I noticed that melee does A LOT more damage than in ME3, and im wondering if anyone tested the viability of them. With the human vanguard, you can get like 100% melee damage with shield restore on each hit.

I am working on it, but only lvl 8 kroguard yet. I did get a melee blade attachment for shotguns. I feel it's getting there. Also the heavy melee was removed, but I do consider melee slamming from the sky to be the new one. And it is awesome.

The melee builds we came up with in ME3 were all about success on Gold with cyclonics and omniblades and milking multiplicative bonuses. I'm sure it's going to be easy to have melee builds on Bronze and Silver without much effort. But I'm easily months away from having the gear and instincts to figure that stuff out on Gold.
Hi all, was Shampoohorn on the old boards. Figured I'd match my origin ID here.

I think I sported a Grunt avatar originally. But yeah that "mounted krogan" was with me for a long while.
I've been playing a bit more with the melee attacks and I think the combination of jumps, hovers, and dodges will make for some pretty awesome tactics.
On the other hand, I'm a bit sad that Bioware is keeping the 'fitness vs melee' axis alive. Aside from Shepherd for whom melee was just a curiosity, a 'fitness vs power' and a 'weapons vs fists' set of skill choices would have been more sensible. And I may never have the ultimate melee krogan that we all deserve.

And I may never have the ultimate melee krogan that we all deserve. Just scanning the fitness trees (didn't want to burn a bunch of trial time pooring over things), they at least have made things a bit more interesting this time. Most classes seem to have a few unique options in them. I'm particularly excited about the Human Vanguards having the ability to recharge their barriers (20 percent) through melee attacks and an auto-barrier recharge when at low health. It makes that shield burning evolution on Nova look pretty attractive to have 2 different ways to recharge barriers. I noticed some other trees have stuff like weapon stability/accuracy and some other new evolutions in them. I think overall the Fitness tree will take more thought now than it did in ME3. As for melee in general, it's by far been my bread and butter since I still have junk equipment. The only way I was able to pull off a silver at all was thanks to Kroguard headbutts.

I seriously want to do a Kineticist AoE pull into aerial melee build, but it's going to be a late game thing once all the gear is unlocked and levelled up.
