Both our Ryder and the N7 guy wear shoes rather than combat boots:
(1) I've checked the two vids
(2) Combat boots are designed for grip, ankle stability and for rugged terrain
(3) In a toxic environment, Ryder must be in a outer space style suit for protection.

I find the use of shoes an odd design choice when wearing combat armour.

Anyone else find it odd that the artists and Artistic Director went this route?

Yes, but Bioware writers and artists haven't exactly demonstrated a keen understanding of combat and tactics or generally just common sense practicalities in past games. All one has to do is go back to ME3 when you return to Earth. By all means cluster your armada together into one tight formation. :rollseyes:

I think they forgot space is vast in 3 dimensions. I thought about that assault quite a bit and if they could have portrayed it any worse I'm not really seeing it. :hithead:

So outfitting the PC with shoes over boots doesn't really surprise me.

I think that there are worse things bioware can do (armor wise) than giving Ryder shoes.. (I don't want to see exposed skin in space ever again..)

Its one of those things you dont notice till someone points it out to you. I just hope its not one of those things you cant unnotice later.

After 5 years and $40 million they give you a Mass Effect beta demo to prepare for Anthem. Sold at full price featuring never to be resolved cliffhangers. BioWare is over Pyjaks.

This was the biggest imersion breaker on ME2. People walking half naked/normal clothes in space/toxic atmosphere was :nupe:

A bit on ME3 too with the lack of helmets to Liara and Javik.

i really like pathfinder's setting but i REALLY don't like how focused on min/maxing the rules are. it's designed from the ground up by and for min/maxer's and autists. the rest of us normies have to play on crayon eater difficulty just to hit a target.

I would rather wear a comfortable high tech sneaker than a boot any day of the week rather than a boot. Since technology is undoubtably a lot better re foot wear I would deem this to be about #1278 on a list of problems.

They have the look of shoes, but I honestly think that they're a part of the armor- or they may be a new kind of combat shoe where they're more comfortable and flexible for the feet, but the material is sturdy enough for combat. It may be an upgrade you can get into the game using materials that you discover in Andromeda somewhere. Yeah this. They don't look that bad at all to me. I'd actually rather have something that looks like this, streamlined and with more flexibility while retaining practicality, than those enormously bulky things that look not just heavy but also restrictive to movement.
