I'm going to take a stab at the dark and attempt to put a name to most of these characters(their rarity included), and I will include some of the characters not shown in this selection. If I know or can guess the name I'll write it down; if I can't I'll put a question mark. I'm going to also make some spleculation in regards to the characters we may or may not see on launch(more on that later). At 2:15 there is an image of some of the starting common characters and a rare and ultra rare character. The characters seen in character selection go as follows from left to right(as of 03/08/16): Human Female Soldier/Human Male Soldier(Common), Human Female Vanguard/Human Male Vanguard(Common) Human Female Engineer/Human Male Engineer(Common), Human Female Adept/Human Male Adept(Common) Human Female Sentinel/Human Male Sentinel(Common), Human Female Infiltrator/Human Male Infiltrator(Common) Turian(Male) (?)(Uncommon), Krogan(Male) Vanguard(Uncommon), Krogan(Female) Engineer(Uncommon), Asari (?)(Uncommon) Salarian (?)(Uncommon), Asari (?)(Uncommon), Krogan(Male) Mercenary(Rare), Turian(Female) (?)(Rare)
Characters not seen(as of 03/08/16): Human(Female) Kineticist(Ultra rare), Asari Duelist(Ultra rare)
We know were able to play as Humans, Turians, Salarians, Asari, and Krogans; other races we could play as at launch and down the line(more likely) are: Angara, Quarian, and Kett. I am aware there are other potential races who could be in game, but I will base my information and speculation off info going up until 03/08/16. There are 12 common, 6(known) uncommon, 2(known) rares, and 2(known) ultra rare characters; 13 humman(C/UR), 3 asari(UC/UR, 3 Krogan(UC/R), 2 turians(UC/R), and 1 salarian(UC) making 22 known characters where as ME3MP had 24 on launch. In ME3MP there were 2 of every alien race(Turian, Quarian, Krogan, Asari, Drell, Salarian); so I imagine for the most part every alien race will have an even amount of characters(excluding ultra rares) with at least 2 uncommon and 1 Rare kit. That's 12 kits with 4 races, however this could be a trade off in the sense that while we get more kits per alian race we get less races. With that in mind; the other three races I mentioned could all be part of DLC. I don't see the Kett being added unless through DLC; if the the geth, cerberus defectors, and awakened collector are any indication then there is a possibility. The Angara may be in the MP at launch since they've been shown to be rather prominent in the game; we've seen a Angara sniper among the raiders in the gameplayer video shown in December, so it's not entirely without reason to see some of them among the Apex teams. As for the Quarians I'm more spilt on whether they'll be in at launch or as part of DLC; the nexus is our most likely place to see Quarians since the Turian Ark(both are a dextro-based species so it makes sense for them to be together) is missing up to a certain part of the game, most likely once you find it; it isn't out of the question to see them in MP since they could be some Quarians on the Nexus. This is mostly speculation and a bit of observation based on the content that's been in MP(generally speacking).

Not gonna lie here...seeing a Disciple, a Katana and a Tempest (that is what the "Charger" appears to be), doesn't make me all tingly in the crotch. I would have hoped they get some new skins (at the very least), etc. Not that they had like 5 years to develop this game. Sir, you can't be serious. Avoiding ME3 RGB ending and making derpy faces takes a lot of brainstorming. Indeed. Joking aside, I have a peculiar feeling (similar to the one I get when I look at pics of Dobby) this is going to be like a Modern Warfare 3 fiasco. Trivial changes to the overall MP part of the game. I truly hope I am wrong. I'm hoping they are doing a "bait and switch" with the weapons. They give us some basic weapons since those are the ones the Andromeda Mission would naturally start with. Then release some new crazy weapons that are found in the new galaxy. I think it might be a bit much to hope for though. Nevertheless, the Avenger is still deadly when fired on full auto.

Don't worry during the PeeBee loyalty mission from ign we see the avenger, carried by persons not actually equipped with it, in all its glory in the cut scenes. Then again it was an earlier build of the game. It could have changed. Hopefully.

This is going to be much more vertical level based the more I see it. One is going to have be aware not only of critters on their own level but higher and lower ground. That last video showed a couple of enemies jumping down and being a big threat right away.
And why were they not more imaginative with creature names in this game? A fiend for the large rock guy that is = Brute The rock dog thing is called a Wraith?

I'm hoping that the later "specialty kits" released down the line are going to take what characters like the Juggernaut, Awakened Collector, and Volus adept did and then go a step further. I want to see some really divergent classes in the future. An Elcor artillery class, or a melee focused Rachni Brood Warrior would be my ideal kits.

I'm a bit disappointed. I feel like MEAMP is a reset of my two ME3MP maxed manifests with a "jetpack" DLC. Doesn't feel a lot like a new game to me so far. "What should we expect?" "Something like ME3MP" is not what I like to hear after 1000+ hours in ME3MP. I don't know, I expected a twist like... vehicles for instance. Or bigger arenas. Or bosses, like the Architect thing. Even a fourth power for every kit would have been interesting. I remember ME3MP: I translated most of the week-end challenges and balance changes in the french BSN, and made a player list of 100 french players there for a small but solid community to be built. What I've seen doesn't inspire me this dedication. What I've seen of MP is lazy and cheap. They tried 'different' with DAIMP. Your lazy and cheap comment is idiotic to be honest. The Me3mp model worked great for them, it worked so good that 5 years later tons of people are still playing. so they are tweaking it, trying to address things that did not work in the previous two mp games. We have no good feeling right now what it is going to be like overall but the player base wanted more of the same with some twists.

I am a little disappointed that BioWare didn't go with the skill trees, with multiple powers to choose from, like we had in DAMP. Limiting each kit to just three powers is a great way to inflate the roster, but I kind of liked the fact that you could play a match of DAMP (with the audio muted of corse) and have two of the same character play completely differently, with a totally different power selection.

Beerfish might honestly disagree, but there might be other options than just being inspired by ME3MP or DAIMP. BioWare using the same engine as a Battlefield/front, an engine MADE for big arenas with destructible environment,... I expected just a bit more than an updated, reskined ME3MP, with only two """major""" twists so far: individual cooldowns and verticality. Hourray. Menuing looks way better too. Hourray. But I agree with you, building characters in DAIMP wasn't bad. At least it was more interesting than building characters in ME3MP. Most people had the same build for most powers (not counting all bugged powers that prevented the player to really choose an evo over another). No I actually agree with you. I had called for some of the things you suggest way back and would have no issue with most of the things you suggest. I actually wanted a separate mp component for space battles. My snarky comment to your 1st post had more to do with you using the lazy and cheap angle which I just do not think is the case. I think BioWare/EA realized that the mp part is a big part of their game now. You could say they are being too conservative or staying the course to much but I don;t think it has anything to do with lack of resources or lazy design. In any case we will know soon enough if it is good enough to hold our attention long term.

They have nothing exciting to say about MEAMP at launch. They had five years and extensive feedback from ME3.
