When we start a custom game and set it to public, no one ever joins no matter the host. Our only hope is to go into quick match and hope someone leaves. Is there something that I'm missing?

You may be in a location where there's very few people playing.
At this point in time, likely most people interested with Origin Access/EA Access in the game will have spent their 10 hours worth of playtime, so I would expect a Sharp drop in available activity up untill release.

Creating a custom game and inviting your friend in is the way to do it, you've just gotta wait for it to fill up. The first night myself and a friend played (Thursday) we had this problem, but both Friday and Saturday the lobbies filled up quick enough. It's an issue that probably will not be an issue when the game is out as the player pool is significantly larger. Although it would be nice if you could actually join a lobby as a group rather than just create one... |

My guess would be the 10 hour trial is running out for most, myself included Mine ran out the first day.... I lost about 7 hours after the first day of playing.I talked with someone from EA help and they reset my timer and I ended up with 13 hours to play  |
