Check the quest at the beginning. "Know your enemy" -- and it seems a very bring back creature research materials.

I like the way it moves, still wish it had a cannon. A less superior version of the almighty Mako.

Damn. Those cannons are awesome. You can practically feel the recoil. I'm detecting a little bit of sarcasm. But true, we can upgrade everything on it but weaponry. The first time i would encounter hostile forces be it aliens or human pirates, i would say to whoever maintains the Nomad, that it needs weapons, now!! some medium-light weapons, some rocket launchers and a few Cains. If Shepard could carry them, then a vehicle can too.

I'm very torn. On one hand, as a game it looks just fine. On the other... there's like several new things in this video that reaffirms the "DA:I in space-ness" that I don't want to play... not from a BioWare game. For one, the quest objectives is the second row of "do x amount of things" we've seen just like Inquisition and you can already tell those objectives are arbitrary gameplay goals with some tacked on story-relevance. In essence all gameplay objectives are, but games that do storytelling well hide these things and keep you engaged in why you're doing it instead of thinking "Oh I gotta collect the quest thing". This is shitty, and not Mass Effect-esque.
Another minor thing is that the map is ripped straight from DA:I and reskinned. The way it moves, zooms and has that layering you can swap with the triggers. Sometimes I worry that this game wasn't originally on schedule to be like DA:I but due to complications with development they simply brought in the DA:I team to get the bare minimum and passable experience ready just so the game won't suck from a mainstream perspective.
The Companion AI when they're idle moves exactly the same way as in DA:I. If you stand still they come walking towards you and when they stop, they turn around and move backwards a bit and they have the same sense of weight and I just know they'll get in the way because of their pathfinding being sucky.
Eh. Let's look at the positives though. The mining from ME2 is back but mixed into the exploration which is good, so instead of just looking at a UI while your arbitrary mouse cursor is scanning on a planet you now see the scanning fluctuations as part of the HUD while you're in the Nomad. I like it because it makes it seem like it's part of the vehicle's functionality and it makes scanning a more active process and unlike DA:I I don't think there's some counter that goes up every time you scan like "Power" or "Influence". Minerals are simply items you get, that you may need sometimes for quests and otherwise simply for your own needs.
I was literally just playing ME2 after testing out my mod in Samara's mission before I logged on and saw this new video so I can't help but notice the difference between what Mass Effect used to be vs this. We get a lot of Far Cry game design as a tradeoff for weaker facial animations, so-so visual consistency, probably a weaker story and eh... I love freedom but not if it's like an Ubisoft game which is what DA:I was and what this is shaping up to be. The point of exploration should not be to exhaust content by quantity but to do things the game draws you to do so you're sucked into the game experience. There's a cheap way of doing it and there's a good way to do it. This is the cheap one where everywhere is littered with arbitrary objectives so you have to play for 80 hours to run out of stuff to do. Compared to ME2's narrative focus and also Zelda which I'm playing it's just not very exciting.
But, it'll be good enough if that's anything to sing praises about.

I still wants me a shuttle :/. C'mon its 2685... why are we still using obselete car based technology from 600 years in the past?, When a shuttle is by far the superior means of transportation/weapons platform and makes far more sense from a lore pov and much more logical from a within the mass effect universe pov. Plus a shuttle would be much more fun and immersive imo.
But i digress. I could easily the Nomad becoming like the Arkham Knight batmobile/tank sections. I think the Nomad should rather be a tool in your arsenal, a tool in your utility belt as it were~, and not an integral linchpin of gameplay. Thats gonna get repetitive, all meh and old quick if it is so. Hopefully they can avoid that. The Dragon Age Inquisition like collectithon hinted at in the video is not a good sign though. Im getting a Hinterlands vibe. Thats not what Mass Effect is to me. I hope im wrong, but my hype is dieing down the more i see of these videos.

Shuttle = ME3-style missions where you're dropped off in a linear area to complete an action level. No thanks.

Shuttle = ME3-style missions where you're dropped off in a linear area to complete an action level. No thanks. No it doesnt equal that at all. Who said a shuttle in Andromeda would have to be exactly like ME3 regarding the gameplay mechanics?... The shuttle(ie the Kodiak) in my vision would be fully controlled by the player and be used how the Nomad is currently, (and hell you could even have seemless planet/upper atmosphere to surface(and vice versa) travel with a shuttle. How cool would that be to pilot through that to and from the main ship , instead of it being a cutscene or fade to black etc. Little details like that would add so much to the game, the immersion and the space faring. You'd have a lot of possibilities. What about somethling aerial/orbital combat, dogfighting or air to ground combat as well etc etc. But something like the nomad strikes me as much more 1 dimension and restrictive. Its going to get old quick). But idk why you automatically assume shuttle = ME3's interpetation. That shows a lack of imagination. There's so much more one could do with the concept.

I was looking forward to the seamless transitions advertised for this game... these videos have been very disappointing.
I thought the game was supposed to be seamless but it fades to black and comes back and the nomad is just magically there, instead of falling from the sky like a badass mako. there is also no animation for entering the vehicle... is it seamless or not? i have not seen any seamless transitions in any footage so far but that is the #1 thing i was really looking forward to as far as a serious change in this game, ever since they told us about it. Is it just a lie?

The real question is how many planets can we land on that will let us use the Nomad? A "handful" of worlds is very vague.

I was thinking, people are complaining about "not enough Sara in the videos, it's always Scott", "facial animations" and such, and here I am looking always at these Xbox buttons... Can we have some video that shows how good the game performs on PC for a change? I don't know if that is truly on PC with the Xbox controller, or are they just playing on the XBX1. If anything, can we at least see how good the M+KB control scheme is? That will be my particular complain. I can see that being a thing, especially if we're supposed to get in and out of the Nomad very often. It's one of those things that look cool at first, but ends up being a nuisance.

IGN confirmed on their end that all of their IGN First videos for ME:A are from the PC version. You can also tell in videos by the "Exit to Desktop" command in the pause menu. Generally speaking, devs will always try to show PC footage of a game vs. PS4/Xbox since the visual fidelity is more appealing.
