Will "Mass Effect Andromeda: Nexus Uprising" be essential reading for the game?

I pre-ordered it and hope to have it delivered in the next day or two - if lucky, maybe before I start playing.

Mostly, I'm hoping it might fill any story gaps in the game, either things I miss while playing or don't understand.

The book is also a possible defense like the story gap between ME 2 and ME 3 I encountered, since I never got the Arrival DLC or saw the Vegas Comic book. Later, once I got Arrival and replayed the series, it made a lot more sense.
