Im thinking of not starting SP in the trial, mainly due to not getting deluxe items, and was thinking of just playing MP but as the MP is kinda linked to SP I dont want to get spoiled too much.
How much of the SP story is 'spoiled' in MP?

Almost none at all.
Except perhaps you may see some enemies that haven't been revealed yet in SP. But these are just lieutenants.
No story spoilers at all

cool, at least i should be able to get some use out of the trial. I know its about 2 hours of SP gameplay before you can access the digital items but i just know once i get to that point i wont want to stop playing  |

I was trying to do a completionist run and -- unlike most people -- I actually got cut-off before the story gate  |
