Playing with default Sara. Mostly causal/emotional. Sometimes professional when dealing with angara. Don't want to piss them off. Started taking Peebee on more missions. She's growing on me. Gold nomad acts as great camouflage in desert environments. Apart from being, y'know, shiny and all... Crafted a Lvl 4 Revenant with Grenade Launcher mod. Doesn't do great damage but MUCH FIRE!!! Gonna put this in spoilers since it concerns Liam, Cora and Jaal loyalty missions, and the Krogan colony: Sorted out Liam's mess. Had to go through Kett starship. Some idiot turned the gravity off. Made me like him even less than before. Went to really hot planet. Not the good kind of hot. Met some Krogan. Made a deal with the Krogan Overlord over a remnant drive core. Got an outpost out of it, so I guess we're friends now. Rescued the asari ark, got their pathfinder fired for backstabbery. Shot a lot of Kett. Pissed off the leader of the Roekkar on Eos. That was quite fun. Suspect I haven't heard the last of him. Wandered round Eos for a bit, then got a surprise message from someone who wants to kill more Kett. Turns out it was Zaeed Massani's son. Funny who you meet in Andromeda... Suspect I'm gonna spend a lot of time shooting Kett

I've got a GTX 980Ti and I had a similar problem. All I had to do was reduce the screen resolution to 1280 x 800 and that seemed to fix it. Everything is still set to ultra it just doesn't put undue stress on the GPU and the three cooling fans Hope it helps. Thanks I ended up capping the framerate, and the temperature peaks at 80C. Can I ask how hot yours is running with the resolution reduced? Seems to be running between 50 and 60C

Seems to be running between 50 and 60C Thanks I doubt mine will run quite that cool since even the original trilogy runs in the mid-60s, but I'll try it and see what sort of improvement I can get.

I finished exploring the first vault, and then established a science outpost on Eos. Addison offered a handshake, and I'm pleased that I got to be a little bit rude right back to her. I totally refused that handshake, and then I expressed suspicion of her motives! Yeah! Sure showed her! Yeah, I did the same to Addison when the first outpost was built. I don't like her that much. Tann's a bit tolerable, but I'm still wary of him.

I've played 40 hours so far and I still haven't set up my second outpost. There are some really, really good parts and some really, really bad parts. The awesome parts I played today: Cora's and Jaal's loyalty missions. Excellent missions. Running around the ruined Asari ark - the level design where the kett come out, and the COMBAT IN OPEN SPACE (because the hull was breached) was top-notch and thrilling. I haven't had that much fun and been that impressed for a while. Jaal's mission with Akksul was also a success. Getting through all those sharp-shooters to the Roekkaar and Jaal's three siblings... and then when Jaal's sister SHOOTS THEIR BROTHER IN THE BACK... that was a shock, and their reaction and how they dealt with it brought some much-needed gravity and depth to the story involving the xenophobic Roakkaar and extremism. Plus, it was set against he beautiful homeworld backdrop in twilight which was a captivating presentation of the concept of "someone else's Earth." The bad: the world-building and introduction of the angara is conceptually botched. Too many human/Milky-Way customs, structures, and objects being used by a species which is literally from a whole other galaxy. In the original trilogy, the human objects and mannerisms (everything from bars, to tables, to computer-like consoles, to the clothes) could be excused as some by-product of shared cultures a galactic community in citadel space (and we could kind of headcanon that human objects and styles were just really, really popular, in spite of their status and youth). Unfortunately that doesn't fly with the angara. The basic lore of the angara would've been more profound had they been in a relatively different stage of development - say, 20th or 21st-century tech, and hadn't achieved interstellar travel yet. The themes of xenophobia and their borrowing technology from old remnant artifacts still could've applied, but it would've been much more interesting and believable. As it is, everyone in Andromeda has the same guns, tech, merchants, clothes, and structures as the species of the original trilogy's Milky Way, with just a different coat of paint. How can we say Angarans even have merchants as we understand it? How can they just have an open bar like that? This intellectual weakness is unnecessary. Tweaking those things would've lent Andromeda the edge it requires. However, the gameplay has been incredibly smooth and a blast. I finally learned strafing and dashing.... I didn't know about it until 20 hours in. It makes combat much easier and far more fun, and I've been dying less! I also have to say they should've had more variety in the enemies. Too many Chosen and Annointed.

I spent much of the day doing every last side quest that I could find on Eos. Got them all, I think, except for 2 caches I can't figure out how to reach since they are on top of those stone islands (caches are apparently the new shards).
Then I went exploring all the other systems, only to discover I couldn't land anywhere except the next plot world. Sigh. So, now I'm on Voeld, freezing my ass off. Still better than the radiation on Eos though. The story that has unfolded so far on Voeld would be interesting and horrifying if this wasn't a Mass Effect game. Instead, it just feels like recycled content.
I'm getting better at driving the Nomad. Re-binding boost mode from "Shift" to "E" made a huge difference. Also being able to fast travel between the forward stations helps a ton. I just had a squadmate comment on how crappy it does turns,. It's like the devs knew it sucked but figured lamp-posting it would make it ok.

Didn't have much time. Basically just finished the towers on Eos and stopped before the vault.
But I also tried to mine the survey spots on my Nomad. Um... is it possible to fully mine a spot? I'm trying to complete one, and roaming EVERYWHERE around it, but it is always at 'Fair' still..

Well, today Matthew Ryder made the hardest descision of his life and I made one of the hardest descision I've ever had to make in a game ever. During the mission on the Archin's Flagship. I had to choose between Dracks Scout team and the Salarian Pathfinder while the other was consigned to a fate worse than death.
I chose the Salarian Pathfinder, for many reasons, all valid. It was the rational, logical, sensible choice. But it broke my heart. I wanted one, just ONE of the original Pathfinders to join us. After the issues on Leusenia and the unmitigated disaster that was Natanus I just wanted an 'original' pathfinder. A compentant calm and clear headed peer to help me, a junior huntress and a grieving spectre who didnt even want the job initially.
I still feel like I betrayed Drack, and my Krogan allies - whose trust I've built up. I think all that help is the reason Drack is atill with me. Matthew Ryder went back to the Tempest - walked straight to his quarters and I then saved and shut down my computer to think. This stuff is deep. Combine the complex issues of Mass Effect, take away the Binary Blue-and-Red Morality and replace it with Dragon-Age levels of nuance and moral grey areas. The haters can go fuck themselves, I have NEVER been as emotionally invested in a game before.

I've ran into the necessity to drive Nomad yesterday on Eos and then life took over. I thought Nomad was just a speeder, but it handles with all the ease and grace of Mako. I need to take a look at the control keybinds, but so far getting around in it was a pain. I hope that after I get to whatever tower that shuts of the Environmental Hazard on Eos I can just walk. Also, I like minimaps more than the strip on top, I don't really have any sense of direction, so compass points do absolutely nothing for me.

^ Ease and grace of a Mako? The Mako never handled like the Nomad; imo. I dropped on Voeld; icy world. Game is getting glitchy for me. I had the party stuck in combat once on Eos. Now I have sidequests that's not updating correctly. Kicked off the terra forming Remnant towers. The most impressive thing to happen; the towers popping out of the ice upon the PF's arrival, thus opening up the vault. Took down the Kett command base, then I tried to do the optional SQ because one of them is about data. Nope, the bludy doors are locked. Not going to run all over looking for the key; I abandon it. It's optional so it can go take a dive; bye optional.

I probably don't understand something, but unlike the other mounts/speeders, and the PC, making Nomad go left or right is just not happening easily. It keeps barreling straight or backwards. Maybe it is like Mako and is not responsive to AD and needs the mouse pointed in the direction you want to go or whatnot. I did manage Mako after a while to the point it went where I want it to go, but Nomad is Mako all over again. I started with getting it stuck between a rock and a tree right out of the hangar, and then we sort of limped in circles till we got to the Memory Spot. That's as far as I got yesterday, but maybe today will be a better day.

While running around the Hyperion dock on Nexus, I kept passing an npc labelled, "Angry Woman." She was always like, "You! I gotta few words!" I ignored her a few times, but curiosity got the best of me.
She told me she was salty about the Ryders and everything. Then said, "Go to hell!" Screw you, whore. My Sara has better fashion sense than you. Also, got some salt from the security guy I confronted about hacking the control panels. He was fired.
Now, why can't we have the option to punch these idiots? It worked for Shepard when he or she got rid of pesky reporters.
I talked to that one asari journalist and she's filming a documentary? A film or a newscast series? Please be specific with your info before talking to my pathfinder. 🙄

I just noticed an announcement on the Nexus. Sth about some Initiative member dying and them keeping back the details until the next of kin in the Milky Way were notified (must have been a krogan or an asari or something, seeing as a human's next of kin would have died centuries ago). So they are able to contact the Milky Way? Wouldn't that mean that they'd know about the events of ME3? So weird.

I didn't read all your spoiler since I haven't done that yet, but I had a similarly tough decision yesterday on Veold when rescuing the Moshae from the kett. I hope I did the right thing.

Well, I'll be damned... Spoilers if anyone didn't get to A Trail Of Hope main story quest yet. The Moshae sounded familiar, so I looked up her voice actress. Indira Varma, she voiced Vivienne in DAI. Alegra Clark, who voiced Josephine in DAI, is Nackmor Kesh in MEA

Reached level 30. Not sure if I'm even halfway through the game. I've been running, jumping, jetpacking my way around every corner. turned down the asari squadmate for a "roll in the hay" inside the escape pod. player poker with Gil. He won bought a plant for Suvi One thing I miss, when it comes to combat, is the power wheel. I like having to tell a squadmate to use this power on that enemy and then have the other squadmate use whatever power on this enemy So far I've used Vetra and Cora the most. Both hold their own very well. Its fun watching Cora charge through the enemies. My next playthrough, a new game plus, will be as a biotic. Currently playing as a soldier

Well, I managed to direct Nomad mostly places I wanted to go, and after about 30 min of confusion finally broke down into the Kett Research Facility at Obelisk #3 on Eos (five generators, Bio? Really? Everyone knows things come in threes in videogames!), after which everything went smoothly. I absolutely loved the Vault sequence, and the story of the game, not to mention my Tishujen R. Yes, yes, SAM is Space Deus Machina, but well, most Protagonists in Bio games have that special touch, so I don't begrudge it (I loved Hawke, but the Chosen One is fine with me). The Star-trecky feel is unmistakable, AND I got my wish of playing in the environments that look like Gree in SWTOR. Squeeee! (Sigh) Drake is another Krogan, but PB I can stand. I think once I wrap up a little bit of exploration I have left on Eos, I am going swap to either PB + Liam or Vetra + Liam depending on what happens next to my character when she returns to Nexus. Figure 1. The Dynamic Trio Figure 2. Well, Cora, it Looks Like the Space Magic Worked! Who Would Have Thought?!

I think I ran into a quest bug (side quest, but still annoying). I was going to save and reload but....surprise surprise, the quest is somehow considered a "priority" and save is disabled.
One thing I really like in this game is when the journal tells you a quest is "on hold" so you don't spend countless hours trying to move it along with no success. Would have been great to know that about the 4 red lyrium nodes on Storm Coast that aren't accessible until lvl 16. How many people wasted hours trying to climb over that mountain? [ raises hand ]

Well, it wasn't a bug bug, but definitely an annoying game mechanic. Apparently after I went inside a cave, enemies showed up *outside the cave* which somehow put me into combat mode, thus rendering an NPC non-clickable. I'm giving up for the first time on a side quest - The Lost Scout. I can't figure out how to turn the power back on to open a door. This is kind of a stupid quest anyway because I (the player) can hear the scout talking from behind the locked door but no one in the party can. In other news, got my second outpost up and running.
On companions:
I've decided I don't like Cora. She has too many insecurities but still thinks she should be in charge. I think I missed my chance to romance Vetra and no one else is remotely appealing. Meanwhile, Gil is stalking Scott (at least, that's how it feels). I haven't had Liam in my party since Vetra and Drack showed up. I only took Cora and Peebee around on Voeld because of their quests there. Took Jaal everywhere for all things angara-related. Sara will probably romance him if that's an option. Although, listening to him flirt with both Cora and Peebee while in the Nomad is kind of annoying.

[ raises hand ] I didn't. After I couldn't get in the door, I ran a search for a solution so I didn't waste a lot of time trying to get to west side of SC. * I ran into a quest bug on Voeld; I'm supposed to help out a young suicidal fighter. I saw this on stream and I'm supposed to find the angara youngsters standing somewhere near the Kett outpost. However, I ended up cleaning out the Kett outpost without talking to the youngster and now the quest is now permanently in the log. I supposed he's standing out there somewhere; I have no idea where since there is no longer a tracker for it. I have no inclination to romance anyone but thought I'd make a choice anyway. So I tried the first heart on Liam and he said cool, interest return. Then I didn't pick it again for the next dialogue. So I guess it got started somewhat. Jaarl (sp?) got daddy issues; that subject always comes up. Ryder and Jaarl need buckets to cry over daddies every time they speak. Cora's got asari on her mind; asari asari asari! I like asari but somehow they all ended up being clones this time round. And I'm afraid I don't take very well to Cora harping and harping on her special "prowess" that she ran with asari huntresses. Two harpers on board the ship. *sigh* I like Ryder well enough. She's not Shepard, she's her own person. Shep's still my fav. There's no awe and terror in villain reveal, unlike ME1 where Shep finally spoke to Sovereign and you get hit over the head with something you know is beyond your comprehension, where it's brought head on to you that the universe is bigger than what your mind can encompass, where you go spinning; ...s**********t ... we're in deep s****. How do we go up against IT?

Well, good news. Apparently I didn't kill the romance with Vetra so we'll see where that goes.
Had a funny encounter with Liam and Jaal - cultural exchange, they called it. I think Sara would have enjoyed it way more than Scott did.
Found out some good dirt on the Initiative. Investigations continue..... (every time I hear anyone say "The Initiative" it makes me think of S4 Buffy).
