I read that some are saying that cons are not dropping as much as in ME3, or maybe that was just a feeling. When I started ME3 I never used any cons on bronze, and sometimes not on silver, as I was trying to save them up a bit before I better learned what I was doing.
How long will you be, or should be frugal before you start using them?

Ah, time for the wonnabes to show up. I don't need consumables because ... (insert random derpidy derp here). Save them for, erm, later? Start maxing commons with base packs, proceed with uncommons and have a ton of consumables available from the start. That's what I did in ME3, and all consumables are now above 250, despite me allways using Level II - Level IV in every match, and standing on 40 Million credits without ever moneyglitching. There is simply no reason to not use them. Just like weapon mods and gear. Cheap people allways using these things, but making a fuss about not using cons. I still remember the worst derps from ME3, claiming to make the game more harder for themselves, but showing up with Hurrican/Javelin GI on Gold. Oh, how much you gimped yourself. You are such an expert. Glorious times!

My mindset is something like this: I'm a noob playing on bronze, what good will do using an ammo or equipment power if I can't utilize it even to half of it's potential? Maybe I'll make better use of this when I get a bit more experienced, and will have a better choice of equipment when I choose to do something more challenging.

I do what I have to for the level I am playing based on my own experience, ME3....Currently my kit evel and weapon are good enough I can carry a team in bronze, their choice on extraction, if the pug helped in the prev waves I will revive them on extraction, if not it's their problem. In silver I use them as it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to keep low level boosts. Playing with friends we decide but generally use them in silver.

Im playing silver after maxing my commons on bronze and... if youre on the same page I recommend you use at least those lvl1 ammo boosters. its so satisfying to freeze those dogs or make other enemies twerk in sparks and... TECH COMBO!

I definitely equipped them when I jumped into Silver. The only issue I had was the first PUG team I played with did not and we wiped quick so it was wasted cons. But hey whatever. I'll get more.
I'm not comfortable with my skill level and the new game to jump into a higher level without them yet. The only thing I have been avoiding are the Cyclonic Mods. I figure that will just make me play better after some time.

Still scumming on Bronze at the moment. Too many disconnects and laggy hosts at the moment for me to care. If the host is stable though, I've put something on for the subsequent games. I'll probably do the same for Silver. Gold will probably always be gear worthy.

I would say it is pretty similar to DAIMP: some stuff are minimal such as a little rubberbanding, but they can go all the way to seeing dozens of dead enemies standing up on the screen. It depends mostly on the host's distance to me, but I would say that most North American hosts are Ok for me, and South US ones are really good. I haven't done much pugging, I mostly play with people I know. Overall It feels just like DAIMP but since this is a shooter that requires quick reflexes, the lag is a little more noticeable.

I use them on Gold.
Edit.
I misread that question is use of only bonus stuff like cryo etc. I am using consumables since day 1,mission success is on the first place.

i use them whenever i have them. b/s/g doesnt matter. I kind of like that attitude, I never looked at game consumables this way before. On the other hand, I'm the kind of guy that will go both "OCD maximum hoard/savings mode" but at the same time being "let's see how strong vanilla loadouts really are", and then compare the effects that the consumables give (once I hoarded enough stockpile, so I can start choosing appropriate cons for the mission and loadout, not just random).

I mostly use cobras on multiple hack, survival kit if I'm running low on health and shield before extraction and medigel whenever I feel like it. Never used extra ammo before lol.

I'm using equipment now, why wouldn't I?
That level 1 stuff helps on Silver and even on Bronze, and I love those XP boosters.
If I run out then I won't use any, and I'll be right back where everyone else is who is trying to hoard their stuff.
I guess most people are waiting for Mass Effect 5 MP to use their stuff. too bad we couldn't bring unused consumables from ME3

Ammo on Silver, as it makes a huge difference. Consumables like Ops Packs and Medi-Gel? Whenever it's applicable. Whenever. I'll use all my gel in Wave 3 on Bronze if it means the difference between wiping and not (though I'd like to think this scenario wouldn't come up).
