Granted I know ten hours is very limited and it is hard to judge a game like this just ten hours in (if I judged DAI by it's first ten hours I am not sure I would rate it as high as I do). But overall how does the game feel compared to both the original series and DAI in terms of overall gameplay and game mechanics? I guess based on what you have seen (without spoilers) how does Nexus compare to Haven and how does the first planet compare to the Hinterlands in terms of overall gameplay, quest structure and interactions with NPCs?

Not at all... I mean, there are superficial, mechanical similarities in how exploration works, but aside from that, it neither feels the same nor looks the same. Which might actually be a detriment to the game, to be honest... and I say that regardless of the fact that I didn't really like DAI. Besides all the problems Inquisition had, at least it did know what it wants to be and had a clear tone.

Do they feel more meaningful than "go here and collect ten of these or mark 5 of those"? Does it ever feel grindy or MMO like such as DAI did at times?

Well, for now - half way through the first open world planet - the side missions are not totally forgettable yet... at least they have some story behind them. There also is busywork in the form of "find 3 of X" or "scan 2 of X", but it's mild.

I'm afraid that some critics will call it a detriment but for me a fresh approach is a good thing.

Zero grindiness, at least from my first impression of the first planet in the first 6 hours. The amount of things to do on the map was completely reasonable. I also think context is important. In ME:A, everything you do is to solve a problem with making a planet habitable, and I got a real sense that there was a ton of people that were counting on me, so I was motivated to do the side activities that the game had available. Not to mention the whole mystery behind the kett and their motivations or the remnant tech.
Where as in DA:I, I found the side activities no more than simple busy work, or people who want you to do something because they simply couldn't be bothered.
To me it felt a lot like exploring a planets surface in the original ME, only now those surfaces are actually interesting.

I feel this was what the developers wanted for the original Mass Effect with the Nomad and the exploration.
If anything, the massive technical issues are giving some ME1 flashbacks but obviously not in the same extent.
Honestly?
I think Andromeda is what Halo 4 is to original trilogy. It's feels like Mass Effect. It plays like Mass Effect. However something is different for better or worse.
