How? How was DA I a swing and a miss for BioWare or the open world? The game, apparently sold like hot cakes, was critically acclaimed, and did well in the Game of the Year Awards and other awards at the time. It was wildly successful, no matter what people will tell you, until Witcher 3 came out anyways. DA:I cleaned up with awards only because it released during one of the weakest years for games in recent memory. It was a decent but deeply flawed game. While the open world was beautiful and companion character content largely on par with other games in the series, there was very little of interest within those sprawling open world maps. Nearly all the side quests were boring and forgettable outside those tied to the companions, and completing the game felt like a chore. Although the game had some legitimately great moments, it wasn't worth the hours of MMO style drudgery you had to grind through to get to those moments. TW3 was a successful marriage of a strong focus on characters and a partially open world format. DA:I was not, and if the previews are any indication, neither is ME:A. I dont think it was deeply flawed as you mentioned the game had excellent character interactions and if it was released next year it would probably won a few awards

Its great when something new comes out because there are no ecpectations and people can be surprised and have a new fun game. When a game is part 4 in a series or even related in some way everyone has different expectations and their opinions can differ so greatly. I wish this game was viewed as if it were not ME4 but a new game. It really isnt part 4 its a different game.

The game is not even out yet, and I have already had countless hours of entertainment watching people craft elephants from flies, and brewing tempests in teapots. 10/10 fan reaction! Good game!

I think at this point it's safe to say it'll be polarizing. HOW polarizing it'll be, depends on how much the quality of the story improves in the later parts.

I'd prefer not to associate a franchise I love with any of the shit that's been going on the past few months.

The doom and gloom surrounding Andromeda is starting to feel like the 2016 U.S. Election Night. Like, it couldn't be that bad, right? It's not actually going to happen, right? This sounds like confirmation bias to me. I've mostly heard good things, good but not ecstatic. I think if you're worried about it, you probably gravitate towards negative news and if you are excited about it towards positive. If you are worried about it just wait an extra week before buying it and read a bunch of review and/or watch enough gameplay footage to render your own verdict.

I was wondering that too... The amount of threads like this that could have been emerged into a single one is truly something else, opening this section and it feels like spam at this point, but yeah, I'm sure you're busy with more important things.

But i still loved the shit outta it.

Garrus is bland for the whole first game and then ended up being my favorite character in the 2nd and 3rd one. Characer progression takes time to, you know, progress.

I think the DAI comparisons are somewhat specious. The issues with that game can basically be summed up by Bioware not knowing how to make open world games because they've never done it before. It's the same as the shooting mechanics in ME1, which were terrible because they didn't know how to make shooting mechanics. It got better. You can't just roll out of bed one morning and make Skyrim or Doom. Like Bethesda can't just roll over and be Bioware (dialog system in Fallout 4). I expect MEA to improve on the open world aspect. It will probably still be clunky.

Like any game I'm withholding a final opinion until I play the game. From the streams I've seen on Twitch people are enjoying the game, but I'm still waiting until I can play it myself to make a final conclusion.

Previews and reviews for DAI were mostly positive yet the game was mediocre at best, MEA previews are mixed so far.. I really hope that second part of the game will be much better, with more like BioWare style writing in it, yes I know probably naive thinking but who knows.
