I'd rather have 6 squad members with deep conversations and friendship than 12 members with less connection with them. Think about how much time it would take to know all of those 12 members and will you even like them all or will you go on missions with every single one of them?

I'm all for DLC squaddies. Zaeed & Kasumi were excellent additions to the line-up. Now if we could just remove Jacob, EDI and especially Vega.....

There's always a chance in a large expansion a year after release. The vanilla game needs to do great to just justify the risk of further development. Even if there isn't a "secret" one per se, we do know a character was cut and we could always get a kett squadie later. The resources are already there excluding maybe the voice acting. |

Yup, 6 squad members. The point being? Mass Effect 1 also 'only' has 6 and Mass Effect 3 'only' has 7 without DLC. There isnt, those 6 are all we will be getting. They've been fair explicit about it and the known six fill the squad UI, add another and it has to scroll or a different UI. |

One has been cut because he was too similar to the one from trilogy, but Mac said he might come back, so that way we could have exactly the same (7) as in ME3.

6-8 is the perfect number in my opinion.
I would expect dlc's will add new ones to use in the dlc but probably not to the base game this time round.

Depending on the playthrough, the player can have three. Wrex is killed on Virmire along with A/K and Garrus isn't recruited ME2 had 12, but only 8 were required to get through the relay |

Also...to just add to the fact that Dragon Age Inquisition has 9, why do we have less now...
It's because in Dragon Age, you take THREE companions out to the field, in Mass Effect, you only take two. The more people you can take out, then it does follow you need a larger pool.

People over internet always says that ME2 had the best characters/companions, so it seems that how many they are did not kill quality of them, they all had loyalty missions, many dialogues (well maybe not Garrus as he was always calibrating) and some of them also had romances. To me most of them was more deep than ME1-ME3 characters, and ME1-ME3 only had 6. (Gosh I miss ME2  ) I'm not saying I would like to have 10-12 companions, but 7-8 would be perfect for me. |

Although, I really did like his loyalty mission. At least Vega and EDI were fun in the Citadel DLC. Count me in for the quality over quantity side of the discussion. I have no idea how these characters will turn out, but I'm fine with the numbers if they're good characters. |

I think it was about Overload. Or maybe boobs. Overload of boobs. That's it. She was my main stripper of shields. On topic: six seems fine, why is it a problem? Depth of character plus enough range of mates' skills to match anyone. I like the new character creator, you can pick and choose key skills so it should be fine to match squadmates because you simply enjoy their company. |
