Opinions Are Like A-holes

Most people are liking the game so far from what i saw in the no-spoilers thread about the early acess.

I would expect that most people that dont like this game arent going to go on this website and tell the world they hate this. Not everyone is a no life troll and will not waste the time to make a login and rant and rant over a game they just absolutely hate. They would move on with their lives and enjoy something else.

I expect enough people will play the game. Check the weeks after the release and see how many sales there are and how many are on MP. That would be a good way to see how popular this game is or isn't.

Reopening after lock and clean up.

I would like to remind everyone that we are here to discuss / provide opinions about the content of this game, not to debate racial diversity.

If anyone has a dire need to discuss such an issue, they may do so in the Off-topic Political Discussion thread.

I just finished a trilogy playthrough a couple days ago.  The facial animation and CC complaints are .....uh .... curious in light of what Mass Effect has served up to us in the past, let alone just about everything pre-DAI.   And DAI is by no means perfect.  It wasn't exactly embraced with uniform enthusiasm by long-time fans or new audiences.

It's obvious Bioware Montreal is struggling with the Frostbite engine.  Some of the facial animations are in the "Polar Express" levels of the uncanny valley ... and some are actually pretty decent.  The quality is extremely uneven, not uniformly bad.

As for the claim of "poorly written characters", I don't remember knowing anything interesting about _any_ of Shepard's team when the Normandy first undocked from the Citadel.  The trial did not provide nearly enough interaction to judge whether Liam & Cora will be interesting or not.  I already hate Cora, though.  Her eternal botox smile reminds me of Sue Sylvester from Glee.  And I worry Liam will turn out to be a poorly written stereotype.  Not everyone from London is a triggerhappy psycho.  (That was a joke.)

Is the writing a bit heavy-handed, replete with telegraphed moments, obvious plot devices and uncle jokes?  Well....yeah.  But what exactly do people think Mass Effect was?  Mass Effect is where my death-before-dishonor Shepard was forced to spend the best game of the series working with a terrorist organization run by an obvious James Bond villain...after being served up with a dialogue about control chips specifically to assure me that Shepard had complete free will.  And I apparently LOVE the Trilogy.  The playthough I just finished was #21.  I don't even want to think about how many times I've run the suicide mission.

After the trial I have no serious expectation that Andromeda will be a personal favorite like Morrowind or ME2.  But it was still some of the best fun I had at my PC since encountering Marauder Shields.  I felt no urge to rush to my browser and cancel my pre-order.  Instead, I look forward to importing my default Sara into the full game and seeing what happens next. And I suspect I'll be shouting

(admittedly, in mockery of the scene) a half-dozen times or so over the next couple years.
