DA:I cleaned up with awards only because it released during one of the weakest years for games in recent memory.

It was a decent but deeply flawed game. While the open world was beautiful and companion character content largely on par with other games in the series, there was very little of interest within those sprawling open world maps. Nearly all the side quests were boring and forgettable outside those tied to the companions, and completing the game felt like a chore. Although the game had some legitimately great moments, it wasn't worth the hours of MMO style drudgery you had to grind through to get to those moments.

TW3 was a successful marriage of a strong focus on characters and a partially open world format. DA:I was not, and if the previews are any indication, neither is ME:A.
