I just completed the first batch of Havarl quests, culminating in the Vault and the FMoA (my 16th, though not all on one save). I noticed the RemTech in the Havarl Vault for the very first time. WTH? Scott said, "Oh look. RemTech." I found it beneath the platform in the Gravity Well room. Crazy. I thought, "Cool! I'll have to grab it on the way out of here." I then sprinted promptlyo the console and reactivated, forgetting that this locks down the RemTech. Oops. I'll grab it next time. I always get some laughs from the Mithrava peak. Sacred, reclusive outpost of hermits? Let's call in a Forward Station. Skinny little female angara? Not judging by the bass in her voice! (With any other publisher, I'd think this was accidental. With BioWare? 🙄) With the significant sexual dimporphism of the Angara, I'd think that fixing that voice would be far easier than reshaping those physiques; so maybe they really are just errors? I didn't get to play much today, but I think I'll call it a night. I'll mess around on the BSN a bit and go to sleep. Hopefully I'll get more gaming time tomorrow. I'm still loving the gameplay of this build. Crazy, layered explosions all around! Often, there are the glowing, sparking leftovers of both Biotic and Tech detonations in the same spot after a fight. I barely even shoot during many fights, and they still end in no time. Aaaghh the Rem Tech in the vaults just ain't worth it, I rarely get it. Usually cause I forget but also cause I just can't be bothered.

It never occurred to me to search for it in a two-room vault. I like the extra challenge of grabbing it along the way. Since this is a NG+ PT, I'm unable to use those Remnant Decryption Keys fast enough. I keep hitting the 9 key limit despite using them on every puzzle.

So yesterday Sara finally got to leave Kadara, fun place that it is. Before she left though, Sara got invited to a party with Reyes and thanks to Umi may have gotten a little bit tipsy (read blind drunk ) and danced on tables and sat in queen Sloanes chair!!! After leaving the party she enjoyed a nice moment with Reyes and a 645 year old bottle of scotch. Both decided Heleus had certainly been an adventure and whilst Sara didn't really trust him she couldn't help but like the rogue. Then Sara received an unexpected call from Sloane asking her to watch her back at a meeting with The Charlatan. Sara desperately didn't want to be involved but agreed to go. I actually hate how the game puts you in this situation like it or not. I would have preferred that you could say no to Sloane and that you had to live with the outcome of one or the other winning or losing. It's shit because I can't stand Sloane, even after reading the book I just can't see that she is the right person to run anything. However being forced into saying I have your back and doing nothing is damn annoying as I just can't see Ryder doing that. Anyway as melbella predicted Sloane copped a bullet in the back and Sara felt guilty afterwards but she just couldn't see a way forward with Sloane as leader due to her irreconcilable hatred of the Initiative. What Sara did agree with was Reyes saying that Sloane would have brought wwar to Heleus and we don't have the population for that. Then went and got some beer for Kesh, tracked down Ruth Bekker and actually let her live this time. The conversation afterwards was quite good, gonna put her and whatever her son's name is back in the fridge till there is a cure. Then it was back to talk to Reyes re an outpost which she duly set up, then after a chat with Dr Nakamoto and good ol' Christmas Tate Sara took care of Ol' Skinner and set up the Heleus news transmitter (of all of them this one shits me to tears, I can never find an easy way to the damn site ) Some pic's: High Noon, I hate Sloane but I still always feel guilty!!! I love Umi but she's evil

Having fun on Voeld. It's a dreary place full of game-bugs, and seems even more poorly optimized than the rest of the game. Still, it has some of the best quests and combat in the entire game, so it's a lot of fun on the balance. I hope I don't encounter the game-breaker that has ended 5 of my previous 15 PTs.
We just arrived, so I'm no too far into the quests, yet. We've visited Hjara and a few other spots in the west of the map. We'll rescue Skeeot's uncle in a few minutes. Man, the fights really are fun on Voeld. I think it's the best planet for consistently good combat.
I finally got another Bioconverter via RNG while on Havarl. That was perfect timing, since I'd just unlocked the extra augmentation slot via cryoperk. I immediately built another Valkyrie, this one without the Beam Emitter. I was missing the sound and feedback of the MW ballistic weapons. It's nearly identical, in terms of performance. I'll break down the slight differences below. I can detect a slight change in accuracy. My headshots were off in the first two encounters in which I used it. I quickly adapted, though, and got back on target.
Valkyrie-FA/bio (Tier 10; Autofire, Bioconverter; Kinetic Coils x2, Dual Mod Extension) This one is just as good as the Beam Emitter version. You're basically swapping the BE's perfect starting accuracy and stability for the versatility of the dual mod extension. This translates to a negligible difference in performance. The DME is used to add two extra mods: stability via a stock and penetration via a receiver. The is just a different way to nearly achieve the BE's inherent stability. The penetration is a minor advantage over the BE version.
Valkyrie-FABE/bio (Tier 10; Autofire; Bioconverter; Kinetic Coils x2; Beam Emitter) The BE has no penetration, but has better stability than the above version. While the accuracy is statistically equal, it feels different aiming a beam versus projectiles. Since the stability of the BE is perfect, and it lacks penetration, it's easy to swap the DME and BE as desired. Again, performance is so similar that it's a matter of aesthetics and preference. Do you want to feel feedback and hear reports of the ballistic weapon? Go DME. Want to use a crazy, alien particle beam weapon? Go BE. (If this were a Hornet, the extra stability of the BE would be a slight advantage, in my opinion.)
I'm still loving the Sentinel (Lance/Annihilation/Energy Drain). I don't think it will ever get old. If anything, the detonations are becoming even more frequent, violent and fun as I progress. It's clear that Sentinel was designed with this build in mind. (Sentinel grants bonuses to both PR&D and Shield Cost Reduction. "Leader" grants Sentinel, Annihilation and Energy Drain. Pretty clear.) The FMoA ensures a fast, exciting pace to combat by resetting cooldown on each kill. Using the Valkyrie instead of a shotgun allows for long-range efficacy in addition to CQC dominance. It really is a totally badass Ryder. Plus, I like the "combo classes". Sentinel is a techie who's also a Biotic. That's fun in terms of RP. It feels extra right when Ryder starts talking Tech with NPCs since he is a tech-head. I really like the biotic jump more than the jet pack jump. If I could swap the two, Sentinel would be perfect! Biotic Blink would be even more fun, but has some combat applications that would make this unbalanced.
A Kett finally dodged a Lance for the first time all game. I threw it at short range and he did the little lateral hop. He got promptly shot and sliced, of course. I'm surprised that this has only happened once all game. It's likely because I generally use ED in advance of Lance. ED stuns the target momentarily. If not ED, the bum might be floating in my Annihilation radius. Hehe. So much fun.

I have actually started firing the Valkyrie with a slight sideways and up movement to cover that and it seems to give more headshots.

I like that they dodge. They have to at least try to survive. They dodge less often than Cerberus troopers rolled in ME3. I assumed a roll from those guys and targeted accordingly. The task with the "Scourge Gem" and the Wild Adhi was fun. I feel a little badly for killing so many space doggos; but they aren't really dogs. Dogs are way better. Anything that just sprints into the Annihilation AoE is begging to be detonated twice. It's a lot of fun! Primed-> ED = detonation & primed-> Lance detonation (again)! EDIT: Having the projectile penetration again (being able to shoot through cover) has been nice. I'd say that puts the ballistic weapon ahead of the beam weapon in efficacy. I hate noise, so at some point I'll get tired of hearing even the sweet sound of the Valkyrie. When that time comes, I'll have my Beam version as a fall back option. Every time I find a well-hidden crate or item, I think of joshendriks . His pre-release posts still inspire me to look in dark, out of the way corners. There's almost always something tucked away in those places. 😉 Same for space travel. I always think, "Thanks for the 'Space', Jos! It's awesome!"

In ME3 it was quite easy, as the animation starting sequence was easily noticeable, it was quite slow and there was a pause before it (like shepards sequence and in the multiplayer, which hampers it a lot) Satisfying to learn that and kill them in the start of the roll animation or in the middle haha

My neck was entirely too unstable and painful to feel like attempting sleep, so I played a ton of Voeld tonight. I was enjoying the bug that eliminates the Level-1 cold hazard, so I rode that as far as possible. After laying waste to the kett base, and then liberating Ja Nihk, I moved on to establishing an outpost with Eska Yeveth's invitation. I will activate the Vault next, having linked two of three monoliths before my headphones died. Then, I'll take on the Architect and hope for no game-breaking bug.
I let the Remnant AI stay with SAM this time. I usually give it to the Angara; but I decided to accede to its wishes this time (the non-suicidal ones, at least). Cora is right that the optics are bad, but it's not like we won't share, as Jaal suggested. I believe that the Jardaan are just a segment of a species who "ascended" to machine intelligence. I have a feeling that this species' minds are still active within their tech. It could be that this AI is actually a mind of organic origin translated to machine intelligence form. Whether or not that's the case, it's still sapient. I'll give it its way this time. The "Angara AI" who claims to not know the Angara, alongside the weird, not-quite-Angara statue in the same location, has cool implications.
I would turn off environmental hazards if I could. They just don't add anything to the game, other than occasionally being annoyingly overboard on high-level Insanity. The listed temperatures aren't even that extreme. It adds nothing positive to the game. It would be better, at least, if Voeld operated as a cold version of Elaaden, becoming more hospitable after Vault-activation. Sadly, even if this was the intent, it has never functioned this way. I guess I should be more worried about whether my PT will be derailed by Voeld's general bugginess. Losing 5 of 15 PTs to a game-breaker on Voeld is nuts. That's a 1/3 failure rate. It kind of makes me look insane for continuing to play the game so much.

Finished up Voeld this afternoon, and experienced no game-breaking bugs! I'll get to finish this PT, it seems. After the Architect, we rescued the Moshae and many Resistance fighters from the Kett Exaltation Facility. We went immediately back planetside to follow up on Raelis' intel, and learned some things about the Archon, his subordinates and the greater Kett Empire. They have a senate, for instance, to whom the Archon is subordinate; and he seems to be working outside of mission parameters.
I saved in the Nexus Docking Bay. Havarl and Voeld are in the rearview, and I've not yet talked to Keri about Eos. She goes from low-key and easily missed to standing on the balcony screaming, "Pathfinder, do you have a minute?" I need to visit PeeBee for her big revelation, and another of Alec's memories is accessible. Then, on to Aya and the next chapter of the story.

I have let it stay with SAM about 4 times I think and I have only given it to the Angara twice I think. I can't remember exactly but I think Evfra's reaction stopped me doing that more often. The other 7 times I have just killed it. You have an interesting take on the Jardaan. I am not sure about organics ascended into machine form, and the AI just says the current Angara aren't " the ones who designed it" which is kind of ambiguous but implies to me it was an organic species. I am more inclined to think that they are a hybrid of organic, machine and AI but more advanced and integrated than Ryder and SAM. Yeah I agree the environmental hazards are just annoying, especially EOS's radiation. I'd much rather finish EOS than be forced to leave and then come back.

So yesterday Sara didn't get much time so she went to AYA and did lots of little missions for Merixus, sorted Sorvis Lenn out, spoke to some Angara about relocating to the Nexus in exchange for Nexus people. Got lectured to by Aksuul at a meeting with the Moshae and bought some Angaran plant for Suvi to turn into snacks. Spoke to drunk PeeBee at the museum as well. Got a message from Suvi that EOS was in trouble and went back to the Tempest to here Bradley's distress call and that was it for the day. Caught me a space hamster and put it in my room on the Tempest. Some pic's Said Hamster Some space scenery

I decided not to play anymore tonight, but only because I'm not in the mood for all of the Aya talky-talk. Were Ryder in a combat zone, I'd be playing right now.
I felt that way a lot in ME3 too. Wanted to be out killing bad guys but instead had to float around the Citadel playing delivery girl.

Yeah, I've almost caught up to dazk . That means I'm playing too much! I decided not to play anymore tonight, but only because I'm not in the mood for all of the Aya talky-talk. Were Ryder in a combat zone, I'd be playing right now.
I felt that way a lot in ME3 too. Wanted to be out killing bad guys but instead had to float around the Citadel playing delivery girl.
I was just having the same thought. I'm not sure if that speaks well of the gameplay, or poorly of the non-combat encounters and pacing. I'd have liked Aya more if it were simply a large Daar on an explorable planet-- drive in and talk to people, get quests, etc... then head out into the world. I usually don't love designated "hubs" unless the RP is very immersive. I just saw some comments elsewhere online regarding a player's feelings about Sara Ryder. He said the "VA's voice was just too high-pitched and delivery too inconsistent," and that he had to stop and restart as Scott. I thought, " melbella and I aren't the only ones who feel this way."

Yeah playing MET before I also found myself wishing we could just get on with the fighting and there are too many moments like that in MEA as well. In MEA it seems worse because The Nexus and Aya hubs can be a huge talkfest broken up by running back and forth between the different sections which in itself is annoying. Somehow they need to break those big dialogue moments down and insert them into on planet moments even if it means they make you take certain characters to certain places.

More importantly, as you said, the protagonist starts to settle into the role. I think this does come across in tone, though I would've preferred a more even development. I understand why they did it this way; it just doesn't click with me. In a related tangent, I roll my eyes every time the characters say, "The Initiative isn't military, blah blah blah..." It really should've been more militaristic. The order, discipline and firepower all would've been useful, and could've saved lives. The Pathfinder team absolutely is military. They're a team of commandos who explore in full battle armor, strapped with weapons and crazy combat skills. To suggest otherwise is foolish. The "young farm boy/girl to superhero" story, and "the Initiative isn't military" bit are my biggest pet peeves, even ahead of all of the bugs.

Yeah I don't believe that anyone would be naïve enough to travel to another galaxy without a serious military compliment. I understand the thought behind it but no alien species would expect another alien species to turn up in their galaxy even if they were just exploring without a significant military component just to protect The Nexus if nothing else. Yeah the Pathfinder team whilst mostly from civilian careers are certainly an armed unit to be reckoned with. And yes, they obviously trained for it cause no one goes into a fire fight like on habitat 7 and handles a military force of unknown capabilities as well as Ryder, Cora and Liam did without military training.

Theres a video from I think wavebend and I think there was some mention also in the cut out content. I can only imagine how incredible games would be if everything were workable and affordable, and devs got to implement all of their great concepts. It's always a mild bummer when you learn a feature you believe is much-needed was cut. It means the devs either once agreed, but later moved in another direction; or agreed but couldn't get it to work under their limitations.

Had to redo some missions that were lost during a crash. Restocked all the medical caches. Found Priya's people. Fought the Architect (which Jaal knew the name of even though this is our first encounter with one). Finished activating all the monoliths and need to head to the Vault. That should complete Voeld once done. Had a screenshot but GeForce didn't save it.
