Melee seems so one dimensional now and doesn't track very well either - especially if having used a power that knocks down/ragdolls like biotics or things like cryo beam.
ME3MP had way better melee - even just the three chain basic light melee hit using a weapon added variety and helped to make your gameplay stylish. Nevermind things like drell kicks and punch, krogan backhand and over cover grab (fist through skull), n7 shadow sword chain and decapitation, and so on.
I know grabs led to fbwgg bull****, but on the other hand they made sprinting into enemy groups much more satisfying and added a lot to the flow of running around executing things in melee range - you could run at a group slide into cover to grab kill, vault over cover, dodge around and melee kill another, etc...
Only consolation is powers are much more enjoyable in MEAMP.
EDIT: for anyone else reading this for whom it is not already clear enough regarding grabs: 1. Do not lump me in with camping grab cheese such as fbwgg (can't believe the need to justify this). 2. Appreciate how grabs add variety and augment the flow of working through a group of enemies in a room when playing OFFENSIVELY/aggressively (ie NOT sitting behind a counter for the entire wave...).

Melee in MEAMP is simply speaking, awful.
And it certainly didn't need to be.
It should have received the same love that everything else did, and the reason it didn't is people in SP never used it.

All the weight and force behind the melees are kinda gone now... It's just light and floaty where even the krogan headbutt seems like a shadow of its former self.
I guess they added the whole ground pound thing but it feels very difficult to control (which might improve over time) with a very tight radius

Yeah because pulling an entire faction over a counter was truly the gold age of coop multiplayer...
I don't miss heavy melee at all really. Headbutts are still fun and it feels like its as powerful as it should be.

Everything about MEAMP feels like its the predecessor to ME3MP, and not the other way around.
Its so soft. There really isn't any feeling of impact to basically anything you do, and the sounds are so vanilla.
Its such a contrast to to ME3MP where the game was visceral and things had a weight and variety to it.

Headbutts are still fun and it feels like its as powerful as it should be. Like I said in the OP - a very sad side effect of grabs. I hate that BS so please do not think I am one of those players who will sit behind a counter doing grab after grab... that's nonsense. Grabs added flavour to fast paced melee gameplay, made it possible to do stylish traversal of enemy groups with a variety of attacks. Taking N7 shadow as an example and a random scenario off the top of my head (in practice it looks better than it is to type) -> SS into group -> forward dodge roll into heavy melee double decapitate -> side dodge towards cover, cartwheel over cover to slide into adjacent cover and grab kill another target -> vault over and light melee kill last target -> cloak, SS out to next group. That's just a tiny section of variety and finesse possible in me3mp which doesn't seem to be here in meamp. In MEA that would be run up to first target -> melee -> run to second target -> melee -> move to third target -> melee, etc... no style or variety aside from the jetpack aerial melee smash MEA seems to be all about jumping all over the place - doesn't seem to be any finesse to combat. Biggest improvement is powers are much more fun. If melee isn't going to be improved in both variety and effect in future patches I'm likely just going to go primarily full casters in MEA. Then go back and play melee characters in ME3MP.

Has anyone got an actual melee weapon in a pack yet to see if it is better? Now this would be cool if we could modify our melee attacks with gear in MP, not only in SP. Would like to know this as well.

I'm pretty disappointed about the over cover grabs,otherwise I'm good with the current melee's. Yes, works for me. Asarigasm is gone though and it makes me very sad. It was one of the better parts of ME3. I hope that they patch it in later.

Now this would be cool if we could modify our melee attacks with gear in MP, not only in SP. Would like to know this as well. Yes, you can, I got some melee booster attachment for shotguns, looks like small bayonet. It is not a consumable, it is a weapon mod.

I personally feel that BioWare needs to make melee weapons an equipable option in the multiplayer; it makes no sense that such an option exists for SP but didn't make the transition to MP. In the campaign you can have Ryder as a vanguard wielding a krogan warhammer, but in MP your Kroguard is limited to headbutts.

Yeah something definitely feels off. It feels like melee animations and sound effects dont have that punch that they had in ME3. Krogan especially comes to mind. Not much can top the epic feeling of sending an enemy away with a Krogan backhand or a solid Headbutt. It just doesn't have that same punch in ME: Andromeda. In a way, I do also miss cover grabs, but I heavily despised its abuse on Firebase White. I do like how Gears of War 3 had the Vault/Mantle Kick where you would leap over cover and kick the enemy in the face, staggering them for a moment. Something like that would be fun and useful. Check it out:

Check it out: Oh hell yes - that vault over cover into a kick is super sexy. Adding something like that to MEA would certainly breathe more life into melee combat.

I miss the melee madness a Krogan Sentinel Warlord was able to deliver in ME3 MP: headbutt, sprinting melee tackle, triple melee home run combo, heavy melee hammer (with explosions). Haven't seen every new ME:A character & weapon yet and the Warlord also came in very late in ME3 MP so still got my hopes up. Jump-Melee is awesome ... imagine a Warlord Sentinel coming down with a Biotic Hammer from the sky like that! Krogans new design in ME:A MP kinda disappointed me, have yet to unlock some Krogans I wonder if they're gonna be any better ...
