Anwar says helium, water, ice, and element zero. As far as I know, water and ice are made from the same element. Is this an oversight or am I missing something?

I told myself that perhaps they wanted to make sure the colony had easy access to fresh liquid water and wouldn't have to spend energy on making ice out of it because.. they need the energy for other things. Yup. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

There are different forms of ice like dry ice has a slightly different chemical composition to 'water'. Generally speaking it seems that 'ice' refers to any traditional liquid at room temperature is then solidified at lower temperatures.

It may just be the way the voice actress says the line. "Water, ice" vs. "water ice". Ice does not necessarily have to come from water.

Of course it's not an oversight. It makes sense. Bioware doesn't make oversights. They nailed the first three games. People need to stop criticising bioware. Water and ice are two different compounds. I trust bioware, they know how to write fantastic stories. Be grateful for this ice and water from bioware.

Water and ice are not the same elements but a chemical substance, technically. Hydrogenium+Oxygen are the elements. So i believe the guy on the video meant resources instead of elements. They have been posting several mistakes like Heleus/Helius, Sara/Sarah...so whatever. don't punish them because of that, the game will still be great! |

It's a different compound. It comes from other things apart from water. Ice isn't just water in solid form, it's much more than that. This makes sense like the crucible from mass effect 3. |

Not all ice is made of water. Like colfoley pointed out, "dry ice" is frozen carbon dioxide (CO2). Water (H2O) is not an element, it's a molecule. Hydrogen is an element, oxygen is an element. They probably meant liquid water, and water ice, though. Such a distinction matters when talking about potentially potable water sources.

Don't assume it's dry ice just because you want it to make sense. Ice and dry ice are not the same thing and if they meant dry ice, then say dry ice.
