Apex Rating and Leaderboards

Bioware has made it very clear that they do not care if you grind, or if you pay - you will get the same result.

Besides, it will even up over time - right now you are seeing only ten hours worth of playtime, and relative low spends from people with more money than time.

Look at it in a month, we'll see how it looks then.

In what way does it actually affect your apex rating? Never took the time to consider how it was calculated. But I was #11 on day 2 just from playing the 10 hours at a casual pace and opening basic packs after every game. Spent my last few hours pugging to see how stable things were, and saw a few people switching between ultra rare characters and using much more interesting weapons than my Avenger X and Charger whatever. Assuming they spent money, but none of them had half my apex rating.

Still, if anyone feels like paying their way to the top, they're quite welcome. I'll just thank them for supporting the game in ways I won't.

Doesn't matter to me what people decide to spend their disposable income on. Frankly, I'm happy to thank them since it increases the likelihood of Bio being able to keep the free to play model in place for those of us unwilling to spend real world cash in MP.

I dont recall it being just a number when you were sat on top of the DAIMP leaderboards

I wish I could turn mine off. Mine was inflated by buying packs. Now I drop into lobbies with an Apex around 1500, while everyone else is under 1000, but they have higher level characters. I don't want people expecting me to be the clutch guy.

That Ranking system was less relevant since it was not shown in lobby. It was not like a label you are forced to wear in front of other people. Nevertheless, it rewarded time spent in game, which is stupid, but better than money spent in game, which is pretty much the way MEAMP system has shown to work so far. Besides that, people who have played the Trial seem to have quite a boost over other players.

Biower added the Challenge Points in at a later stage for ME3. Seems fitting that history has a good chance of repeating itself, but would have been better if they had have just added it in the beginning, of course.

My Apex rating went down about 700 points today. Anyone else have that happen to them?
