Got my first char to level 20. Passive bonus is a whopping 1%. There are various classes that share the same bonuses, but you will need to reset them to a total of 20 times to see any noticeable benefits I guess?
That is based on the assumption there is no cap. But if there is no cap and you can stand leveling a class 500 times....then score?

There are at least six weapons than carry a peepee character at level 1 on gold with max damage/barrrel + ap or incend once maxed.
Combined with XP boosters it won't be as long as you think.

As majority of people understood based on what developers tweeeted: 1. There is no need to actually promote, the experience is still accumulated even if playing level 20. 2. Bonus is capped, probably somewhere around 20% overall but exact numbers are unknown.
This all might be wrong though, hopefully it does not come to DAIMP promotion lords.

Sorry, I meant promote as in getting ranks of the bonus passive. IE. 1%x1,1%x2, etc. The way they described it on their stream was like if you had a squishy char you kinda sorta maybe wanted to try, you could make it easier by gaining xp on one of the sturdier classes that gave bonus passives to shields or health.
I was expecting to have to work for it. I wasn't expecting 1% though.

It's logical to have it capped, but 20% sounds low. Probably more like 35%, if capped at all.

The devs have stated that it caps at 10 for now. I imagine that will likely go up with DLC releases, but time will tell Hopefully, they don't move it too far up as much more would start to build a rift between vets and new players. We do not need a DAMP situation on our hands
