One particular *SPOILER* in the trailer was IMO not necessary

I personally wouldn't count that as a spoiler but each to their own.

You could kind of see this one coming if you know how plots work.

First rule of spoilers is: You don't talk about spoilers.

It's sort of self-evident, if they had perfectly habitable worlds at the start, there wouldn't be so much emphasis on working hard to make the worlds viable to support life as the crux of the storyline. If you've watched any of the briefings you could infer that much. Finding viable space to live so you can unfreeze your colonists - big part of your goal.

I think inhabiting worlds is a little more complicated than:

Can This Planet Kill You? -------------------------> YES ---------------------------------> Hard work ahead
                    |

                    |----------------------------------------> NO -----------------------------------> Game over you win

I see what you are all saying and it is not that I expected it to be a walk in the park. I just hope this do not mean it will be rinse and repeat on every planet.

I guess Ill just have to wait and se. Maybe it is not a big deal after all - just my initial thought was "why was that necessary?"

Marketing probably wanted people to know how utterly screwed they were.  Bigger stakes, greater danger...the adventure becomes EPIC...and they need something that will stack up to the previous games.  

Agreed I would have thought something like thast would have popped up otherwise there wouldn't have been much of a story to it. It would have been We arrive in Andromeda find the habitats we were looking for and settle on them. the end. I don't know about you OP but to me that dosen't sound like much of a story to be fair. So it was always going to need more than that. There needs to be a reason why the pathfinders are required just like why the Inquisition was required in DAI and this is it the fact that the condition of the Heleus cluster was not as golden as we first thought. So we now have to find a way of surviving on what we can find until we can find or get better.
 

I agree with the OP. This fact revealed so shortly after the "Golden Worlds" vid was disappointing to me as well.

After finishing the game I thought I would return to this post.

I am actually glad that most of my concerns was misplaced!

Still something could be improved but mostly I liked the way BW handled the "Golden World is a bust"-thingie that worried me.

Well my concern was not really about the fact that all golden worlds was a bust. More that I thought the trailer showed me that, and that the humans were the last to reach Andromeda and that all other races were already settled. 

And I am just glad that was not the case - though there are still a few things I would have loved to see in an exploration game.
