I've been playing on Hardcore, it's tough in spots for sure.
My only problem with Insanity would be keeping my squadmates alive...they are great at dying sometimes lol.

Insanity is challenging as fk.
I feel like I'm under constant threat and have to keep paying attention to the enemy. They come from all sides if you let them. They even tried to pincer me a few times so I had to jetpack backwards and reposition immediately.
Had a blast tbh, and it was only against normal enemies. I wonder how it'll be against harder ones.

The prologue was harder than anything in the trilogy, even Grissom Academy. Really looking forward to the rest of the game.

I finished ME3 easily on insanity.. the prologue in this game on normal was harder than almost anything in me3 insanity. Played a bit on hardcore and every fight always ended with me just barely alive. Insanity should prove a very pleasant challenge on a second playthrough I think.

Insanity is great, just the right difficulty for me. Makes sure I'm punished for doing dumb shit but doesn't make me feel like everything is a bullet sponge.
Though, they're tough enough that I always feel like I'm running out of ammo, even with powers and headshots. Wish you could carry more ammo if you left weapon slots empty.

Even normal is a definite step up in difficulty from previous ME games. It's nice being challenged.
I'll try insanity once I'm more familiar/comfortable with the combat system.

Even normal gave me a run for my money in the prologue! (although part of that was getting to know the combat system). NG+ is definitely going to be on insane!

Insanity is definitely a challenge, unlike in the original trilogy. Regular kett are easy, as is to be expected. It's when you encounter multiple heavily armored kett with armor that things start to become tricky. They take out your shields really fast and are a pain to burn through one at a time. My biggest criticism so far isn't the difficulty of the enemies, but the stupidity of your companions. They will take unnecessary risks and die easily. They are not really reliable or useful at all. I imagine I'll have to constantly order them near me at all times just so they don't run halfway across the area and die where I can't pick them up.

Cora is more CQ, therefore she dies insane amount(since shes my romance partner sigh)

Finished trial with melee vanguard (tier 2 omniblade + pistol) and indeed it was a bit challenging died a few dozens of times Vanguard melee passive really helps, but if there are two regular kett/one heavy besides your target they'll shred you into pieces fast enough. So I usually have to scratch them a bit with Aegis before charging. Unlike ME2/ME3 Insanity where Charge cooldown allowed to keep full barrier indefinitely no matter how many of enemies are around. My only complain is that Fiend can spin around faster than a ballerina, so melee is out of question (if only Cora could realize that, poor woman's spine).

I had to turn Insanity off at a Remnant monolith part because those flying drones were too damn hard. Insanity is challenging, but more so because your team's AI is highly suicidal, causing most firefights to be just you versus an army because your squadmates go down more than a level 1 character in multiplayer on a Gold mission. Still challenging but borders on somewhat irritating at times when you're trying to be strategic and your squad refuses to cooperate.

Ah yeah, that was some nasty difficulty spike, most of my deaths come from that damn place. Good thing is that enemy is as stupid as your team, so eventually I've found a spot with 300 degrees cover and these drones refused to flank remaining 60, so all it took is a bit of patience.

Cora is more CQ, therefore she dies insane amount(since shes my romance partner sigh) Well, I use Cora, and she's really melee-oriented. Whether I put her into a position or not is irrelevant because she will warp to the enemy, which is generally when she dies. I can tell the hardest part about Insanity will be more so managing your companions than the actual enemies.

I guess Vanguard is going to be as broken OP as it was in ME3. I was planning on using Cora + Drakk anyways, with everybody just charging all over the place companions not taking cover should not be such a big problem in the long run.
/edit: I was using Vanguard profile Level 1, Mattock II + Omniblade

What training did you guys choose? Biotic initially. That Backlash ability that's in the biotic ability group that gives a ~400 hp absorb up instantly has saved my life more than once, especially against those defense layered Kett that seems to be using some sort of machine gun. Plus, it reflects damage back onto them, so if it gets the armour down it leaves them open to a biotic pull detonation combo.
