I have read a few reviews where folks seem to have played it on the PC, but they had no details about how the HUD works on the PC, and I have not seen any videos for the PC yet. Does anyone know of a good review for PC gameplay? What I specifically want to know is... 1. Is it optimized for keyboard and mouse (I remember DAI was very poorly optimized for PC, and I am curious about how it feels on KnM). 2. Do PC users have to use the wheel to switch between powers, or do we have the ability to use keys 1-9 for the powers insteaad? It is the number 1 reason I like using PC for RPGs. Dragon Age Origins was a whole different game when I could map all of my powers to number keys. Also... I cannot aim for crap with the weird little stick on my PS4 controller (I am old), so I need my mouse! Thanks for any help! I have been googling like crazy to see if anyone has discussed this, but all I get is that PC will have controller support, which doesn't help me at all!

Every one of those "gameplay series" videos that has come out recently (combat, powers, etc) has been recorded on PC. I do not know the answer for the first question as I haven't played it myself, but for the second question you can only have three powers active at any given time. There is a "favorites" feature that lets you store four different sets of powers, and you can swap between those favorites on the fly, but there is no way to have more than three powers mapped at the same time.
edit: See here.

Like pearl said, all gameplay footage, except for the PS4Pro stuff at Sony's event and three menu shots in the December trailer, eveything has been on a gaming PC. They also said on twitter that favorites can be hotkeyed for quick swapping. In all likelihood, there'd still be a wheel popup for those who want to use it, just like in the first three games.

Wouldn't a PC interface say something like "spacebar, E, F, shift, etc) instead? Sorry if I sound like a moron, here! Also, I understand from the gameplay trailer(s) that we can only use 3 powers at a time, and that we have to switch to a different group to access a different three powers. What I was curious about is whether anyone knows if, on the PC, one accesses the other power sets from a wheel, like shown in the video, OR if there is another way it works on PC (like 4 different keys mapped to each of the 4 groups you can switch between). No worries if you don't know...and thanks for answering!

I didn't play Andromeda as well, but i'm a huge fan of Mass Effect and played all 3 since the first installment, all on PC and it has always been a PC game to start with, so yes, it will be optimized for PC controls. And yes again, because, at least up until now, the other games had buttons 1,2,3 for powers, (Space) for interact with stuff in Multiplayer, as well as get in/out cover (cover now will be different), and Run. so pretty simple and easy controls. I bet now it will be a little bit more complex because we have more mechanics i believe, but rest in peace, it will be fun

PC version has kb/m and controller support out of the box.

Even if those gameplay vids were recorded from a console, I'm pretty sure the HUD will be the same on PC. Why? Because this time, Bioware needs to harmonize the PC and console versions so that we can play the game on PC using a controller if we want to. It wasn't the case with the original trilogy and it was a pain because there were no really good controller profiles available.
That's what I'm really hoping will happen: just one HUD for both versions. Worst comes to worst, I'll use an Orbweaver (gaming keypad with a joystick) but I'd rather have the option of using a controller.

Because this time, Bioware needs to harmonize the PC and console versions so that we can play the game on PC using a controller if we want to. Dragon Age Inquisition supported MBK and controllers and it still had two separate HUDs. However, you needed to swap those in the options, whereas I believe it's been confirmed that in MEA it swaps on the fly, so I agree that it will probably be a universal user interface.

The reason you see the "controller prompts" is because BioWare hooked up a Xbox 360/Xbox One controller to the PC. Unless games are exclusive to console, all AAA games almost always showcase their games on a high-end gaming PC (PC ports always have the best visuals for multiplatform titles). Also, shooters are always better with a mouse and keyboard. MEA will be no different in that regard.

Part of the reason why they use PCs at least the way I understand it is due to the limited hardware of consoles. When demoing the game they haven't optimized the game to work on a console until near the end of development so the game might not even work on a retail console. Its kinda like Dragon Age: Inquisition where they were demoing content that was cut during optimization so it would work on the PS3/360.

Optimization comes late in development. That being said, you know as well as I do that the publishers and developers will want to show off the prettiest version of their product. That's always going to be the PC port at 4K with higher textures, higher framerate, and more post-processing effects.

I know I have seen articles proclaiming that games will be coming to the PC since when demoing the game was on a PC and in reality it was just a test machine.

I usually prefer shooty shooty games on PC to be played with M&Kb but when I recently tried Mass Effect on PC for the first time.... oh my! Had to go and install a mod that reverts it to the original Xbox UI overlay and controls.... It's quite apparent ME1 was intended to be an Xbox exclusive

It's quite apparent ME1 was intended to be an Xbox exclusive It is one of the few times that the people that keep saying "port" are accurate. It was originally to be released as a 360 exclusive and Dragon Age: Origins to be a PC exclusive. BioWare contracted out the PC port to Demerge Studios who did one of the better port jobs I have seen for a PC title.
