Comparing just the vanilla versions I think it will take longer than in ME3...

Fuckin' 600 hours in ME3MP and I still haven't got the Venom shotgun unlocked. It shouldn't take that long to unlock at least the lowest version of something. Maxing out ultra rares, okay, whatever, but unlocking them? Should really not take that fucking long. At some point all you'll get for weeks is ammo, ammo and ammo.
I really hope MEAMP won't be that bad, but it'll probably be worse.

400-600 seems fair. My thought before actually seeing the options was 500. For the record, I have ~2000 hours in DAMP and still don't have that last weapon. I hope nothing is designed like that ever again, in any game. I know this dude from DAMP, he has played it for 600 hours, has stats in the 60s and 70s, has got only 1 Hakkon weapon and unless he is playing with highly promoted players he still can't do Nightmare. It is crazy how much time one has to dedicate to DAMP just to be able to play ME3MP equivalent of Gold, let alone maxing one's Manifest. People complained hard that ME3MP Manifest system was a mess and Bioware was still able to award us with something far worse. I just hope they have learned a lesson or two with DAMP success or lack thereof.

Never really saw it a a grind as I enjoyed the journey very much, groups of us saving credits then having a night of just opening packs and discussing what we received then trying the new toys out. Played hundreds of games, well into the hundreds of hours after my manifest was finished helping others which was fun as well. The journey is great. I had 2 or 3 friends who used to play with me and we all maxed ours just a few weeks apart from each other. And I have played the game much more after having maxed my manifest - my N7 e-peen rank was around 8k then, now it is 28k. Still, I just think that in terms of reward over time a number like 600 hours for instance is a lot, an insane amount of time invested in one game. Most who will take up Multiplayer are not likely to see themselves playing it for that long, but they still need a rewarding sense of progress to keep themselves interested and relatively active. Therefore I believe that if compared to ME3MP, MEAMP Manifest grind should be shortened, ideally halved.

ME3 was too high, most that did it averaged 800-1000 hours. 500 should deffo be max, it's a massive timesink in one game's MP mode, should be rewarded appropirately. More than 500 is just getting rather ridiculous

It was a major drag to me when they stopped the weekend challenges, personally found most of them a lot of fun, signing into the forum and helping others led to many great on line friends, the store seemed to be the biggest issue for those dropping coin, will be interesting again to see how far they take the online game

I have a friend who never got a Heal on Kill ring. That is quite possible to happen in that game. I didn't get a Pyre of the Forgotten well until I was like 5th on the Leaderboards and had played for like 1,000 hours. DAMP has the worst RNG progression system in any game I have ever played or gotten to know about.

I just hope that farming platinum or whatever isn't the only way to do it... Indeed. While I believe that Platinum or something truly challenging should help one's progress, it definitely should not be a requirement to get one's Manifest completed. I maxed mine in ME3 at around 860 hours doing a lot of Platinum, and I guess most players have had similar experiences. Playing just Gold would have taken way longer. Truth be told, Platinum is just not accessible for the common Pug. It is not even viable for most BSNers (myself included) unless they are with friends. This level of grind to get a maxed Manifest under 1,000 hours is just silly, and I hope we don't see anything like that in MEAMP.

I only played ME3MP for 300 hours and I have 5 URs yet to unlock. My only maxed UR is the Valiant, but didn't they have some sort of special event or something that gave you one of the N7 weapons? (Valiant, Hurricane, I think maybe the Indra was in there too...)

Even I didn't participate in most of these weekend events, maybe just did one or two. I only got into MP 10 months after it had been released. But yeah, there were these events which rewarded players with the N7 weapons, the same from the campaign: Hurricane, Eagle, Valkyrie, Valiant and Crusader. These weapons could only be acquired through weekend events, but later they were available from the Store as UR weapons. It would be really nice to have similar events with similar rewards in MEAMP, but the Super Deluxe Edition weekly packs seem to be pretty much the same in terms of rewards. And that makes me wonder whether the community at large is getting packs from weekly events or not.

I voted for 600 to 800 hours. That's about how long it took me to max my manifest in ME3 and I didn't feel like it was a grind in the slightest.

It was fun, especially on harder difficulty with mics. Coordinate everything and all the times shit goes bad - we would go crazy on mic running around. Good times. I just want to feel some type of progress if I can for a long period of time. If I jump on for an hour+, give me something, anything. Even if it's one upgrade on a weapon. If I can leave MP feeling like I accomplished something, I'm more prone to coming back. If I lose three times in a row and barely anything happens, that is on me and I don't fault the game. Edit: Day One of ME3, I jumped on as a shotgun wielding Krogan that would headbutt all the minions and shotgun badass foes (played on lower difficulty at that time).

It should take longer than the average asari's lifespan.
Furthering this goal, Cryo IV ammo should have its drop rate increased by approximately %1337

I laugh at people who beg for insane grinds. I think that a little grind is important. It adds replay value and sense of achievement. But when you have played something for 300 hours and still missing several items, the grind can actually undermine any sense of achievement. Also I believe there should be some alternatives to pure RNG lottery, like guaranteed unlocks on Challenges completion or Weekend events.

I maxed mine at a little over 800 hours and while most of that time playing didn't feel like a grind, overall playing the game for that much and having solid teams to play Platinum with is something that only few players will experience. ME3 Progression system is not that bad when we only take hardcore players into account and if MEA follows the same model it will not be too bad for us either. Yet, I believe that for the game's own sake and especially for its community, the not-so-hardcore players have to be factored in as well. Moreover, less time needed to unlock items will help the renewability of the game's community when veterans start leaving and newcomers arrive.

I think 400-600 hours sounds good, hope it´s not much over that. It should take some time, but still be reachable without having to play the game nonstop for ages.

I am really mixed on this. ME3MP took me around 850 hours to max out my manifest and I thought that was too long.
Then I started playing Destiny and found out what a grind really is. I have well over double the hours in Destiny than I do ME3, even though I played almost every day from ME3 launch to the launch of Destiny in Sept 2014. I Destiny at least the grind is to get new items not just new version of what you already have to upgrade, so maybe that is the difference.
I will be interested to see what this game will be like. If it is true that it will take around 120 hours of single player time (4 times for any MP complete play through previous) to do everything I just have no clue what MP will be like.
I voted 400-600 based on MP3.

Probably 400-600 hours. Maybe more depending on the amount of content they've packed in. It won't feel like much of a grind to me though. I'm sure like ME3 there will be plenty of different things to try out and have fun with using the stuff you got until you unlock more stuff. Never played a ME3 MP match just thinking about the creds you get after the match, had fun during each one too. It'll feel like I'm burning through the grind if the MP is fun and the reward system isn't making things near impossible to get.

ME3MP's took what...about an average of 300-500 hours? From what screen shots I have seen, looks like the amount of characters possibly has doubled and no doubt the number of weapons has increased quite a bit....so I would say 500-700 hours seems like a conservative best 1st guesstimate.

I guess that is for someone who plays only Platinum from the get-go. Mine took 860 hours and most of the people I know were between 700 to 900 hours. The longest I am aware of took something like 1,550 hours; while that sounds like an absurd exception, I have come across some people (strangely all console players) who said to have maxed their Manifest after having played between 1,100 to 1,400 hours.
