I logged in and did some testing this afternoon. I found a build with which I had a lot of fun. Biotic Bomber? BioTech Commando? (I’m not sure what I’d call it. ) Sentinel (Lance/Shockwave/Energy Drain) I have been enjoying playing as a Sentinel for the first time.Sentinel is the ideal Profile for this. It grants +40% Combo Damage. It reduces the cost of Lance by 45%. It improves the effectiveness of Energy Drain and your Tech Passives by 45%. It even adds a bit of extra durability via Tech Armor. Still, maybe you’re worn out using Sentinel, or really like other Profiles. Explorer is pretty solid, and one I barely ever use. It can’t compete with Sentinel, but it gives a few useful perks. It boosts weapon damage by 15%, which helps pretty much anyone. It gives 15 Damage Resistance. Cool. It improves Energy Drain and Tech Passives by 40%. Not bad. It’s far less ideal than Sentinel, but it works. If you’re looking to do less optimization, like I have been doing, this is a lesser alternative that’s still fun. * Lance is a pretty good direct damage power, which is a rare thing, but that’s not its best feature. It is a detonator with no cooldown. You can throw as many as you like. Yes, it uses barrier, but that doesn’t matter for the following reasons: You have Energy Drain. You have Team Support 6B (Life Support). You have Auxiliary Systems 6A (Shield Feedback). You have a Shield Oscillator in all of your assorted Chest Pieces. Basically, you always have barrier to burn, meaning you can hurl as many Lances as you wish. An okay alternative to Lance would be Concussive Shot or Throw. They are not going to put out great damage, and are not going to dovetail beautifully with Energy Drain, Sentinel and your Tech Passives. Still, they’re functional. I didn’t find them nearly as fun, effective or flavorful, though, to be honest. I like Concussive shot because it not only detonates stuff but it sits enemies on their ass as well.
* Shockwave: I initially had Singularity here, since it is somewhat “better”. I found that I wasn’t using Singularity as often as I could, though. It regens constantly with FMoA, but still felt like a “slow” power. Shockwave is less useful versus heavies and bosses, but it’s a rapid-release primer/detonator that lifts. It’s a solid power that fits nicely into this rotation. It’s also fun in that I’ve pretty much never used it since it was introduced back in ME2. I like shockwave because when you are being rushed its just fun to send enemies flying, plus its utility value of freeing enemies trapped in walls etc.!!!!!* Energy Drain: Alongside Tactical Cloak, this is arguably the king of active skills. It primes, it detonates, it restores your barrier! Not only that, but it constantly triggers your awesome Tech Passives. It’s the ultimate “Invincibility Skill” in MEA, and it can be yours for three easy payments of $29.99 a handful of skill points. I might have a look at Energy Drain todayEDIT: Added some alternative options.

What exactly does "Power Restoration & Defense" mean? Does it reduce cooldowns? Increase damage resistance? I have no clue what it does. I am guessing power restoration means reduced cool downs or no cool downs and defence meaning a boost to shields and/or a health boost as well.

What exactly does "Power Restoration & Defense" mean? Does it reduce cooldowns? Increase damage resistance? I have no clue what it does. I wondered this for weeks after launch, since the game provides no context. It improves the effects of any powers, items and or passive skills that provide defensive bonuses or restorative bonuses. Energy Drain, for instance, restores shields. With PR&D, it’s X% more effective. A big PR&D bonus can be a step toward invincibility with the right build, equipment and passive skills. It’s never bad to have, and can be really good. Those Tech Passives I love so much trigger healing and shield regeneration every time you use a tech skill. This can be any tech skill, so Tactical Cloak Soldiers or Energy Drain Sentinels or whomever benefit. Even targeting Zap or your Turret counts as an activation and triggers the Passives. It’s crazy good, and all of this improves with PR&D. This is why nearly all of my builds include at least one active Tech Skill. It’s a non-stop source of healing and shield boosts. I basically only play without tech if I’m in the mood for a full Adept. After all that typing in my last post, I ended up back with an old favorite: Sentinel (Lance/Annihilation/Energy Drain) Annihilation is just too damn fun. Lance + ED + Shooting is more than enough at long range. Up close, Annihilation makes everyone and everything float, explode and die even faster. Wraiths can’t stealth since they get lifted by the 6B Vortex evolution. It’s also fun to see the cloud of floating wreckage in your radius after each fight. The FMoA is a huge part of this build, like most of my stuff. It allows me to keep throwing EDs without cooldowns, which keeps my health and shield topped off and the combo chains primed and detonating. For anyone who is a sucker for combo explosions like I am, this build has more than most. Cora adds cryo to the mix. Drack adds fire. Vetra and Liam add tech explosions. Jaal and PeeBee prime less frequently, but still do okay. I really enjoy attacking camps because of the canisters that are everywhere. They add a ton of flash and damage to the mix.

I wish Biotic Blink weren’t exclusive to Explorer. It’s fun, but Explorer never fits my goal. There is absolutely always a better option. I’m not much of a “Jack of All Trades” guy when it means compromising peak performance. My character can be good at everything without using that Profile.
Annihilation is crazy on Habitat 7. I can see why it’s gated. Even with crappy gear and no FMoA, it’s nuts.

I can't seem to pick anything other than Infiltrator profile for more than a few minutes. I don’t use scopes, so it’s not too useful for me. If I sniped a lot I’d probably use it. The cloaked dodge is cool. I tend to play from point-blank to mid-range. I’ve never used the weapon we get at the shuttle on H7. I always deconstruct it and stick with the Avenger. I’m about to try out the Katana shotgun offered to Ryder with Leader training. Edit: It’s slow and weak, of course. Needs burst or autofire. Man, it’s great to hear Tom’s VA work again. His Ryder is great. Making us start in red and black for NG+ sucks. It looks stupid; especially when the helmet turns white. Ugh. Now it’s on to the boring ass Nexus. Fast start turns to a crawl.

So yesterday in Andromeda, Sara drove round and round and f#%@&ing round on EOS. Oh man I was actually fatigued after 3hrs of EOS yesterday, I actually felt like I had been driving my car for about 6 hours!!!!! Anyway Sara got it all done, well all that can be completed at this stage. Completed all the random generation missions, took down the Architect and didn't do the deal with Advent, placed survey beacons and listened to Eric Jr who made Cora cry, found some drones, placed a pendant for Dash McCoy, completed Ghost of Promise, rescued the people who escaped Eos on the shuttle, did site 2's project and killed the fiend, solved the murder case and exiled Nilken, rescued the stupid workers trying to control The Revenant, fished Lexi out of the Vortex and finally heard someone actually performing Karaoke (The Angaran Poet) and genereally shot a lot of Kett and Remnant. Had fun playing with The Hornet for a while, it makes a great back up for when my Valkyrie runs out of ammo. Used it exclusively on The Architect, happy days I am not much up for playing today, feeling a bit off but will make my way to Voeld and try and at least get all the missions from the main base. Some pic's: Took this guy down with an SMG and didn't use any powers or skills!!!! Getting up close with a Destroyer. And then its lights out: The Hornet frying a bot Looking down on Prodromos

Since I didn’t want to skip all of the dialogue (just a lot of it), getting off of the Nexus took a long time. Then, Scott toured his ship and got familiarized with the crew. Amorous dog flirted with Suvi (got shutdown) and Cora (looks promising).
I got the wardrobe looking just right. I like to wear Ai colors, but try to do it in differing ways. This time I kept the shirt and pants a dark grey, matching the Hyperion crew’s gear. The side panels I colored to match the Ai triangle on the chest. It’s tricky, since those side panels naturally come out darker and richer in color; but I got it done.
I’m trying a new armor scheme in an effort to disguise the clipping on Scott’s Pathfinder Armor. Sara’s useless neck flap lies behind the breastplate. Scott’s flaps over the top and has clipping. Instead of going white, I kept the armor dark grey as in the N7 color scheme. This disguises the clipping. I changed the red to the blue found on Ai armor sets. I used Pattern #2, same Ai blue. I’m not sure if it will be too dark for my liking, but I’m going to give it a shot. At the very least, it creates a cool-looking grey and blue underarmor.
Scott got a slight cosmetic tune-up: Chin height -1; nose height +1; mouth depth -1; chin depth -1; scar intensity reduced to 1.0. He’s now even more dead sexy, and sure to woo some space honeys.
Since all of this prep took forever, we parked in orbit over Eos. The good news is that Scott will hit Eos looking and feeling great. 😆
I’m eager to unleash my Biotic Bomber on the Kett. I’m also glad to be playing Scott again. I love Tom’s VA work, and I really like Scott’s character. The only thing I’d change, given a chance, is his job history. Guarding a Relay? Seriously, dude? So, basically, it was boring and did nothing to prepare you for Andromeda? Sara’s past is a bit sketchy and requires the player to decide just what exactly she did. Scott’s, though, is pretty clear and clearly boring. I wish his past had been focused on Alliance Peacekeeping in the colonies, or something. “We served on colonies throughout the Attican Traverse. We saw some action, but nothing like this.” Much better in my opinion than, “I used to guard a Mass Relay”. Cool story, bro.

Better a fade to black than what I saw in the Jaal romance. I never went through with it. Only Reyes and Gil. Is this scene explicit or something?

Scott says at some point his unit often dealt with pirates in the colonies. I don't remember when. This is cool. This is exactly what I had in mind. This should’ve been his backstory, not “I guarded a Mass Relay.” Better a fade to black than what I saw in the Jaal romance. I never went through with it. Only Reyes and Gil. Is this scene explicit or something? It shows nudity, which is no big deal. Then comes the “cut away at the last second” oral sex.

I just established Prodromos. As I always say, the Eos Vault is the best of the primary vaults. The extra effort to craft the others on par would’ve been worth it, in my opinion. The vaults should’ve been the highlight or capstone of the planet. They were clearly intended to be a narrative/plot focus, even if they are skippable. My Biotic Bomber Scott is proving fun to play. Annihilation is the ultimate bug zapper. Weak enemies like kaerkyn are torn apart upon entering the field. I enjoy milling into a crowd of foes and destroying them faster than they can even drop my barrier. Prime -> Detonate -> Shoot -> and so on in one order or another. Glorious! (Cailan Theirin voice) The build is still viable at long range, too, since Lance and ED are fairly long ranged. Headshots with Lance made me laugh the first half-dozen times. It’s not what I’m expecting when I throw a bolt of energy. I really like the logic and feel of the build. A Biotic projects a kinetic barrier (or enhances the one his armor provides) as well as a radius of shifting, unstable gravitic anomalies. Then, he can release some of the energy in his barrier as a lance-like projectile. Pretty cool. All the while, he’s using his kit and skill with technology to deploy Energy Drain on his foes, constantly feeding that barrier and throwing more explosive variables into the mix for his foes. Glorious! (Again!) I’m taking a break presently to recharge my headset and myself. It’s tiresome to wear a headset for too long. I wish I could find the right audio solution.

Currently sitting around trying to figure out how I want to mod my sidewinder iv. I've been using burst fire/vintage/reaction enhancerx2 but at current level of gear/pistol skill thats 2 bursts then cool down. Might go with bio converter this time. Maybe if my clip size was such that it was 3 bursts the vintage would work.
Maybe I should of gone with NG+ again instead of rerolling then I'd at have heavy clip x and clip boosts from pistols and combat fitness.
I never really messed around with augments before I used shotguns and they are beast with like no effort.
Anyone know if plasma charge is worth a damn on guns like this or at all?

How does the adept profile work vs sentinel when it comes to biotic explosions. I'd assume the adepts chain explosion thing is better than just power damage but I never went sentinel to see.

Chain explosions don’t seem powerful enough to me. Often, even after a secondary explosion, the target is still alive. I feel like I get better results from pure combo damage increases. I don’t have the math to prove it, of course. Biotics would’ve/could’ve/should’ve benefited from better physics. While testing versions of this build, I lifted a foe with Shockwave, hit him with a combo, and he dropped to the ground from a great height alive. (This is common with Pull, as well.) I feel like that happens to me constantly with Adept. It’s more rare with Sentinel, though some of that could be attributed to my typical active skill array with each profile. It’s easy to get frustrated when the living foe launches 300m away. If he’s nearby, you just shoot him and keep going. I use a lot of dramatic, lifting skills with Adept. Adept also benefits Biotic skills specifically. Sentinel’s Combo Damage perk works for all combos.

Yeah its much easier with an NG+ game to have some fun with the weapons and mods. Element Zero is the man for gun builds, he also started a non NG+ game recently so may have some insight.

Yeah its much easier with an NG+ game to have some fun with the weapons and mods. Element Zero is the man for gun builds, he also started a non NG+ game recently so may have some insight. On a quick test bio-converter works pretty damn well. Given how fast I'm blowing through ammo I need to keep an eye on health but the damage output is solid. There are so many augs I've never used or used once and couldn't get the feel of so quit, and they all might be good. Like the grenade augments, seeking plasma, plasma. I think the augments that make the gun fire differently in like how the projectile flies I just don't know how to use.
Currently Bioconverter, burst fire, reaction optmizerx2. I probably should have gone reaction optimizer, an additional mod slot or 2 as I just have light clip 3 and the penetration mod. I could have used more damage at least. Not a fan of scopes so probably wouldn't add one of those.
I dig the sidewinder. Not the best gun or anything but it looks cool.

I built a Hesh shotgun that Element Zero provided info for that is probably the best gun for damage. I think it had seeking plasma and auto-fire with some Kinetic Coils for extra damage. In terms of the pistols I know he did a Sidewinder build but I didn't build it he also tested a great Carnifex build, was way powerful. I am currently using his Hornet SMG build (Auto Fire, Beam Emitter, Bioconverter) which is mad combined with Energy Drain. Took down an Architect with it yesterday without using any skills or powers.

I overlooked your first Sidewinder post. It is a fun gun with a small clip. The bioconverter is very helpful at lower levels. The best augmentations depend upon which gun and build your using. It looks like you have the fourth augmentation slot open, so I’d recommend: Bioconverter, Burst-fire, Double Mod Extension, Kinetic Coil The Dbl-Mod Extension allows you to use a barrel, clip, receiver and melee optimizer. I always go Kinetic Coil on my weapon itself. Particularly if your current build doesn’t maximize weapon damage, weapons can feel sort of weak without mods and augmentations propping it. Don’t forget your melee weapon. Its augmentations are “always on”, so it’s easy to use it to boost your build. This would be the ideal place for 5 Reaction Optimizers for a bunch of extra Combo Damage. Asari Sword and Remnant Cryogauntlet are the UR items with 5 slots. The mods affecting RoF and fire types were updated in the 1.08 patch in May 2017. If you tested them shortly after release, they may’ve changed since then. I’ve tried most of them at some point. I’ll try to categorize them and offer a bit of an explanation. Useless: Single-shot; Grenade Launcher; Ricochet Sometimes Good: Plasma Charge (generally only good on the Ushior) Good to great, depending upon weapon: Autofire, Burst-fire, Beam Emitter, Electrical Conduits, Seeking Plasma, Sticky Grenade, Bioconverter and VHS It's all about maximizing strengths and minimizing weaknesses. For example, one of the very best guns is the Hesh (autofire, seeking plasma). The autofire allows it to melt foes. Seeking plasma turns its relative inaccuracy into crazy accuracy at short to medium range. Another great weapon is Dhan (anything 😆), but also Dhan (Burst-fire, Beam Emitter, Bioconverter, etc...) The burst-fire adds stability and RoF. The beam gives maximized accuracy and stability (50m range). It completely transforms the Dhan without compromising the DPS. I could talk about gun or character builds all night. I like this stuff a lot. I’ll point you toward XainesWorld for some good advice. His website features a huge spreadsheet into which you can plug your ideas and get exact numbers. He’s the only person of whom I’m aware that has discovered and made available all of the math. I’ve never used his site, but I liked his MEA videos a lot. He tells you to which update version the video applies right at the beginning. Site: www.xainesworld.comYoutube (by way of one of his vids. I was struggling to grab a link to his main page.):

dazk , I love that Hornet. Pistols mount ridiculously on the Pathfinder armor with Scott (way too high on the leg and in the middle of the ass cheeks), so I’m running with the Valkyrie version on this Ryder. I will start missing the shot reports or get tired of it eventually. For now, though, I really like melting people with the particle beam. Headshots make me laugh. It’s like I microwaved their heads. (This makes me sound horrific.)

Its kinda cool, I actually feel like a space warrior using it!!!!! The Hornet iirc sits low on Sara's left hip, I hardly even notice it. I was on a roll on EOS yesterday with the Valkyrie, headshots galore!!!!!!! Cora and Vetra were very complimentary and on Voeld yesterday the game was very kind to me, every site I went to popped random quests one after the other, it was unbelievable!!!!!

I wish we could choose where to mount each weapon. I’d often try to keep the back clear of weapons. I like seeing the armor for a change. The Valkyrie looks pretty cool on the right leg of some armors. It folds up into a very small package.

So yesterday Sara headed back to Voeld having only rescued The Moshae everything else awaited her. Fortunately the game was very kind, no cold hazard issues and every site she visited Random Quests such as scanning Angaran's, the kett spying things you destroy and the angaran tech you have to scan popped, it was truly amazing!!!!! So anyway Sara cruised round, killing Kett, killing bots, killing lots of Adhi near the Scourge Gem, finding a memory trigger, finding PeeBee's Rem Tech and freeing Nilj and the other Angaran's. Found the dead smuggler for the Angaran back on Aya and took out some Roekaar who were stealing Angaran supplies. Had enormous fun with The Hornet with a Beam Emitter, Auto-fire and a Bioconverter fitted yesterday in tandem with Energy Drain and the fusion mod of adrenaline. Some pic's I hate this invisible Angaran corpse, means I have to searcheveryone of the damn Kett structures I like Beniska
