Apparently, this a common and known issue: Mass Effect: Andromeda known issues and troubleshooting tips for black screen, Origin and connection problemsI've tried launching the game from both the Origin Client and the Mass Effect Andromeda icon that was placed on my desktop during download. Both give me a black windowed screen that's roughly half the size of my desktop. I've waited up to 10 mins for something to happen, but it never does. I also lose my mouse/cursor completely and have to end up doing Ctrl+Alt+Delete to "End Process" and get rid of the black screen, and get my mouse/cursor back. * My computer does not have "Corsair Utility Engine" installed on it. * Pressing Alt+Enter just changes the black window to black full-screen. (Also with the loss of my mouse/cursor) * My game (plus all the content from Pre-Order and Deluxe) is 100% downloaded. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, please let me know. This is such BS. To say I'm an "unhappy customer" right now would be a massive understatement... This is also not the type of first post I wanted (or expected) to be making on this forum.

Do you have an anti-virus program running? If so, is the game white-listed or put in the exception list?
Another thing to try is to run either the origin client or the game as an administrator.

Do you have an anti-virus program running? If so, is the game white-listed or put in the exception list? Another thing to try is to run either the origin client or the game as an administrator. Thanks for the suggestions. I always use "Run as administrator", so no issues there. But I haven't tried whitelisting with my Antivirus (I have 2 actively running). Will go try that out now. Back in a few...

No joy. I added "ActivationUI.exe" to my Exceptions for both Avast (free ver.) and Malwarebytes (commercial ver.), tried to launch the game using both the Origin Client and the ME:A icon, and got the same black screen. Rebooted my comp (just in case...), tried again, and still no luck. *sigh* Any other ideas/suggestions would be appreciated, although I'm pretty sure I'm SoL until Bioware rolls out an official fix. Wonderful... In the meantime, I guess I'll kill time by enviously looking at everyone else's characters in the screenshot thread.

I kept clicking around wildly and tabbing in and out, shutting down the program several times, until it showed up in a little window somehow and I could suddenly see--no black screen in the window. (It was black a few times, as happened for you.) From there I was able to, with much irritation and repetition before it let me click into the window without reverting, finally get the game to let me into the settings.
Running in Borderless Windowed mode has completely solved this issue for me. It lets me tab in and out quickly, but with no irritating window to distract me from the immersion.
I hope you can manage to do the same somehow. Good luck.

I have no idea what this is... I had downloaded everything just prior to making my initial post. But I just went back into my Library in Origin and tried the "Update Game" option, for no other reason than I'm out of ideas, and after Verifying the files, this new download started. There was no indication at all that I wasn't "up to date", or that there was a patch, etc. That's pretty messed up. There's obviously something major I'm missing for such a huge download, and if I hadn't just decided to give the update a try (because of the issues I'm having), I would have never known... Has anyone else (who purchased via Origin) noticed this (no indication that your game is not current / up to date)? Anyway... maybe this is the Day 1 patch? Can anyone verify that based on the download size (13.85 GB)? I'm hoping this may solve my problem... *crosses fingers*
