Used a VPN to start the game early and have spent the past 2+ hours maddeningly trying to make a decent male and female ryder... I've given up on male, the presets are too mutant-like to work with.. and with female I find only 2 of the presets to be agreeable once heavily tweaked (well.. as "heavily" as these neutered CC controls will allow)... One day I'm hoping to make a half decent male ryder that doesn't make me want to run out of my room screaming in terror... but I am skeptical it is possible... would love to be proven wrong... any handsome male ryders out there? I haven't seen any good custom male Ryder either. The default one is also bad. All male presets are ugly (to my taste) and most of them look 40+.

I guess it's a matter of opinion but I think mine ended up looking pretty good. At least in cut scenes. There are also quite a few nice ones in this thread bsn.boards.net/thread/3876/share-ryders-good-looking-edition

I don't like any of them, they are very much not to my taste. I honestly have no desire to have your character in my game. I have seen many custom male Ryders and none is appealing. I'll be waiting for the CC patch and for mods, maybe there will be something for me.

The idea is that average-looking women like myself is suppose to relate better if the character we play look average. Or in my case I look ugly and I'm suppose to appreciate what they've done. Let me tell you something:
Look at my profile pic, yeah that's how I want to look. I don't play games to look average or ugly. I've recently started playing (modded) Fallout 4 and I love my curvy, sexy and cute char running around in a bikini (I just wish I had all the bounce like I have in Skyrim thanks to mods) shooting people with my minigun/missile launcher. It all gives me a chance to escape the average and ugly.

I'm very plain and ordinary in RL... and I'm ok with that, I don't feel bad that I'm not considered "beautiful" by society's standards, that I just blend in... but video games are about escapism from the frequent bland / dull reality of life and sometimes its nice to imagine or pretend you're different... that you can be a hero that wades into danger, explore worlds.. do things that are impossible in the real world... oh, and if I get to play as a somewhat attractive character in the process, then why not? I know what being plain is like, I live it... Maybe for 1 or 2 hours a day while playing a game I want to imagine I'm a badass gal with style. I don't need or want to live a fictional life as a plain woman.. I am one, I already know what that's like... let me live a little fantasy of being attractive while putting my boot to the face of dirty alien scum

As in RL I'm not what you'd call good looking far from it. So escapism is nice. I haven't looked at the male presets but I'm going to have a hard time coming up with something that looks good.

They are fugly. If I wanted to play as an ugly character then I'd play Oblivion again.

Like, why? I really don't get it. No one noticed that Oblivion had better looking female characters? The deliberate removal of attractive female characters...twitters influence no doubt.....They'll learn a lesson from all this. - ZipZap Bioware forums 2016 *Sips Ryncol*

The CC is definitely super limited to say the least, now that I'm actually going through it myself, but I found #5 reasonably workable to get an approximation of what I was envisioning with my concept toon.
