Hey there! I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect, it was my first rated M game back when it came out, and I've spent a lot of time with it and its characters. So, now that Andromeda's out, I'm getting a little worried about the Metacritic and other review scores. It looks like they're really stuck up about the animations, which I'm sure will get fixed, but I just wanted to know whether or not I should be worried about this. I was, and still am, so excited about this game, but if it's really, really, not worth it, I will refund. I just want a really cool space adventure in lieu of the original trilogy. Will this game scratch that itch, or should I look elsewhere?
If you have suggestions also for other space games, should this not deliver, please feel free to let me know your suggestions too! Thank you so much!

Yes, you should totally forget about mass effect. In fact, set fire to your previous games and make 100 accounts on metacritic giving them all a 0 score.
Or, you know... form your own opinion about the game after playing it.
Either's fine.

Nah just read/watch as many reviews as you care to and try and make your mind up based on what you see or read and how you feel about the points raised. Games getting panned by critics won't necessarily mean you'll feel the same way as them and similarly the other way too, only you truly know what you want from a game.
I'm sure people who have played their fair share of this game will chime in with their opinions too and that hopefully will help for you.

Thank you so much! I wouldn't worry about it. There are also a ton of positive reviews out there saying that this is a fantastic game. I would suggest reading the Forbes article on the game to get a good review.
Forbes - 8.5/10: "I have a feeling that Mass Effect fans will enjoy the game, but I don’t think anyone will claim it outclasses the original trilogy, outside of maybe the very first game. If you could combine the story and memorable quests of the originals with the combat, visuals and scope of Andromeda, you would have the perfect video game, though I think what's offered here will satisfy most. Despite its issues, Andromeda is welcome return to one of my favorite fictional universes, and I am still not ready to let Mass Effect go. I'm not sure I ever will be."
If you're going into this thinking that it is Mass Effect 4, then you will be disappointed. If you go into it thinking it's Mass Effect Andromeda, you will enjoy it greatly.

Thank you so much! Im enjoying it. Been playing 14 hours now and haven't run across anything as bad as Liara turning her head all the way around to talk to me, so eh, it is what it is. Could it be a little cleaner? Sure. But ME has always been bad at that part. Im enjoying the adventure. And I think they have done a pretty good job of adding things but not making them massively important. You like to scan? You can and get a benifit from it. You dont like to? No biggie you can find a lot of what you need with out it. Make it a good mix for when you feel like doing something different a bit, but not making you feel like you have to spend hours scanning everything you see. Anyway over all it seems like a pretty standard ME game.

Anyway over all it seems like a pretty standard ME game. See, this is what I was thinking. Sure, the animations can be poor and the dialogue cheesy, but hasn't Mass Effect always been like this? Didn't Shepard have some cheesy one-liners and weren't the animations a little silly in the original trilogy (those dance moves!)? I feel like people are saying this is a good Mass Effect game, but a bad 2017 game, which I think is an unfair comparison, especially to those nostalgic about the trilogy. Mass Effect isn't trying to be something it's not, and I'm sure the issues will get fixed soon enough. Do you agree with this sentiment?

If you're on the fence watch a stream of someone else playing. It will give you an idea of whether the game looks like something worth purchasing on Day 1, or whether you'd rather rent or buy later from the bargain bin.

Pretty much the only way to get an opinion from someone else. You get to see all the game rather than cherry picked moments along with their reactions at the time of playing rather than a likely overly critical nit pick of some issues while glazing over all the good.

I don't know how involved you are in the gaming community, but people have hated Bioware with a passion since 2011. If you thought Mass Effect 3 was great, you'll probably think Mass Effect: Andromeda is at least good, despite it's problems. If you thought Mass Effect 3 was mediocre, you'll probably think the same of this.
Honestly, Mass Effect: Andromeda is kind of a blending of Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but not pulled off the best.
I recommend getting it, even if I'm disappointed it doesn't live up to the original trilogy.

Yes, you should totally forget about mass effect. In fact, set fire to your previous games and make 100 accounts on metacritic giving them all a 0 score. Or, you know... form your own opinion about the game after playing it. Either's fine. The purpose of reviews is to let us know if we should spend our money on a full price game or wait for a discount. Personally, I can't reward BW for such a sloppy job. But I will certainly buy, and most likely enjoy, the game at $30.

Livestreams, and proper lets plays give a much better idea of what a game is like along with how the person playing it likes it.

It definitely lacks quality. For me it was abit depressing while playing trial version. Right away i saw those small things like this place in room, wheres desk and other furniture, you have space between em to move, but you cant without abit of struggle. Its very small thing, but those small things adds together for bigger picture, but in same time the good things i experienced outweighed those bad ones. All in all its just not fully polished game. When its trial its not very big deal, but when you have to pull out your wallet for whole game its different story. If you have pre ordered i guess you should carry on imo, cuz theres definitely some good things to experience. If you cant decide buy or not. I would say dont buy it at this moment. I really doubt they ll fix facial problems, at least not in near future, but you never know. I would wait abit anyway, maybe they fix, maybe price drops etc.

Like others said, your best bet is to watch the videos and decide. that's what I'm doing for the past five+ years for each game I'm buying. We live in desperate times for video games.

If you are talking about user reviews, even if the game would score critically like Zelda the score would have been in the red.
If you talking about the critic score, well, if the EA access still works you should try it and judge for yourself.
