For example today, with Docsteely, we managed to do pug gold under 16 mins! Match time is not necessarily an indicator of a good match. 4 recon spamming DAIs with Armored compartments couldn't possibly be more dull. Grenade spam is also dull. I'd rather play a 20 minute gold game with rarely used kits/loadouts than a full-powered speedrun (unless agreed upon beforehand.)

Yeah, I understand you, I like to try new things too. But I'd rather play quick game with people who know what they're doing and move on than play with pugs with Predators for example. I do not like grinding. That's a game killer to me. But you know, everyone have a different preferences.
Also look at the "Your last PUG in one word" thread. How many complaints people wrote about a game which went too fast? And how many complaints about stupid builds, pug behaviour etc. is there?

Those two were really good pugs (that's why we switched to plat remember?) but don't get used to it. You're more likely to get a pug like that KroSent who left on w7(!) on that Reapers/Glacier gold game. Truth is we were lucky today...

There are a number of factors you can check for in the lobby before the game starts, and make a determination on who is/isn't worth reviving. Things like: -Are they a Harrier TGI? Yes = No revive. Anyone in the lobby who doesn't meet any of the list criteria, stay close to them and revive if possible. Even if they are running all over the map, it's pretty certain they know what they are doing, will make the match go much more quickly/smoothly, and if they do happen to go down you will be there to help them help you. Crap, I'm not getting revived

There are a number of factors you can check for in the lobby before the game starts, and make a determination on who is/isn't worth reviving. Things like: -Do they have Equipment? No = No revive. -Do they have a Piercing Adas? Yes = No revive. -Do they have a Best of the Best banner? Yes = No revive. -Do they have an N7 Fury with a PPR and a Black Widow? Yes = No revive. -Do they have an absurdedly high amount of Challenge Points? Yes = No revive.-Do they have an absurdedly low amount of Challenge Points in relation to their N7 Rank? Yes = No revive. -Do they never shut up? Yes = No revive. -Are they playing music from their smartphone over the ingame voice chat? Yes = No revive. -Did they tell you to go play a lower difficulty? Yes = No revive. -Are they a GI? Yes = No revive. -Are they an Incendiary Reegar AIU? Yes = No revive. -Are they a Harrier TGI? Yes = No revive. -Are they a melee-spec Juggernaut? Yes = No revive. You can add to this list as you see fit. Anyone in the lobby who doesn't meet any of the list criteria, stay close to them and revive if possible. Even if they are running all over the map, it's pretty certain they know what they are doing, will make the match go much more quickly/smoothly, and if they do happen to go down you will be there to help them help you. some of us just like to rotate through kits and weapons a lot, does that make us unworthy of revives? Half of your list are factors that make me quit a pug lobby these days, let alone reviving, guess I am an elitist For example today, with Docsteely, we managed to do pug gold under 16 mins! Match time is not necessarily an indicator of a good match. 4 recon spamming DAIs with Armored compartments couldn't possibly be more dull. Grenade spam is also dull. I'd rather play a 20 minute gold game with rarely used kits/loadouts than a full-powered speedrun (unless agreed upon beforehand.) I completely agree with your post. To each their own of course, but I'd rather get a challenging match while sporting sub-optimal loadouts than rush through two matches where I have to pray a spawn drops in the right spot for a chance of contributing. I had a gold pug yesterday go over 30 minutes, because my HAdept with her Phalanx had to carry 2 and a half pugs (one quit on wave 6, sorry cleaning up on my own took so long, you would have been happy I saved my missiles when we got targets on wave 10) kicking and screaming vs collectors, and I had no regrets at the end; just as I had none in leaving lobbies with plat speedrun loadouts, and the N7 and CP to go with that. Then again, I am a slow reptile, so rushing is not in my nature that's probably why I think gold is best experienced in a duo actually None of this applies to games with friends. I know the players there, their tendencies and how they approach the game, so I go into matches fully knowing what to expect. Which is why I thoroughly enjoyed running a goofy BatSent with Sonashii and Docsteely yesterday, trying to get as many different kills as possible and meleeing (not the heavy variant) 3 primes to death - talk about the Executioner

had a lot of failed silvers recently, which has been hella frustrating, never had so many before, but I've noticed there is a dramatic upswing in new players, which I see as extremely positive. I think while frustrating now it'll be better in the long run, presumably new players are getting into the series and MP before Andromeda's release.

No, they're not. They play like score whores and fail at it. Not to say there aren't any successful score-whoring pugs, but they usually have a Reegar, warp+incendiary or grenade spam in tow. This is very true, I stand corrected Btw... I love the Reegar! Only pugs fails at using it but me... I'm awesome with it!!! It's basically on a close-combat kit like tha Valkyre or the AssGuard is an automatic "win button" ps: But as a friend, I would always ... have your back

Well, I fall into at least 3 of those categories (GI, Incendiary Reegar, pretty absurd amount of CPs (~130k or so).

You know, "Uhh, that's bait", some at least. I use to have some such rule for power user players strapping on heavy weapons, then one day Mission_Scrubbed joined our lobby with a Javelin Asari Vanguard...no rules.

If you know what you are doing that's 100% true, the AIU don't even come close to the dmg output that's possible to do with the BatSol and Kroldier, but 99% of the pugs can't stay alive longer than 10 seconds per wave with those kits, that is why you see so many Reegar/AIUs and TGI/Harriers with GC V in pugs.

I should play more Gold, the one game I did play was full extract, everyone seemed to have a decent idea of what to do. That was probably more the exception than the rule: Gold pugs are generally just as worthless.

I triage it a bit more differently. Am I busy, you know counting the number of swarmers on the ground or admiring the way the blood smear looks like abstract art? If not sure I'll revive them, otherwise fuck them they have their own equipment let them use it. Only way I'm reviving someone is if I get something out of it, to kill them more with the reactor or abombs or if they're about to be revived in front of an instakill enemy.

Jokes on you. What you think are typical scrub PUGs are actually all of us on our undisclosed alts. It's part of the role play experience and keeping the game alive until we reach Andromeda. My favorite is not contributing to the team at all and just dodging mobs after everyone wipes to see if I can get everyone to quit out. It's even better when people have mics and try to coach you.
You should do it sometime, it's quite refreshing.

Kind of having the opposite experience on XB with pugs, been running gold for almost a week and pleasantly surprised, they actually use gear....lol, only issue is objectives, they just for the most part are off killing and why oh why do players run to the LZ at 2 min......I wait for them to die then head in.

My PC pug experience the last week or so has been all over the place. Sometimes they're awesome (as in, I'm at the bottom of the scoreboard, and I'm fine with that), other times they're... not so awesome. A few days ago, I was doing a silver pug out of laziness, and had such a bad group that I was actually happy to see a Reegar AIU. I just finished another silver pug where one of the two TGIs died more often than my ungeared asari adept. Oh, and after having played a Harrier TGI in a pug with SalMacRas, not getting revives is confirmed. (In my defence, I'm planning to try my first gold solo with that kit, but I haven't played it much.)

When I feel like being an ass I just do it on my main account. cba to roll an alt because then i have to relog origin

Ahh, no worries! Technically, I wasn't one of us yet, my account didn't get verified until this morning. I appreciate the thought, though! Besides, with the amount I was dying on Dagger, even with a TGI, I would've gotten fed up reviving me too.

The way I look at it from my point of view. It's more or less up to the pugs at that point they either improve themselves, or just stay being deadweight trash on the team that can't carry their own weight. And there's not exactly a filter in place to keep out the kinds of pugs you don't want.
But even then, I do enjoy the challenge of carrying pugs that may or may not be suitable to be on gold at first glances for me at least.
