Life lesson I learned after playing 10 hours of this game...

I agree, for unfortunately and understandably critics are human and get tired of things. Like some have mentioned critics have played Horizon Zero Dawn and Zelda: The Breath of the Wild so they are tired of games with open world feel and could have that negatively impact their process. Its why I read what they are saying and since I play on the PC can always try for myself as well.

I'm kind of confused at the moment. I know the game didn't get the scores some people were hoping for, however is 77 really that bad of a score? And many of the reviews say that the game is definitely worth a purchase, that it's fun, combat is good characters are good, etc. Just that some aspects could be better, both technical and writing and quest-wise. I still think it seems like they are saying it's a good game. Just not an AMAZING game. And the reviews are so all over the place. 9.5 from some professional reviewers, and 6 from others? Some say combat is great but characters are stiff, others say characters are great but combat is lacking.

I don't think that people really mind the 77 score. 

This is the issue:

Going by the scale reviewers use it is a perfectly good score and I think it is pretty close to what I would give the game.  In the eyes of some players it is barely a good game, if you want to see how people really view a seven out of ten you might want to look up how people reacted to Jim Sterling giving Zelda: Breath of the Wild a seven out of ten while constantly saying it is a good game and he had fun.

I think unfortunately right now some reviewers are suffering fatigue as well with Horizon Zero Dawn, Breath of the Wild, and now Andromeda all being released around the same time and having similar game play elements

IMO, Angry Joe does some good reviews. They're usually less than half an hour long, and he really goes into depth about the game, culminating in a 1 to 10 score (where 5 is average). He streamed Andromeda during early access and has reviewed all previous Mass Effect games, so we can expect an MEA review from him soon.

ACG (Angry Centaur Gaming) does a pretty good job as well. He has a Buy it Now, Wait For A Sale, or Rent scale.
