Im not talking about character xp leveling im talking about the II and IV and VI so on... you get from crates? Same with the weapons, what is this? how does this work? How do I get a character and gun to the highest level if i can only leevel up through xp, do I have to unlock it through a crate?

Gives better stats in the case of weapons, and more free character points in the case of characters. So yes, have to grind those crates

Good question. Would like to know more about this too. My 10 hours went by sooo fast. From what I recall, you receive weapons and character XP while playing, but can also receive level ups for weps and characters in crates too (in addition to your earned XP). Anyhow, sure someone who has more information will share.
I will ask though, is it best to focus on buying basic crates for now? Seems like the right thing to do, similar to ME3MP. Buy entry level crates for a while to get the common weps unlocked and leveled up fairly quickly (as well as character level ups and unlocks). I was watching some MEAMP on Twitch yesterday, and saw a player who had saved 100K creds and bought a premium pack. They got the Falcon II which is a decent weapon, but the rest of the pack was basic crate items.

Every weapon Card upgrades the weapon, every character Card gives you more character points, and options for the colouring of said character. The common wise applies here as far as I can see it - buy the common boxes for the first good bit, there's plenty of decent weapons that are common or uncommon.

It's not complicated. Basically getting your weapon and character from levels I-X give them slightly improved stats overall. Characters also get extra skill points and visual options. And yes, you can only get them through crates. The rarity goes: common, uncommon, rare, ultra rare, with them being harder to get the more rare they are.

Once you reach Rank X of a given Card, that Card will no longer drop yes. You'll still see boosters though.

What's the exact difference in power level between a Level I and a Level X item/weapon/character?

I meant numbers wise. Like, 10% better? 100% better? Somewhere in between?

I meant numbers wise. Like, 10% better? 100% better? Somewhere in between? The spread is higher than the nominal 10% that ME3 had.

Weapon mods go up to X now.
Can't wait to get a Smart Choke X so I can turn my shotguns into snipers.

I meant numbers wise. Like, 10% better? 100% better? Somewhere in between? That depends on each gun. That's the beaty of it.

What's the exact difference in power level between a Level I and a Level X item/weapon/character? stats/stats/skillpoints More accurately: the things that improve are weight, max spare ammo, clip size for single clip weapons, damage. Things that might improve are rate of fire, accuracy and clipsize. They didn't in me3 but it could be new. As for char cards they don't give xp, just customization options.
