Still Chrono Trigger. I'm at 18:24 hours in and about to do my final set of side missions and take on the final boss. Can I get a "Good Luck" Shepard gif? Anyway, what I really want to talk about. This game has got to be the most overrated videogame in existence of all mankind. As my gateway drug into the RPG genre back in 1995 it did great. Blew me away even. But after experiencing several other RPGs since (namely JRPGs) and coming back to this one again, it's flaws really stand out. Not to mention it's time travel logic can't fool a Terminator. As Doc Brown would say; ... Or was it this one?

If judged by the standards of the time when it originally came out (the SNES's twilight years), it it fair to call it overrated? It's not surprising that it feels dated after twenty-plus years. But yeah, this is one reason why I've not replayed some of my old favourites like Ocarina of Time; they were near-perfect gaming experiences back then, but would seem so flawed and dated now. Best to keep the happy memories and move forward with new games On the subject of Chrono Trigger: the time-travel mechanics in Final Fantasy XIII-2 are quite similar, to the point that I wonder whether Squenix was considering making another Chrono game, got as far as some preliminary development, but ultimately decided to use the ideas in a Final Fantasy game instead. I have no evidence for this, s'just an impression from having played both games.

Chrono Trigger could legally drink in the US. I don't know what to do with that knowledge. Anyway, I semi-recently replayed some classic Pokemon games. Thinking about getting back into older console stuff in the near future. But in a sort of reluctant way, because I'm afraid nostalgia will betray me and everything will be ruined forever.

Anyway, I semi-recently replayed some classic Pokemon games. I haven't played a Pokémon game since Emerald, but I suspect I may get back on the wagon with Sun or Moon. Actually, I suspect I'm looking forward more to Sun/Moon than I am to Mass Effect Andromeda...

Actually, I suspect I'm looking forward more to Sun/Moon than I am to Mass Effect Andromeda... I would never be able to play any of the more recent Pokemon games. I'm bad enough at remembering types and abilities with the first two or three generations, but six? No. Too much for me to handle. Q_Q

SNES was by far the greatest console ever made. If you can feel the magic in the classical gaming, you should definitely play Final Fantasy V and VI. Nothing stands better the test of time than classic.

Nothing stands better the test of time than classic. I've played them back on the PS1 Collections, along with Chrono Trigger, and enjoyed them. Vi more then V. IV for some reason never clicked with me.

You don't think better JRPGs and SRPGs came out for SNES and Genesis? I think so. At least for starter FF6 on the SNES is way better. It's been long enough since I played FFIV-VI and Chrono Trigger (although not as long as some; I came to them late, playing the PS1 ports rather than the SNES originals) that I can't reliably judge whether I thought CT or FFVI was better. Certainly FFVI was my favourite of the 16-bit FFs; but choosing between FFVI and CT is very difficult for me. One thing that I think CT has in its favour is the absence of random encounters. I find it boggling that the FF series didn't abandon them until XII (and then for all intents and purposes reintroduced them in XIII-2 ). I don't know how typical this was of the RPGs of the time. In terms of story and script, there's little to choose between CT and FFVI, for me. Ted Woolsey's English scripts were fantastic. (Aside: the much-lauded FFVII is not my favourite in the series; I personally think that it would have been a better experience if Woolsey had written its English script). The Genesis/Mega Drive I can't comment on.

K, just beat it now; Took about 26 hours total. (Aside: the much-lauded FFVII is not my favourite in the series; I personally think that it would have been a better experience if Woolsey had written its English script). The Genesis/Mega Drive I can't comment on. I first rented Chrono Trigger once back in 1995 when it's hype was still very real. Never beat it in that one weekend rental, but made it as far as those floating Islands part. And playing this game up till that point floored me (especially as my first introduction to the genre). My next RPGs I bought and beat were FF7, FF8, and finally was able to beat Chrono Trigger too since I've bought those two PS1 compilations when they came out containing CT and FF4-6. First I played FF7, then 8, then 6 before I finally got to CT again. And back then there was no doubt in my mind FF6 was clearly superior to CT. Though it was this most recent playthough that made me realize CT, though still quite good, may be even further behind FF6 then I originally thought. As a quick summary, yes, CT was an excellent gateway drug into the word of RPGs for me back then. But even when compared to FF6, it's just way too much of an RPG lite version of FF6. As a result great for getting new and more casual players into the genre. And maybe that's also part of the reason why it held so up high everywhere it's brought up. That and most gamers hating JRPG random battles being another thing. (Personally, I prefer random battles. Fits the genre's gameplay structure better & difficulty balance wise when done right. Though for CT is make sense to remove them since it contains quite a bit of backtracking and wondering around aimlessly trying to figure out what to do next. Otherwise random battles also add toward the adventurous feel like your making a long journey in a fantastical work that seems larger then it would without random battles). Anyway, I'm also thinking of maybe starting the SNES version of FF6 right away while CT is still fresh on my mind for a better comparison and analises. And yes, I too am a big fan of Ted Woolsey's FF6, BoF and CT translations (never played SoM yet). So much so, that awhile back when I started a CT playthrough, my run ended right away as soon as I reached Frog. Though I did manage to finish the GBA retranslation of FF6 one, I really missed Ted Woolsey's touch. Like how he made Shadow so much cooler and so on. I too have always wondered what FF7 would of been like had Ted stayed with Square... The Genesis has some really great RPGs too. Not as many, but some that for me are better then what I've played on SNES.

I've been enjoying The Witcher 3 on the PS4. Also do some Destiny with friends on the One.
The main game that I've been loving since launch is Overwatch. Playing it on the One. Love the characters and the gameplay. Competitive mode can make me salty sometimes, but I still have a blast with it.

I'm the worst at actually finishing games. I tend to lose interest and take long long breaks and obviously have no idea what I was doing when I come back. Except The Last of Us, played and finished that last week, such a good game! Got all emotional. Currently playing: Lost Planet 3, Kotor, Mad Max, Shadowgrounds, Far Cry 3, Bloodborne, prob more but I honestly can't remember Not counting Skyrim or Fallout 3/New Vegas because they never end...

My little guy's buddy at middle school is a fellow Borderlands fan, but he also turned him on to Fallout. I already had New Vegas from a free XBL promo, and I landed a dirt cheap Fallout 3 CD key on G2A last night. Great way to take advantage of the handy back compat feature on the XBONE.
Looks pretty amusing so far. I liked how he started off as a baby and what not.

Lately I have been playing a bunch of different games and I switch among them depending on the day and my mood; they are Doom (2016), Evolve, Borderlands Pre-Sequel, Overwatch, Civilization Beyond Earth and Dragon Age Inquisition (campaign, literality for the 10th or so time). When I am done with those games there are a few on my list which I should eventually play, like Battleborn, Divitiniy Original Sin and a few others. They should keep me busy until Black Friday, when I intend to go on a game shopping spree.

I've been working for a while on making a single master patch for Fallout 4(if that counts).I've been trying to make 253 mods work together AND have no conflicts between them, and just finished it this weekend. So I guess I'm finally going to get to actually PLAY the game.I couldn't play it vanilla, but with all the mods I have,it should finally be fun.

Definitely get all the DLC, gunrunners gives you some great weapons, if you can as they are all awesome as well. Old World Blues is fun (and funny) as hell and Lonesome Road is amazing, I'd play the other Honest Hearts or Dead Money first as, imo, they don't hold a candle to the other two.

The last 2 days, I have spent them playing Dark Souls 2. I never got into part 1 cuz it was way 2 frustrating.....part 2 is so much better... the controls are better, the combat is tighter, enemies aren't spammed on top of one another and I can actually make progress in this one.

Ever played Morrowind, man? If not, it's worth a shot. You'd need to get used to the weird combat system, but the world, the storythe atmosphere... Are just unforgettable On topic, The Long Dark got updated, yay! The update looks amazing too, and it might get me hooked again on the sandbox. It's a beautiful little hidden gem of a game, if any of you could appreciate a survival game, then I definitely recommend it!
