Post anything MMA related in this thread. Tomorrow's Event, I have Diaz actually taking this. I really do not know the strategy Connor is going to go with but Diaz resilience to taking a punch gives him a lot of an advantage.

McGregor would be well advised to kick often. In Diaz's last three losses, his opponents worked his legs over with hard kicks.
That said, I've still got Diaz by submission. Kicking puts McGregor at risk of being taken down and Diaz's boxing is more rounded.

Having said that, it's REALLY hard to choose. Conor's main problem was his cardio in the first fight. I'm rooting for Nate, cause I've been a fan of Nick since I first saw him fight in 2004/5. Haven't kept up with much of the rest of the card though but I'll likely still order it or watch it at a bar.

I'm gonna go with Mcgregor because until he got gassed in the last round and got rocked a bit, he was lighting Nate's face up the other round and through a lot of round 2. Nate is not bad at all but his best highlight is that he's got a granite jaw and I think this time Connor would've planned and trained for that appropriately.
Anyways it's an interesting match up and hopefully the fight is gonna be even better than the hype!

Wait, CM Punk is a UFC fighter now?
The previous fight is one of the reasons I can't get into UFC. The concept of zero defense against "striking", and top guys getting KO'd in seconds is something I can't get my head around.

Fuck!!! Wanted Nate to get that. Connor played a striking game and didn't want to go to the ground. Good strategy, I wonder who gets it on the trilogy

McGregor went to leg kicks which was smart given how Diaz has proven susceptible to them in the past and managed to keep things on the feet. I'm still waiting on him to fight a wrestler with more than a week's notice though. The previous fight is one of the reasons I can't get into UFC. The concept of zero defense against "striking", and top guys getting KO'd in seconds is something I can't get my head around. As a boxing fan, I can understand the sentiment but at the same time, the mere threat of a takedown, or kick, is enough to render a number of defensive techniques risky. A number of pro kickboxers, Mirko Cro Cop and Mark Hunt among them, who tried their hand at MMA got KO'd by lesser strikers who hit them off of an overreaction to a faked takedown.

Wooo I saw the Conor/ Nate fight a while back and I have to say, they're both the realest of motherfuckers! I thought the decision was fair because even though conor was rather gassed in the later rounds, he did score 3 knockdowns and had more number of significant strikes landed. It was a pretty close fight though and well worth the hype! Haven't gotten round to seeing the other fights of the night although I hear that it was great performances all round. Also I'm found this gif of Cowboy's fight against Rick Story and it's just way too awesome to not post this here! Damn that was perfectly executed! Also on a side note, I've heard him talk on the Joe Rogan podcast before and it was pretty entertaining as well.

I used to be into UFC.
Then Stephan Bonnar and Forrest Griffin fought and the sport peaked. Now it's like why bother?
Like Jeremiah said, I don't know who's who anymore.
Well except Rhonda Rousay but she's so damn hot I can't help but know who she is.

Frankly, McGregor deserves credit for fighting to the bell above his weight class, especially against a recognized top-tier fighter in that class.

The previous fight is one of the reasons I can't get into UFC. The concept of zero defense against "striking", and top guys getting KO'd in seconds is something I can't get my head around. I've found that a big part of understanding and appreciating combat sports is the ability to follow the visual "language" that you're seeing. For some people, boxing can seem like a very repetitive process, lasting 10 (or more) rounds. But if someone is familiar with the visual "language" of punching and defense, the complexities of how the fight is playing out sticks out in clearer relief. There are peaks and valleys and dramas that will be noticeable for knowledgeable fans that would go unnoticed by the average viewer. It is similar in MMA, but more complex. Particularly when it comes to the grappling side of the sport. In the early days, wrestling was largely disdained because it was less exciting than the big knockouts produced by the striking. As time went by, the audience began to understand the visual language of the clinching and wrestling games, and over time, began to appreciate those elements of the sport much more. To someone unfamiliar, it can look like a very slow, repetitive back-and-forth (similarly to how those unfamiliar with the intricacies of boxing offense and defense could come away with that impression.) When you follow the small cues of where advantage and opportunity lie when it comes to grappling/submission, those fights will produce many more exciting moments than if it just looks like a couple of people rolling around randomly. Probably one of the best examples of high-level grappling/submission I've ever seen was the fight between Angela Lee and Mei Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi had never been finished, and Lee had never been defeated (she's only 19, though.) This is one version of it.Also, MMA was partially invented by Bruce Lee. Fuckin' Bruce Lee!

He's got an incredible career as an actor ahead of him, if this is any indication. ...I don't think I could bring myself to watch that, even if it does include one of my favorite B-movie actors - Daniel Bernhardt, AKA Jean Claude Gosh Darn.
