I take it you console guys can't switch profiles without pausing? Correct. It's much like the old tactical pause wheel from the original trilogy, if you've ever seen it. (Not sure that it was ever a thing on PC.) We don't go into the game menu. There is an overlaid that pops up over the screen. It contains weapons, consumables and a push button to pull up Favorites. It's not too bad, but it probably could've been better implemented.

Does anyone know.... If you clear the Flophouse you get a datapad with the keycode to the door where the drive core is hidden. If you go there before visiting the remnant ship to learn the drive core is missing, is it still in the cave or does it only spawn once you're on the hunt for it?

Also, this makes the Drive core quest one of the most fun quests in the game for me. It takes you just about everywhere on elaaden and has a very good pacing.

A couple of things in the tutorial:
If you hesitate about helping Fisher, Fisher will say that he thought he was dead and Liam will tell Ryder that he had to jump in. He will say this regardless of whether or not you've hesitated long enough to get Liam's line of "Screw it, I'm going hot and launches a frag grenade." If Ryder starts shooting a little quicker, Fisher will instead thank him for jumping in. I'm going back to do that section over again to see what happens if Ryder just doesn't move forward at all... i.e. Can Fisher be killed? (answer = no)
These changes, combined with the combat performance-related changes in Drack's dialogue when you fight with him in Fairwinds Basin make me wonder how many other places in the game have dialogue changes keyed to the players combat performance, speed, or behavior.
-----
Later, if you discover the place where you meet up with dad before getting to Cora, you can either decide to turn back and try to enter the base through the doors or jump down from the ledge... and this has a big effect on what happens:
1) If you turn back and try to enter through the doors, an alarm sounds and a whole patrol of kett come out the doors resulting in you and Liam having to fight them.
2) If you jump down from the ledge, and head right towards the first bit of cover, Liam starts to encourage you to leave quietly. You can then exit through those doors by activating them (station to the right of doors) and walk out... not kett spawn and no fight.
If you fought the kett, Liam will say "That's more than we took out." This line will be skipped if you did not fight them. Also, when you do later return to the area to find dad, Ryder will mention: "Wierd, we were here earlier."

I think this line comes up regardless, since even if you don't try to go through the door, there are kett to fight there on the way in or the way back (before meeting up with Cora's team).

You have to get close enough to those doors to trigger the patrol coming out of them to fight them. What I'm saying is that if you go to Alec's ledge first before rescuing Cora & co. and jump down into the area, you will have to leave that area via those doors... and no kett will spawn. For Liam to say the line, you have to have fought the kett. He won't say that line if you came out via those doors and no kett spawned.

Just to confirm....did you find the keycard where Ryder mentions that maybe now they can get in? And it still doesn't open?

No actually I forgot about that, where is it? I thought you got that during the Remnant Derelict mission which I haven't done but just about to.

There is one somewhere in the Flophouse...it has the same message on it as the one you find when hunting for the core. I've usually already found it and located the core before doing the Flophouse though, so I'm wondering if the second one with the password on it will let you in or not, before you know anything about the drive core.

If there is one in the flophouse I am confident I picked it up as I am pretty thorough and go back through it after clearing the scavengers. I went straight to the door afterwards and it was locked and couldn't be accessed.

There's Heleus Flora (mushrooms) growing in one of the open areas of Hydroponics on the Nexus (just behind the glass case with the mushrooms in it. You can scan it if you get up close. The description says it contains agents that could be used to enhance medi-gel's pain-reducing capabilities. Playthrough 5 and this is the first time I noticed it.

Learning lots of new stuff this time around. I'm doing a playthrough on insanity starting with a PC at Level 0... and I'm playing offline so no strike teams this time around either. I'm going to need all those research points, so I'm really making an effort to scan stuff. The additional codex entries and information are a real bonus.

Wow @upupaway95 that's impressive, good luck!!!!! I am doing my first insanity run at the moment but as an NG+ game and whilst there have s few "hard" encounters it honestly doesn't feel much more difficult than hardcore, especially after some great tips from Element Zero on gear and gun builds including using the Fusion Mod of Adrenaline which I believe you posted a video about. I had never found it before so thanks I am using a Valkyrie AR with the Autofire Augmentation and three Kinetic Coils and it is the most destructive weapon I have used, its only issue is it has a small clip. Good luck on your new PT.

There is a building you go to where a guy is hiding in an upstairs room, if you scan the room you'll find bottles/containers of some home made alcohol, the ingredients are "interesting" and SAM's response to Ryder's query is funny. Have you found that? I think I have posted it earlier in this thread.

I had never found it before so thanks I am using a Valkyrie AR with the Autofire Augmentation and three Kinetic Coils and it is the most destructive weapon I have used, its only issue is it has a small clip. Good luck on your new PT. I've done 1 and 1/2 playthroughs on insanity NG+, each importing around Level 85 (so already at Level 10 gear). I respec'd and crafted the gear I wanted to use before making a save that I want to import so that started me pretty much OP both times. My 1/2 finished one is my female (imported from a male - nice that it allows you to change gender on a import)... and I'm always slower roleplaying females than males (just not very confident doing it). Right now she's at Level 111 on Eladaan, so I'll check for a alcohol with her when I get to that part of Eladaan. I am finding the Level 0 forward insanity playthrough to be much more challenging combat-wise. The second monolith on Eos was just a brutal fight that took me at least 7 tries before I got past it. The observers just rip through shields and the squad just dies right off the bat. I finally backed off and did some "bug-clearing" to sell the guts to buy a cobra rpg and got by the fight that way. I expect it will get easier after I get some of the basic skills leveled a bit and a bit of combat fitness (i.e. health) to work with. Still, it's going to be much more interesting because the squad won't have their Rank 6 tricks until I get through their LMs. Also, I'm playing as an Operative and the Viper I just takes too long to reload to get through that particular fight. I've been watching one guy doing an Level 0 on insanity as a Vanguard. He also mentioned that fight as being a real tough one, but I do think the Vanguard (with charge) has it much easier overall.

This is the first ME game I have cared about combat and so in the past have just never bothered with doing anything other than play on normal. Before I played MEA I played The Division whichwas also a third person cover based shooter with a bit of RPG thrown in. It was designed to plat co-op and I played it solo all the way through and that was the most brutal combat I have done and I just wasn't used to dying all the time so there was a bit of raging and it wasn't good for the BP But I learnt a lot about armor and weapon builds so it carried over nicely to MEA. Hearing of your starting a Level 0 insanity run intrigues me almost to try it but I just don't think I want to put myself through it. Some of the battles are challenging enough even on NG+ and armed with Cobras, so I think 'll just enjoy the "mild" adrenaline rush of NG+ Insanity but I am intrigued!!!! There is an achievement for reviving squad mates 20 times or something, until hardcore play through (number 8) I'd played on normal or casual to start with and had a total of 2 squad mates die in that time. On hardcore I think they died maybe 3 or 4 times but on Insanity they have died at least 10 so there is enough of a difference for me Yeah I have heard the Biotic/Vanguard path is easier using Charge and Nova in particular, its never really been my style in ME but I should probably give it a go. You may have seen elementzero and I talking he convinced me to try Turbocharge and Tactical Cloak, they may be a big help. TC lets you move round the field of battle to find ammo and better cover and to get out of sticky situations. It also lets you revive squad mates unmolested. Turbocharge is really helpful in taking down higher level characters faster, I pretty much took out a destroyer by myself with an assault rifle using turbocharge 3 or 4 times. Wow what a wall of text, sorry and good luck with the current PT

On my first NG+ insanity playthrough, I never had any issue until I encountered the progenitor in the asteroid vault. Man, that was such a difficult battle! I actually couldn't get past it after trying over a dozen times, and then thought to myself: "why am I stocking up on cobras if I neevr use them?"
So I just cobra'd the shit out of that mad bot. It took me like 10 or so cobras, wtf?
But anyway, first and only time I needed a cobra on insanity. There's something off-balance with that fight...
