And no, you can't just say 'Don't.' If you do, you're a butt. I don't necessarily think it should be something they do either, but for the sake of conversation, let's say that they do. BioWare did state that a reliable route between the Milky Way and Andromeda was one of the long-term end goals of the initiative, so who knows what could happen.

Let's say this is Mass Effect: Andromeda part 3 or something.

How would you go about it? 

I'd probably try to think up some Remnant technology, that gives the Andromeda Initiative some kind of wormhole that could potentially take them to the Milky Way. It'd be extremely dangerous, especially given that the previous attempts to contact the MWG via QEC just ended in blank static. Maybe have some ultra-dramatic, Interstellar esque wormhole scene before being deposited somewhere unknown in the Milky Way galaxy...maybe. Who the hell knows where you are.
