I doubt the theory, only because during the streams the guy hinted at the kett not being andromeda native at all.

But if I'm not mistaken didn't one of the devs say not all Kett agreed with Archon's ways?

But if I'm not mistaken didn't one of the devs say not all Kett agreed with Archon's ways? Yeah he did say that. It's also confirmed that the Kett are extragalactic. I'm hoping that it's just a coincidence that the Kett and Angara look similar. I love the Kett's angle of using biological weapons and armour, but I don't want to see a repetition of the "assimilating villain". I'd find the Kett interesting if they were a highly religious extragalactic race who repurpose animals (and apparently Krogans) as biological war machines (similar to what the Locust did in Gears of War, with Brumaks, Seeders, Torture Barges etc). I also want them to feel nuanced. I want them to have motivations other than "we're superior, we do what want, now we'll assimilate you", and I want to see infighting amongst them. I'd love to see ex-Kett forces aiding the Angaran resistance.

I wouldn't care either way, but I actually think this theory might be onto something.
Notice how both Kett and Angara have extremely swept back digitigrade legs, like Quarians.
that was my first clue

So the Kett are Space Darkspawn? It's like Collectors all over again. Bioware should look for new ideas.

I wouldnt mind if they were studying Krogan and used krogan dna on some of their own Kett people to enhance them and make them stronger. But if this is just another typical enemy captures your friend and turns them into a baddie now you have to kill your friends, i will be very disappointed.

I may have already posted this but some points about Angara and Kett features
- Both have very swept back digi legs - both have very broad shoulders and wide bodies, Kett a little slimmer - both have a similar facial structure - both have a very profound forehead
So yes, I can see the Kett as some kind of corruption. I was hoping they were their own species, but im sure someone would start crying space racism if that was the case, since it'd be little different than setting a game in a prequel stage where you're killing 100s of Turians for example
Having the two races be related to each other isn't that original, but its also not that common, Remember Javik spoke of that race that started to turn themselves into cyborgs? I think it was the metacon war one. this could be something similar, just with biological/genetical changes instead of tech.
its not out of the question to suggest that large numbers of angara turned to this new way, and then had a civil war. but at the same time I'm going to hold out and hope that they are their own race. Alec Ryder and I think even a dev said that the Kett are 'not from this area".. whatever that means

So according to new heavy spoilers (First hour of playthrough)
The Kett does not know how to use remnant stuff, and he tried to control some kind of environmental device "healing" habitat 7. I think that the kett homeworld is suffering the same fate than habitat 7 and the Archon is trying to save his world in a very renegade version of shepard kind of way. That is why he come after us, he needs SAM because it could interact with the remnant device.
Maybe they don't assimilate other races into their ranks. Some scan showed that the kett adn is messed up. Maybe they are altering themself adding other DNA species and modify their own. One off the kett dog in a cutscene wears the green jacket.

It's the first time I'm posting on this forum, but I just received The Art of Mass Effect Andromeda, and there is a very interesting page about Kett's origins that I thought I could share. Potentially big spoilers here It is called the "exaltation", and it clearly shows an angaran. But the side notes say that it has been changed to "feel more industrial and similar to an assembly line".
