I had a good think about it the other day and tbh the only real romance option I've ever really gone for in a Mass Effect game was the one with Miranda so I'm no stranger to feeling like the romance options don't do it for me. Cora and 'the alien romances' aren't my cup of tea so I can take it or leave it but wondering if I'm going to be spending half the dialogue options laughing my tits off at the character animations and acting is another thing entirely. Still think I'll get enjoyment out of the game but it's the franchise as a whole I worry about.

That's actually an improvement what you describe. I prefer fans that worry more about technical issues and overall quality than romance options. What I'm saying is that the overall quality of Bioware games years ago was so good, that romance was the worst fans had to worry about. I don't think that's true. Every single Bioware game that has ever come out has had the crowd going, "Remember when this company didn't suck?"
ME1 had clunky combat and hilariously incompetent AI, DA2 had button mashing spinny repetition and almost everyone in the crown looked like the same unfinished mannequin.
...There has always been technical issues.

When I bought Mass Effect 3, the guy told me "you'll either love it or hate it." I think Andromeda will be the same.

BioWare should have had an official 'Bug Creation Department' On-topic, nothing I've seen that would justify bad reviews, but we'll know tomorrow. Haha. That never gets old. Now I must play TW3.

The reason I don't care anymore is because Bioware started making ugly character romance options. The only one I am thinking about romancing is Suvi because of her accent. Maybe if you play the game on mute you might actually enjoy it. WTH did I just watch? I always thought the Tali romance was too awkward and teenie to tolerate. This is unreal. This is not an option I'd have ever used, anyway, it just makes me worry about the tone of the rest of the game. I guess I'll experience everything firsthand, soon enough.

It's funny to think how years ago the biggest thing fans would lose sleep over, was whether or not they have enough romance choices, Do you mean "days" ago? Seriously, one of my main concerns at this point is the dialogue. From what I've seen, there is an abundance of cheesy dialogue.

I think a lot of people here are kinda missing the point of this thread. I'm trying to say things seemed more simple then because we didn't have issues with Bioware games on the same level of magnitude as we do now. I know we had issues, I know. You don't have bring it up. But it wasn't quite like this.

I have to disagree bioware was never that good with animations or CC. For example I remember back in the day, that people complained that the characters in DA:O looked like they were taking a dump when walking in combat. There were major framerate issues in some areas too when the game got out. The CC had horrible anatomy and hair, across the races and let us not forgot how they translate their art to game. So no there was a lot of complaining for the same reasons.

OMG, I CAN'T PLAY THIS GAME ANYMORE. YOU KNOW BECAUSE WHEN I BUY A GAME, I'M SPENTING ALL MY MONEY TO PLAY FACIAL ANIMATIONS AND NOT THE GAME ITSELF... It annoys me greatly that when I shoot people in the crotch with a shotgun they don't have the correct facial animation for that incident. It totally breaks my immersion.

Romance still the most concern to me. I can live with current animation/CC and I always trust when to Main Story (3 colour in ME3 not bother me that much).

What I'm saying is that the overall quality of Bioware games years ago was so good, that romance was the worst fans had to worry about. yeah, because facial animations in Baldur's gate 2 blew us all out of the water. The way I see it, most of the "concerns" being the nitpicks about facial animations or that you can't push sliders for 3 hours when creating a character, and length of Cora's hair are the best advertisement for BiOWARE's games. Because the "concern" being: "I can create this totally gorgeous character, it's just I can't create it in exactly the way I did it in DA:I and its skin is two shades darker than I want" is by far better thing in my books than a: "So, if I play a female, will I be able to have more than one romance to chose from? Can I romance a male alien if I play a female?"

"I can create this totally gorgeous character, it's just I can't create it in exactly the way I did it in DA:I and its skin is two shades darker than I want" Can you point to custom made BroRyders you find gorgeous? Honest question. I couldn't make a male Ryder that didn't look weird to me, and haven't seen any examples of good looking creations by others. I've seen some nice, Asian looking FemRyders, but the other tweaked defaults i've seen all looked bad (unnatural) to me.

One looked like Dorian, another like commander Ryker. This guy below looks great at least in CC, I can't see him in the game as the poster did not share the in-game look that ages him... All and all, I am still divided between male and female Ryder, despite finally having my ultimate wish-fulfillment Asian characters available. There are a few mixed bloods and Caucasians so gorgeous there that make me question my wish-fulfillment Asian ideal, and I was waiting for it since JE! Here is Adrian Ryder (excuse the cell phone pictures). I challenged myself to make a guy character that looked good with the Queen Amidala-esque lipstick. He appears fine in the CC, but in-game he looks twenty years older. He goes from looking like Adam Driver to Fred Armisen. More age-appropriate complexions and presets, please!

While the Ryder you linked isn't a look I could be happy with (I like bearded or at least nicely stubbled characters), I can appreciate that it's a convincingly natural look (except perhaps for the eyes. The eyes are all bad in this game). Could you point me to the thread you were referring to? A quick search brought me to a dead-end.

Hey, glad you like my Ryder. The second picture actually is in-game, not CC (you can see the dialogue wheel in the corner). This picture is more flattering that others-- in certain lighting, and sometimes depending on the facial animation, his complexion just gets all wrinkly. All of the male presets seem to have crow's feet for some reason.

I prefer textured faces tbh, for me the biggest problem with playing females always was that there was not enough attractive ageless texturing. They either looked like dolls or like crones. I still can't decide which Ryder I want, the feedback on both that I see is excellent.
