That you've not had in any previous game, what or who would it be?

I'd love a hanar or elcor squad mate, Shiala or Gianna Parasini would have been cool too, but I'm going to go out and make an unusual choice.

Leviathan

We see that the Leviathan have those control orbs, I would have loved to have had a Leviathan taking control of a Marauder to fight alongside you, to watch and make sure that the alliance is still worth being a part of. And the addition of the turian husk causing issues on the Normandy as a result, but also giving us the chance to learn even more about the Leviathan's as a species.

A silly idea perhaps, but I think it would have been interesting. What would everyone else go for?

Not really, that would be far too daft.

I would've liked to have Okeer over Grunt because he seemed way more interesting and he would have a lot more to say, especially in 3.

I agree with Darth Dennis: I would like to have had Okeer instead of Grunt.

Also, a replacement for Ashley/Kaiden in ME3.

A Batarian squadmate would have been interesting, and could have actually worked in ME3.

(At one point before ME2 released, I wanted a Geth squadmate. We then got one in ME2 and I was disappointed at the result.)

I like the Vorcha (I love playing as Vorcha in ME3 MP), but a Vorcha squadmate would have sucked ass.

I think so, too, but in ME1. I would have loved to see how a batarian squadmate would have worked with colonist Shepard, particularly in the "I Remember Me" side quest. Or in BDtS.

+1 for a batarian. Charn might be an option for an ME3 squadmate if Shepard didn't kill him in ME1.

Might have been nice to recruit Kirrahe in ME3 if he is still alive. He could be optional, with a possible consequence: if recruited, and if Thane is not present, there'd be no-one to save the salarian councillor during the coup.

It would be quite awesome if we could've had guest squadmates for at least some missions (as a choice, not mandatory though). I would pick Kirrahe, Kal'Reegar, Lieutenant Victus, Bailey.
Parasini would've been awesome for some kind of undercover mission where we have to infiltrate something and we keep contact with her. A little like Kasumi's LM. Of course ending with a beer

Yeah, its a shame there weren't little side missions where we could team up with various old friends. I'd have loved to have briefly teamed up with Kirrahe on Sur'kesh, or Gianna Parasini in some mission on the Wards.

People's ideas for Batarian squadmates are good, it does surprise me that they never had a batarian, considering the antagonistic attitudes between humans and batarians it would have provided some excellent insight into their mindset and culture. Volus would be cool too, something completely different in combat style.

I'd have loved to have taken robo-dog out on missions in ME3 too : >

A batarian companion for colonist Shep would have been hilarious. My colonist Shep had an "only good batarian is a dead batarian" attitude. Would have to be real good reason for him to keep one around let alone as a squadmate.

Other than that I would have love to have Kai Leng as squadmate (and LI) in ME2. Would've made everything that happened in ME3 that much more personal. :devil:

In Mass Effect 1: Kirrahe. He's already on the ship, and he could replace the character you lost.

In Mass Effect 2: No one. That game has enough characters as is.

In Mass Effect 3: Kirrahe again. He could join in Sur'Kesh. I actually wrote a fanscript about it. My brother posted in on Reddit some time ago. Otherwise, some sort of biotic, since you're only guaranteed to have the annoying Liara.

He ends up going back to the Normandy after Ashley joins the squad. After Eden Prime, he is reassigned to another unit

In ME3, he is seen just before Shepard sees the council. He explains that he's providing security for the council. He ends up being the guy Shepard faces during the coup. Ashley/Kaidan are not injured on Mars. They stay on the Normandy instead of being in the hospital

That could have been neat, having Kai Leng as a teammate back in ME2, where you are either going to butt heads or have a grudging respect for one another. It could have been a good chance to see why he hated aliens beyond "just because" like did something happen where a Council race member placed him in an exploited situation where he and fellow humans paid the price for their ambition? It would have made the situation of facing him as an enemy more complicated, where despite getting to know someone, you can't always win them over to your side and easing the "Cult of Shepard" feel to it.
