This thread is for sharing tips and advice so others can enjoy Andromeda to the fullest. Maybe you've found a good solution to problems people commonly have; share it here. NO SPOILERS and please no shitposting like "Buy HZD instead." There is some validity to the feeling that MEA is "DAI in space." Like the endless Hinterlands, completionists can get bogged down by feeling they HAVE to do things they don't particularly enjoy in order to get the "best/perfect outcome." I felt overwhelmed by the scanning and the crafting menus. But since the trial time was limited, I took the step of saying "screw it" to all the things that were making me feel tired and it increased my enjoyment immensely. So, first, give up on the idea of a completionist playthrough. There is SO MUCH of everything it can't all be done, period. Trying will just make you exhausted. So only do the things you actually enjoy. It's easy to start scanning everything all the time and get burnt out but you really don't have to do that. Scanning gets research points which is used to research blueprints and collecting rocks is used to gather resources to craft the things you made blueprints for. Guess what, you can find or buy blueprints, raw materials and weapons, so only do the scanning and crafting if you like it! Compensating for janky animations BEFORE you start: - Some of the mouth animations make the upper lip climb too near the nose, so once you have a face you like, move the mouth down a little bit (may have to move the chin with it). - Dead doll eyes are most noticeable with light and vivid eye colors that really contrast with the pupil. Make your character's irises dark and it will reduce this effect. - The CC slightly underestimates how saturated your makeup will be in game, so take it down one notch from where you like it in the CC. People have complained that the squaddies die too much. I specced Liam without Havoc Strike and he never died on Normal. I did give Cora Biotic Charge so she could detonate my Singularities though. She died a couple of times in 8 hours on Normal. Helmet visibility choices are under the options tab. Settings -> Gameplay -> Ryder's Helmet / Squadmate's Helmet. You must scroll all the way down to the bottom. Options: On, Off, Off in Conversation, As Equipped. Tips I haven't tried personally so can't confirm: You can get your squaddies to detonate primed enemies by priming and then commanding the relevant squadmate to attack that enemy. To get color changes for casual outfits/armor to stick, you must confirm after each piece separately. This has been variously reported as SPACE or ESC. There is a fix for "I have to press 3 buttons to get out of map" that I've seen around but I need to find it. IIRC it was TAB? In Multiplayer, choosing the Male Human Soldier causes the host to freeze, leading to sequential host drops. Use the female soldier instead. Also: bsn.boards.net/post/426132/thread

Thats a nice Idea actually !
I couldn't find the helmet visibilty options, in which sub menu did you go exactly ?
As for characters dying, Liam surely dies a lot on last difficulty, and trying to go and rescue him is pretty much suicidal. Will swap him for a more supportive/distance squadmate in terms anyway, more suited to high difficulty I think.

You can kill things by running over them with the nomad Some critters you will have to run over a few times for them to actually die. They're sturdy little shits.

Totally ran over ketts, they totally didn't die . The disappointment was real. Hazard 3 is no joke people, don't start driving in that thinking I got this lol. If you see a big cave but no map sign , it's still worth checking. Remnant flying machine and hiding behind small cover is not a great strategy.Who knew. Also their beam of death hurts. If there's a big beast and some building...get into the building. Life is not fair to beings equipped with a massive fat rear, but it is to your advantage.

Every squadmate has a defensive passive and investing in even only a few ranks can make a difference.
Also, when you get to "that fight" on the second planet (you'll know it when it happens), drive away in the Nomad and re-engage in a position where your back is to open space and where you can easily drive off again if you need to.

I can second the Liam advice. The Havoc ability is suicide for him. Without it, he does just fine shooting and chucking grenades from a distance. He never died once in my 10 hours.

Unless this ability is tied to difficulty level, it does work, and is oh so satisfying.

It certainly sends them flying if they are out in the open.

Me no likey Nomad.

I'm hoping if enough people complain they will patch in better controls.

I was a lousy Mako driver and I'll probably be a lousy Nomad driver. Wish we could have a designated driver that's not me.

Try to pick a power that primes enemies if you can. Or, a melee weapon that can inflict the appropriate status. There are a LOT of detonating powers in Andromeda, as well as teammates with detonating powers. Abuse the hell out of them.

All I could think was that everybody was barfing because of my driving. In my case barfing and concussion - my mako spent a lot of time on its roof. Tip = explore Habitat7 well. there is a little cave that (for me) always has a chest with a remnant decryption key - which I think can be used on a monolith thing if you can't figure out the code. I think its the one with a little robot that zooms away when you enter.

Any tips on how the Nomad mining computer actually works? There is *no* tutorial for the thing, other than "Pathfinder, you can deploy probes". Do I need go for a smoke while the Nomad mines for me? Can I drive off, but have to return to the probe again to collect? Or is it just beamed to the Tempest through space magic once deployed?

Through the power of google, I have my answer. You can deploy your probes and bugger off, space magic take over.

I can confirm that if you're in the map, you can toggle out of it with TAB instead of having to hit ESC a few times.
