Yeah that was BS. I'm surprised they were allowed to troll like that in a videogame convention.
The other day some dudes were talking about HL, about Valve not being in the past E3 (like, when was the last time they attended to an E3? lol) and what have you, and I was just smiling. I didn't know them so I didn't felt like jumping into their conversation but I almost laughed at the pointless hope they had.
It doesn't make sense anymore. I played HL1 when I was a pre teenager, and the game was somewhat old already. Who even remember the story now? Who even know what the franchise is about? it'll be aimed for +30 years old at this point and that's something they (Valve) cannot afford.

It's not that they can't do it, it's just that who wants to do it? I remember HL1. It was an okay story, nothing certainly like what BioWare or TellTale have come up with as of late. HL2 was kind'a in the same boat. Decent story, good graphics for the time (I remember seeing my first ragdoll back then). But nothing spectacular. It's like Valve has painted themselves into a corner by being too good. Everybody wants HL3 to break new ground. Valve knows this, and anytime that anybody thinks of doing HL3 they're reminded of it.
