Half a year ago, maybe a year ago I cannot remember bioware spoke about their game and talked deeply about the galaxy map changes and improvements and the biggest things they mentioned were, how horrible planet scanning was and that it was slow and clunky.
And yet here we are, planet scanning is the same and not only that its SLOWER than it used to be, you need to and the animations to even get to the planet are annoying. Same old scan the anomaly click and back out, I wish i could find the old video as they mentioned that.
Im pretty disappointed, anyone remembers that as well?

I don't get why they have that animation every single time. It was cool the first two times but it got old FAST.

The animation is annoying but it still doesn't take as long to do planet scanning as it used to.

Agreed.. but I find myself more annoyed that they promised "meaningful side quests" akin to the Witcher 3 (witcher 3 side quests were all short contained stories that were genuinely interesting and many had truly terrific writing... not MMO fetch quest style nonsense). So far most of my side quests are barely better than the garbage sidequests from Inquisition... hoping they get better, but these side quest stories do not remotely compare in quality to the side quests of witcher 3, they're still just mmo style nonsense mostly.

I don't get why they have that animation every single time. It was cool the first two times but it got old FAST. It's a loading screen.. or rather it is masking a loading screen. Tested it on 2 different pcs with identical video cards but different CPU speeds and the slower cpu took almost 6 seconds longer to travel back and forth between the same planets. (both on 7500rpm HDDs)

Bioware said the reason they cut out the "getting into the Nomad" animation was because they found that it old after a while, and yet, they apparently didn't think this scanning animation got old at all

If one PC is struggling with it then it is purely the animation part. I personally hate it and I wonder how Bioware thought this was a good idea.

I wonder if the Devs have console codes they use to skip over this stuff? Or if they become immune to it while testing?
This looks like another (repair) job for those talented modders. (Thanks)

They were leaks, the info you talk about, and BioWare hadn't actually developed any of it to completion. I don't doubt they tried but hit a wall at some point and had to reinvent it.

Not really sure on why they designed it that way tbh. That might be my only main gripe with it

Its all about how you interpret what they said, not that they lied. For I can see those changes in the game, for there isn't a loading screen like in Mass Effect 2 and 3, its is more like the elevator screens from Mass Effect 1 which everyone keeps saying they want more of those.

The team presumably knew how much scanning was disliked, also knew it was considered too much of a time sink and not only did they decide to bring it back but made it more tedious than ever. I'm struggling to understand any of the decision making involved in that process.

We all speculated that its "getting old" could be an issue. Between the first-person view and repetitive animation in this particular case; the game's clunky UI; and the horrible game-saving system, there seem to have been all sorts of questionable decisions made.

If you want a little lie, this one is rather good.
Edmonton General Manager Aaryn Flynn told Eurogamer june 24 2016
“ People want to create their own characters, customize them, and we're embracing that.”
Result is actual CC I presume.
