Have you decided someone to Romance or would you like to simultaneously date them as long as possible while you come to a decision? Need to know for quest suggestions order. I was thinking of romancing both Anders and Isabella. Ultimately choosing Anders over Isabella. Kinda like I did in DAO, I romanced both Leliana and Morrigan, then I usually had to choose over the other.

Oh, another thing. Some people get caught up in upping the constitution. But all that does is increase health pool. Defense is increased by the cunning attribute- it's better to avoid the damage in the first place rather than be some sort of endless pool of blood. So, other than meeting basic constition requirements for warrior, or if you're a blood mage, pretty much avoid constitution upgrades. See I leveled up both strength and constitution for my warriors. Do you think it's too late to invest into cunning? I mean I'm still gonna do this playthrough even if I messed up. But since I am still in act I, I think leveling up cunning until endgame from now on won't be a problem? But what you say makes sense.

Weapon requirements for warrior Constitution later may be as high as 23, so it's not totally wasted. But may explain why companions are going down without attention if your mages aren't buffing with barriers to back them up. Destruction magic is great crowd control, but won't help otherwise I played Origins twice with a rogue, then DA2 with a rogue. And only because DAI fans insisted I'd enjoy DAI more, a mage in DAI. I've come to learn that I hate the mage class in DAI, after playing the game three times with each of the mage specialties, even If the story is better playing one. But then I tried the mage Origin in DAO and a mage in DA2. Loved my Origin Mage Arcane Warrior of ELECTRICAL storms. Like DA2 mages enough. At this point, just controlling warriors sometimes during battle told me Sword and Shield was hella boring. My two handers seemed to die more frequently. And watched my husband playing his two handed dwarf in Origin and was like...Eh. This Warrior Hawke is to try different choices, different romance, different world state. And because I'll love him less, he will be my sacrificial lamb in the Fade in the DAI world state where Alistair is a Grey Warden.

She's more on the friendly side than the rivalry. Though I've only spoken to her once at the Hanged Man tavern. Every time I try to speak to her no cutscene plays after we first talk. I hope in act II she is more talkative. I have Anders on the friendly side also, but we've only had one conversation. It was once he joined the group you can speak to him in Darktown. That's what I liked about DAO, you can speak to companions anytime. I didn't have to wait for specific points or go back to the main hub (i.e the Normandy in ME).

"Dwarves are funny." <- said when talking to Anso about falling into the sky. She also had comments on the Blackpowder quest Javaris gives you. And if you slept with Jethann. And the drunken miners. I like her with Merril. Isa is very gentle to Merril, and they talk about her pirate life a lot. Okay, looking on how to speed up the Isa points enough to get you her romance scene in a natural way.

And because I'll love him less, he will be my sacrificial lamb in the Fade in the DAI world state where Alistair is a Grey Warden. Yes, the sword and shield warrior is boring especially in DAO, it's just dodge and hit, dodge and hit, over and over. The two handers are more in your face, but they fall quickly, like Sten in DAO. Archer rogues are fun, I had a Dalish Elf that was one in DAO. But mages are my favorite, I loved my Jaden Amell never played an Arcane Warrior though. I tried briefly a human female mage in DAI and I liked it too. I used her with Solas, Cassandra and Blackwall, and she was unstoppable. The thing is use Solas or another mage to cast barrier, I always forget to do that and my party dies. lol Necromancy and fire go hand in hand in DAI also for fear purposes. But then I erased her and started playing DA2. But back on topic: Since Bethany is so good at crowd control my next Hawke will be a male mage who will romance Isabella solely. Merrill looks way too young to romance and male Hawke looks too old for 25 years of age.

talyn82 FYI, Fenris has a tiny bug that seems to require not flirting with anyone else in Act 2 before getting his romance scene if you want it to happen. But if you definitely don't want him...and you're absolutely certain about a Isabella to Anders move, then here you go. In DAO, there were gifts a plenty; general ones and plot relevant ones that got you scenes. in DA2, there are gifts, but they are only the plot relevant ones. In Act 2, Flirting starts to matter- it will raise game romance flags. ACT Two-After the Intro scene, Calling on the Captain: Visit Aveline down the stairs. Then go to the Black Emporium (which is a tiny DLC) to change your looks to show time changed. (this is the same place you visit in DAI! Now you know how Cullen knew about it.) -A lot of companion related Visiting Quests pop up in your journal immediately. Don't Do Anders right. now. Repentence- (If you ave Sebastian, you can finally pick him up here.) He's a better Archer than Varric, IMO, and you can immediately fill up his Special Skill Tree. All the loot areas are refilled. Don't click the Evil Tome yet, we'll come back to that. Speak with Fenris- A Chat with Fenris (GOsh, I love his background music.) Ongoing Search- A chat with Isabella in the Hanged Man Plans for The Future- A Chat with Varric in the Hanged Man. Actually, you might click on him twice for two different scenes. Blackpowder Courtesy- You go to Viscount's Keep and Bring Fenris, Isabella, and Merril for interesting dialogue on this mission. There is no approval to gain on this mission, only rivaly, but I don't see you making any of the decisions that would net rivalry. Speakl with the Qunari outside the compound to pick up a side quest. you WILL pick up a gift for Isa on this quest, so check the nooks and crannies of Smuggler's Cut when you get there. Helpful Hint for the Battle: High ground can give reprieve. At the end, chat with the Qunari Arishok. Grab Aveline on your way to the Viscount. Then Visit Hawke Home for a scene. Back to the Hanged Man! A Ship for Isabella- Visit during the day. A chat and a gift from the quest you just did for Isabella in the Hanged Man At this point, the Questioning Beliefs "quest" that each companion gets should pop up if it hasn't already. Click on Isabella, and remember to Use the flirt options when they come up. An Update: Talk to Varric as he's just right there. That SHOULD do it. Then visit the Hawke's home again. If it doesn't happen, I can look into it further for you, so let me know. After that. I recommend talking Anders ( Visit Anders) Then do The Qunari Questline a bit more. People ask you to do their quests and it always sounds so important, like, DO IT RIGHT NOW, and so I would rather just not talk to them until I'm ready to maintain immersion about my timing. PS Nothing you say or do during the romantic culmination scenes of any one of your companions will be held against you. It will not gain rivalry or friendship. So, use whatever dialogue you wish. Edit Add: PSS I can't verify for sure that this will get you to where you need to be because I can't see the points your Isa is at AND don't know how you will speak to her, but I'm assuming Diplomatic, Flirting, and Sarcastic. Additionally, I'm playing a PT right now, but I'm actually doing Isabella romance last and Fenris romance first so you will be end of act 2, startof Act 3, before Ie ven get to Isabella this PT. In the past, however, it seemed ridiculously easy to get her into my Hawke's bed. (My first PT, I slept with Isa, then Merril, then Anders and settled on Anders) So, I just can't imagine you not succeeding. Everyone's easy to get in bed, as far as I can see, except Fenris.

Missing so much? More like, more to see the next 6 times you play! This is my 4th PT of DA2, and Merril/Isa/Aveline/Varric have hardly been in my party in the past. So a lot of this Isabella/Aveline arguments (funny!) and Isabella/Merril chatting (sweet and cute!) are very new to me. As well as all the scenes I just mentioned to you with her chiming in! LEveling up Isabella? Do you mean actual points or Skill Trees? The former can only happen by doing as much as you can as Hawke, killing all the bandits at night is the only "extra" really. Skill trees: As a rogue myself, I loved the whole Orange Stabbing Tree. Then using the smoke grenade. Stealth is good if she's getting overwhelmed and wants to back out of the fight to take a second to heal up (but will she use stealth for this purpose if not controlled? Could probably be programmed in). Stealth also increases Critical Chance. If you haven't noticed, so many friend/rival points opens a whole new skill tree that is completely unique to the companion. But hers I don't like much, I did pick the Orb on that tree. But I don't think one on one dueling for a rogue is a good idea. Could be wrong, but I've never chosen it ^^ Isabella gets different romantic dialogue based on gender (not tons different, just a few different lines). So you may try her with a female mage next time unless you just prefer heterosexual pairings.

Oh yeah. There is a potion sold at the Black Emporium that allows you to reallocate your attributes/spells/specializations. So now you can fix any errors you made from Act 1. I've never bought it before but I just found it. ^^

I want to try the various companion combinations I can. As for leveling, I meant what skills to pick. but you already answered that question. I have no problem with same sex pairings it depends on the npc. But usually I go hetero, but I will experiment and see the different outcomes.

I've never bought it before but I just found it. ^^ A respec potion. Oh yes, I can fix Merrill. I messed up on her skills. Thanks for the info.

Thank you for taking the time to post this. I've read it and will re-read it again once I get to act II. It's a lot of information but good information. Be sure to check my OP when you do reread. I was just playing through the start of Act 2 and making some adjustments. My rought drafts are always made after careful review of the Wiki, but since you can almost do any quest at any time, it doesn't give a suggested order. Did find this very good flow chart though. ^^ but it doesn't account for sexing up one companion, then questing for a while, then sexing up the second. SO, my quest order usually DOES account for THAT.

SO, my quest order usually DOES account for THAT. That's a great looking chart. I will use it in conjunction with your advice. Nice find! As for the quest. Hawke, Bethany, Anders, and Varric entered the Deep Roads with Bartram. After a brief cutscene where Bartram is told that the roads are caved in, Hawke runs into Bodahn from DAO. He tells Hawke that his son Sandal is missing. Hawke agrees to find Sandal. Once inside the party faced waves of Darkspawn and a monstrous spider. After a few moments Hawke finds Sandal with dead darkspawn at his feet including a frozen Ogre. Hawke asks if he's alright and asks him how he did all that. He gives her a stone with an enchantment and goes back to his father.

Okay, Hawke and co. just got beat down by a dragon and it's dragonlings. I have to step back for now and come up with a new strategy.

I defeated the Dragon and it's dragonlings! My strategy? Make a B line straight to the dragon with Hawke and pummel it. Then have Bethany, Anders, and Varric shoot at with all they got. We all ignored the dragonlings. After the dragons was defeated we killed the dragonlings. This time the dragon did not go straight to my mages? Afterwards Varric said let's go back to Bartram after we discovered a passage way. We went back and got Bartram. Bodahn and Sandal both thanked Hawke and we all setup camp. Hawke and co> continued to search and found an idol made out of lyrium. Varric called for Bartram to see what they had discovered, then he tossed the idol to his brother. His brother took the idol and shut the party in. Trapping them. The party continued to look for a way out fighting demon, stone golems, and strange creatures called Profane.
So it seem Bartram has betrayed the group. Although I think that idol had something to do with it. Since it had a strange crackling aura around it.
