would use the unrestricted version of the blade because it doesn´t look that bland as the normal one.
Also Stens sword Asala should make a return (regardless if you help Sten or not. I highly doubt that he could ever be Arishok without it)
And last but not least finally some Awakening love. Vigilance should after all these years return (regardless if its a long or greatsword) I mean Bioware didn´t cut it for no reason in DA 2 because it would feel to forced but with Dreadwolfs focus on the crows why shouldn´t Vigilance return?

Yeah, Vigilance definitely had a stand-out look. The swords with some interesting curves/hilt designs tend to be my favorite. The Empress's Point is another favorite, even if the balance is a little odd. I'm hoping staff-spears make a return for mages as well.

I was thinking in the lines of stuff to add to weapons. The Dragon Bow in Inquisition was a neat design but may not have been realistic. So instead maybe just have paint and other things that can be engraved on your weapons. These can be purely cosmetic, or if they are bold, they can add this to a rune system for DA D, so if you put a fire rune on your bow for instance the limbs look like they are engrossed in flames.
I also second the idea of upgradable schematics.

I just beg to have more staves (or be able to craft them) like the ones we got in Trespasser/shipment chest. With the cold buffs and glyphs. I loved those so much but the schematics weren’t added. I’m still bitter to this day.

Quick question to everyone here. Do you think there should be transmog for gear items in DAD?
(For those that don't know, "Transmog" is the ability to import the looks of one gear item onto another)

(For those that don't know, "Transmog" is the ability to import the looks of one gear item onto another) I hope so. It'd be great if DA:D had a transmog feature as robust as the latest AC games. Not only could you swap appearance, but you could hide individual pieces of armor and weapons. Having multiple gear/ability sets you can swap between would also be helpful.

I hope they will balance the inevitable outrageous and comically stupid designs with some realistic and sensibly-sized weapons, that's all I am hoping for at this point. Detailing etc. is pure luxury, but one design I'd really like to see is flamberge-style blades. Blades like these really existed and they look just cool.

They remind me of running around with giant foam weapons called boffers as a child. Quick question to everyone here. Do you think there should be transmog for gear items in DAD? (For those that don't know, "Transmog" is the ability to import the looks of one gear item onto another) I enjoyed the cosmetic outfit slots (which affect your appearance) in swtor being seperate from the equipment slots (that you benefit from the stats of). So I'm sure that I would enjoy transmorg if it was in the game. I could see more "in universe" ways of allowing the player to control their appearance. Like being able to take any weapon/armour to a crafter to upgrade it's stats (allowing you to use that cool looking thing that came with inferior stats, or enabling that sentimental item that was awarded or gifted to you to keep up with your level through the whole game). And when weapon/armour crafting being able to combine any schematic appearance with any equipment bonuses.

I suspect part of the reason why they have oversized weapons is for increased visibility when you pull the camera back. Probably, but one could also argue that with the birds-eye camera / pulled back view the awesome faces of my character & companions are too small to see properly too so I want them scaled up by 200%. I remember older RPGs that used realistically sized weapons and I did not bother that they were harder to see.

I would also prefer realistically proportioned weapons, but then I'd also prefer realistic combat speeds. If it takes my warrior three days to wind up for a swing, then the surfboard on a stick may be the better option. At least that would look as heavy as the characters act like it is.
