Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah We aren't working on Dragon Age 3 We aren't working on Dragon Age 5 ... I guess that's that.
Annia Krevvata @angstyhedgehog I get the feeling that when you feel a little blue, you come here to tease the fans and giggle at the response. That's fair, we deserve it.

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Dra6on Age: Rivaini Drift CONFIRMED
Alicia - Triple Dots @usercdk1 @patrickweekes Since Mark teased us with a tweet ear earlier. Can you say~ Are you working on Dragon Age writing team? > I need you. You wrote all my fav Characters.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes I do not believe I can say.
That said, I am Lead Writer on the Dragon Age franchise, and, well, they keep sending me paychecks, so presumably I’m doing SOMETHING...
Ian S. Frazier @tibermoon Just a quick reminder: This trailer for Dragon Age: Origins was freaking awesome.
Also, Dragon Age Origins itself was freaking awesome.
David Gaider @davidgaider It was a step up from This is the New Shit, that's for sure.
Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw No no, Dave. I got to debut the New Shit to a room of disapproving German journalists. That is the greatest trailer experience possible.
David Gaider @davidgaider Slay and Lay, Mike. That's all you need to remember: Slay and Lay.
Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw If we never forget we will never repeat.
Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw I just made a joke about a trailer experience being ironically great, but for reals the greatest trailer moment ever was the wall of sound that hit me when Solas first appeared above the PAX West main stage during Trespasser’s debut panel.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes "I am eternally grateful that Dragon Age: Inquisition let me roleplay as the hot mess I am..." Awwwwww! t.co/sCXMOzjNmh
🐉Melissa 🦄Davidson 🐲 deedlite I actually wanted to romance Solas in my 1st Inquisition playthrough until he was like, "The fade is great!" At which point I was like, "omg hes evil!!!" 🤣 I switched to Iron Bull after that!
Karin Weekes @karinweekes BEST CHOICE 😁
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes People who like the Fade aren’t necessarily evil! The Fade is just a reflection of one’s consciousness, often misunderstood and misjudged but no more intrinsically evil than those who observe it oh no I’m doing it aren’t I
Karin Weekes @karinweekes E. VIL. *sits back and waits for the words to start coming in a 6/8 meter*

E. R. Trevelyan @dametrevelyan It's terribly unfair to Blackwall; even if the author didn't appreciate the romance, I think she could have expressed her opinion in a more courteous and measured way.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes I hear that. That said, it doesn't offend me (nor would it likely bother Blackwall's writer), because we've all heard a lot worse, and said worse to each other, so we're all relaxed about snark in articles (ie, not directed at us specifically).
E. R. Trevelyan @dametrevelyan Yes, of course, and I understand. I also guess writers may have more distance from their creation. But I speak as a fan of the character, the paragraph made me suffer -no anger, just pain-. But It's ok
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Ah, it's not so much distance as... well, people say "familiarity breeds contempt," right? And that's how we get. We all trash-talk each other's followers, because we stare at those same conversations from the time they're words in a toolset until the game ships. That makes it sound like I don't care about them, or dislike them, and that's not true. It's more that they're family. And I can embrace Blackwall's deep character arc and also casually toss out, "Plus he killed a wagonload of kids," in conversation. Sorry, not explaining well.

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
John Epler @eplerjc One of those weeks where, day-by-day, it felt like not a lot happened, but I look at the beginning of the week and then the end, and it's just... wow, how was that only 5 days?
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes You directed a great deal of narrative, dude.
Brianne Battye @bbattye I think this week was three weeks long. But, like, in a good way. But also...
BioWare @bioware #FreeComicBookDay? Absolutely. To celebrate, we’re giving away a set of Mass Effect comics and a set of Dragon Age comics from @darkhorsecomics. RT to enter. #FCBD

Mary Kenney @maryknews Gamedevs! Something I've noticed: we work hard to make things, then don't give ourselves time to celebrate what we made. Tell me about a shipped thing you're proud of! ✨
I'll start: Violet + Clementine's romance scene💜🍊 Took many drafts to get there, but it was worth it.
John Epler @eplerjc The final confrontation with Solas in Trespasser. Lots of back and forth with @patrickweekes to nail that scene.
It was the longest conversation in DAI, and I am proud it still didn't feel that way.
Mark Anderson @markemer It was? It sure didn't. I was a little bummed you had to romance solas to yell at him in elvish, but my Lavellan let him have it in English...I mean, "the common tongue"
John Epler @eplerjc I think (and either @patrickweekes or @davidgaider can correct me if I'm wrong) it was one of our only scenes to need two dialogue files, due to length restrictions, and it was the longest of that small subset.
Honestly, as silly as it sounds - Trespasser was a turning point for me. What we learned from that - and on a more personal level, how that solidified my working and personal relationship with @patrickweekes - is a large part of where I am today.

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Same answer.
Mariah who death forgot @jurassic_snark The “secret” dialogue option in that scene gave me indescribable joy so thank you for that.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes That was specifically because @bbattye noted that I needed that option. (Not that she NECESSARILY feels that way, but she noted the lack and suggested the fix.)

Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes YEP. You and me, finding the memory limits of the cinematic system.
Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw The limit was... ...11.
Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw The limit was... ...11.
Patrick Stevens @inkdagger 11 what exactly? I've always been curious how video game scripts are written and this seems like the perfect time to ask what the limits exactly are. And, unfortunately, writing courses in college had a big ol' shrug when video game scripts are even mentioned.
Mike Laidlaw @mike_Laidlaw There’s no explicit limit to the tech excepting if the assets loaded cause the memory to over-run the limit on the console. Assets in this case being characters, level, lighting, animations, active scripts, character appearances, etc etc

David Gaider @davidgaider The resolution of the Morrigan/Flemeth plot in DAI. Easily the most complex scene I've written, as it had three overlapping variants and juggled a lot of different needs - not least of which was wrapping up a sub-plot we'd agonized over. The VA's nailed it, too.

Sarah Madsen @unfetteredmuse "He is my *son*."
💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭
David Gaider @davidgaider The best part of that is that Kieran is played by Claudia Black's RL son. 😀
(As an added trivia bonus, in case you didn't know: Kieran in that DAI scene is played by Claudia Black's actual son, Odin. So when Morrigan says "he is my son!" ...she really means it. 😀)
Linkenski Link"Guess"ski Would you say there's ever a time in the writer's pit where you guys went "WHat, do we dO with this??" over the years?
David Gaider @davidgaider Yes. I'm usually the one asking that, and the writers would give me nothing but joke answers for maybe... a year? Then they might get serious about it.

Mariah who death forgot @jurassic_snark That’s been one of my favorite things about the DA series TBH. No matter how you feel about a character, there’s usually an option for that.
Brianne Battye @bbattye The almost-record-scratch that got put on the score was beyond my wildest dreams
