Started playing "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" yesterday. Not my usual kind of game (a lot of walking around and not much actual gameplay) but so far it has its moments...

It's an indie game and face animations are just awesome.BioWare can learn something.Yes the puzzles are the main thing, but gameplay is fun.For an indie game is just great.

Granted, it's technically an indie game. But Ninja Theory has put out major games like Heavenly Sword, Enslaved and the Devil May Cry reboot so in terms of experience they have with developing games and quality I expect from their games they don't really fall into the indie category for me personally. But yes, facial animations are quite good as is the whole look and feel so far.

I like how this game has native 21:9 support but I get some really bad frame drops for no apparent reasons. As in I might enter an are and everything is fine and a few and then suddenly the frames drop like crazy even though nothing happened and then they go back up. I already tried running the game in fullscreen opposed to windowed fullscreen and also lowered some settings even though my PC should handle everything fine (and does so most of the time) and I now enabled VSync because I had some slow motion parts due to the frame drops. Now I get screen tearing on top of that because of the disabled VSync. Seemed like quite a few other people have this problem. Did you run into similar problems and if so what was your solution if there was one. Graphics drivers are up to date as is the game.

So I just finished Hellblade after taking a break from it for a few days after starting it. Can't say I enjoyed it very much unfortunately. There is a lot of good stuff in there like the whole premise of the game, the art and sound design, the overall atmosphere for the most part, and the very well animated facial expressions like muahmuah mentioned before. On the other hand the technical executing wasn't flawless but I kinda fixed it although I had to play with screentearing as a result. What made this game annoying though was the actual gameplay. For the most part it's a walking simulator and there is not that much to see and explore and getting from one point to the next gets boring quickly. Running isn't really running so it takes quite a while. Then there's the puzzles which also get boring quickly because they are so repetitive. At one point one of the voices said something along the lines "stupid runes, only keeping us from moving on" or something like that and I was like "yeah, exactly". It's not that I don't like puzzles at all, I love most of the stuff in the Darksiders dungeons, the 3 main God Of War games and some totally different games like Portal. But here it's basically the same stuff over and over again. Then there is the fighting and what can I say... at first I was like "finally, some action... please give me more" because there was so little of it. But you have the same like 4 types of enemies and the combat system is not that good. It basically came down do parrying and counter-attacking or dodging and attacking. And by that I mean mostly button mashing instead of doing specific and varied combos. No way to level up or upgrade anything, no unlocking of new moves and such. Just the same stuff all the time with enemies just taking more and more hits (if you play on auto difficulty). Also there was some kind of automatic lock-on mechanism active and I can't count the times I wanted to focus on another enemy type first but the game just would not let me. This also affected dodging and was super annoying. Then after basically breezing through every fight without dying once the game throws this awesome looking boss at you and while his attacks were pretty easy to dodge as well he throws this bullshit "everything goes dark-redish" move on you. Sometimes it wasn't a big deal, other times it basically did not stop and I wasn't able to do much. Aside from the fact that he can only be damaged under certain circumstances it took like I don't know how many hundred hits to finally beat him. Too bad, because I actually liked the scene and would have loved the fight if it wasn't so poorly done. Same goes for the end that follows shortly after... all of a sudden the game throws a lot of fights and enemies at you and it's not hard - just tedious. And I was thinking "did you guys notice there was barely any fighting in the first 1 or 2 thirds of the game and now you have to deplete your wave budget or something...". And at the very end I fought for like half an hour until I actually googled to find out what's up with the fight and for how long these enemies are respawning and found out you have to die intentionally there. Enemies just keep respawning endlessly. Could have fought for hours I guess. What bullshit was that... I get that they want you to die, but again: it was just poorly done and there are much better games to do it. Other games have done so. Sooooo... a bit sad about all this which is why I'm writing all this down. Because like I said at first: there is quite some great stuff there and it kinda feels like wasted potential to me. They should have put more resources into this game and make it truly awesome. Now I'm just pissed that there still hasn't been a good PS4 Pro price deal available because now I REALLY want to play the new God Of War game as soon as possible.

Anobody caught The Anthem E3 presentation? Seemed to me a bit... uninspiring. Maybe I burned out on Division and Destiny 2, having played them quite extensively, but gradually losing interest (Des2 being the main culprit; Division is still cool, but hurts my fingers badly). Though it seems that games-as-a-service are here to stay, I personally feel this one's gonna be dealbreaker for Bioware - either it sells bigtime or it sinks and takes whole studio with it :/

Anobody caught The Anthem E3 presentation? You mean "Mass Warframe: Zero Destiny"? Seen the trailer and the gameplay and it looks just like the title I gave it. Mass Effect featuring Warframe meets Horizon Zero Dawn and Destiny. Not too hyped unfortunately. But we'll see. At least not lootboxes (they intend to do microtransactions however I read).

I tried Mass Effect Andromeda MP out of curiosity, just one silver mission, since matchmaker could not find a bronze and... what was that, even? Terrible movement. Terrible gunplay. Questionable map design. Generic enemies. Generic sound design. Just moving across the maps feels like a slog. And strangely dated. If I could erase my memory of the past six years, and someone made me play a match in MEA, then ME3, you would not convince me that ME3 MP was the game released in 2012, and I would think MEA was just some dev flailing around trying to design their first multiplayer!
I notice this is "non ME3 games enjoyed by me3mpers", so for a game I actually enjoy, I play quite a few hours of Warframe.

So here's an interview with ME producer on Anthem, Andromeda and future of ME, along with Anthem gameplay video showcasing ridiculously HUGE DAMAGE NUMBERS... Doesn't say really much, but guy seems to like all things Bioware (as expected). Also game looks ok. I'm personally more looking forward to new Metro, Rage 2 and Beyond Good and Evil 2; highly doubt that BW will ever produce anything close to story drive od ME1/ME2 or tight MP combat of ME3, but at least they're still in the game.

I'm personally more looking forward to new Metro, Rage 2 and Beyond Good and Evil 2 Rage 2 Gameplay looked really nice. Totally excited about it. First game had its flaws and was therefore dismissed but a friend and I were talking quite a bit about how we'd like to see a sequel some day and a few weeks later the Walmart leak happened followed by the official announcement. And now the E3 gameplay looked great. Cyberpunk 2077 Trailer on the other was kind of a let down for me to be honest. Looks far too colorful and happy if you ask me. I want something more along the lines of the first trailer's look. Dark and gritty.

If Cyberpunk is at the same level as TW series, then the game will be GOTY.I believe in CD RED.The only studio which doesn't have a bad game.BioWare onace were the same..Also does anyone know something more about Greedfall? The game looks interesting.I am interested also in new Metro,Code Vein.Tried Vampyr and the game is not bad.I didn't expect much.IMO the game is fun.The story is good.Con is the difficult lacking. At least i don't have troubles to kill everything including the bosses, but i am only at the beggining,so i hope it will get harder later.

I don't think Cyberpunk will be bad at all. Even though The Witcher is not my cup of tea (I prefer Sci-Fi) I know of their work and the quality they delivered so far. So I'm still hopeful. At the same time I was hoping for an overall darker style. Greedfall, no idea - First time I heard that name, I'll have to google it. The games I'm most interested in right now to learn more about are: Darksiders 3, Rage 2, Nioh 2 (even though I haven't played the first yet, it's on my list), Witchfire, Doom Eternal and Cyberpunk. As well as Ghost Of Tsushima on PS4. Then again I have games like Prey and Nioh on PC still to be played as well as God Of War, Bloodborne and Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4 when I eventually get one.

I don't really like the Souls games but that has more to do with the actual setting than the overall game mechanics. Demon's and Dark Souls always felt too slow and boring for me. A good friend of mine played them. Bloodborne on the other hand is faster paced and is more appealing to me. Nioh has the right setting on top of that and is really looking like a game that I might like.

I don't think Cyberpunk will be bad at all. After spending several hours with various videos and articles dissecting trailer and journalist-only demo gameplay, I just want to play that game. So. Badly. It's like Gibson's neon-chrome dream coming alive, dashed with GTA and Deus Ex, made by one of arguably coolest pc devs... Gotta ask my wife to put me into cryopod and thaw me when it launches!

Interestingly William Gibson is not too fond of what he saw so far and wrote this on Twitter about the trailer: "The trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 strikes me as GTA skinned-over with a generic 80s retro-future, but hey, that's just me."
Pretty much my thoughts but I'm still looking forward to it. Read something about the game being dark and less colorful at night so I just wanna see more.

Well I guess the sky over Chiba Night City isn't enough of the color of television tuned to a dead channel While I do hold Gibson (and Sterling and Stephenson...) in high regard, CDPR surely know how to handle their world building. Having read all the fantastic novels from Wiedzmin/Zaklínač/Witcher series and having played all three fantastic games, I can't decide which one are better. Go CDPR!

While I do hold Gibson (and Sterling and Stephenson...) in high regard, CDPR surely know how to handle their world building. That's the thing that let's me stay hopeful that the game will be awesome. Even though I don't really played The Witcher games I think CDPR knows their stuff and is one of the few (nowadays bigger) developers that does a lot of things right. It's not that I was turned off by the trailer, just that I liked the style of the first one which came out way back when much better. But I'm confident they will deliver a great game. On the other hand this expectation might also be a problem: a lot of people count on them and have very high expectations and I'm sure they will disappoint quite a few people even if they launch a great game. You can't satisfy everybody and their idea of what the game should be and look like. If this was a new Bioware game and I'd see something I don't like I'd be super cautious and pessimistic. Pretty much the way I feel about Anthem: curious what it will be like in the end but expecting another fuck up in some way or another.

The game is in development long before The Witcher 3,so i don't have doubts here.CDRED never tried to satsify everybody. It's one of the things i like very much.If the game is RPG then you will get RPG.Not a counter strike with a skill tree.
