I read somewhere once that Bioware has around 800 employees. For comparison, my company has about 150 employees, and we currently have 12 openings posted. So no, in my opinion, 20 postings is not unusually high for a company their size. Okay, yeah, they still have a lot of postings open. I don't check their job posting page all that often because I am not looking for a job with them, but until March/April this year, whenever I had checked, there usually wasn't much. A 2012 article mentions that BioWare has 400 or so Canadian employees, but I'm not sure whether the journalist meant 'employees in Canada' or 'employees at all three studios with Canadian citizenship' since a number of long-time Edmonton studio staff are from the USA, and I think it's likely a bunch of Canadians are in Austin. Back in 2010, another article mentioned that the Montreal studio was doubling in size from 27 to 55 employees. I'm having trouble finding anything recent and reputable about number of employees, but I think 800 might be an overestimate. The wiki page on BioWare states 800, but the reference link is broken so I'm not sure how much I trust that figure. Even so, if they have at least 400 total, 20 job postings doesn't seem like anything to worry about. |

The New IP has been in development for... close to 3 years? So I'm guessing their plan was to release it late next year. I don't know if MEA's delay is going to impact that, but it's a lot further along than the next DA. Developing a new IP takes a lot more time than making the next game in an established series. The first time I heard about DA was 2004, and then it was 5 years after that until DAO came out. I'd say what comes first is completely in the air at the moment. They have a plan of course, but we have no way to see it. There appears to be a significant lull in game production though. If I look at the games they made in the past since ME1, that would be ME1 in 2007, DAO in 2009, ME2 in 2010, DA2 in 2011, ME3 in 2012 and DAI in 2014, more than two years between games, as it will be between DAI (2014) and ME1 (almost certainly 2017), that's unprecedented. I agree, starting an RPG from scratch is going to take a long time. To be fair, the "... close to 3 years?" is just a guess - they very well could have been doing the initial work for longer. But the New IP is definitely farther along in production - they were reviewing gameplay months ago. |

Are there Nugs in Tevinter? Or was that a Southern Thedas phenomena? There has been a definite Nug population boom. Something about the Breach?
Maybe they've migrated up North to Tevinter. If you go up to Redcliffe and look out over the water, you'll see a few nugs floating by on a piece of driftwood heading north.
They're wily like that.

A boerboel would be an even better mabari stand-in! I saw my first one at my local pool's "Swim with your dog" night yesterday. Wow... just dock the ears and you'd have the spitting image of a DAO mabari.

After a Blight, however, the darkspawn population takes a temporary hit, so the nug population probably increases proportionally. And since the Deep Roads extend to Tevinter, they'll probably be there, albeit in fewer numbers.
I expect to see more lizards like the dracolisk in Tevinter, since they apparently use them in their cavalry. Also, giants are apparently more common in Tevinter.

But despite Dorian's comment, I'd be surprised if we didn't see nugs runnin' around the wilderness areas. |
